"Stop nerfing all the fun weapons!" CEO: "Hm. I'll resign and take a job as a developer to make the game more fun. No more nerfs." 2 months later: "STOP NERFING ALL THE DAMN GUNS!!!" New CEO: "Hm. I'll have to take a closer look at the game myself. I agree no one likes the nerfs." 2 months later?
to have a little bit of copium and faith. Pilstedt was on vacation when this patch dropped... so Im hoping he puts the balance team back in their place once he's back.
Almost feels like there is a rogue faction inside AH development team that is bent on wrecking the game and sneaks in detrimental changes every time they are left unsupervised.
We got 3 buffs and 1 nerf to weapons. The Breaker IE could literally chip charger armor making it the single best primary for bugs as it also is the single best shrieker killer as well. Pair it with the HMG and there is literally not a single bug you can't kill with weapons.
@@zaferoph Sure if you have all day to do that. The nerfs were unneeded and they nerfed the flame thrower to uselessness. Arrow is as good as Riot at balancing their game.
@@zaferoph chip charger armour? You don’t even know how the game works. On a side note, do you even understand how they massively buffed the walking barrage?
@@s2wuolf508 Maybe I just play it more than you. The Breaker IE can defiantly chip away charger armour on the legs thus letting you use something like the HMG go finnish them off which is incredibly busted for a primary.
Arrowhead seems to forget that we play as rapid shock troops that DONT HAVE ARMOR SUPPORT. When I throw rocket pods or hit a charger with the quasar then it should not just walk it off because…what else can you use to kill it?
If you are looking for Support Weapons you can use: Expendable Anti-Tank (EAT), Recoilless Rifle, Spear, Autocannon, Quasar Cannon, and the Commando. If you want to use a different support weapon (like the machine gun or stalwart) then you can use the throwing knives from the Viper Commandos warbond. (Throw 4 at a single leg and it will instantly kill a charger).
@@protonicprotogen6304 Unfortunately the throwing knives were another unlisted casualty to this patch. They can't penetrate charger leg armor anymore because we're not allowed to have fun. Yay, more unlisted nerfs!
No reason why Rocket Pods shouldn't oneshot chargers. I don't think any living thing would like having multiple hypersonic jets of plastically deforming copper shot through their body.
@@jooot_6850 "uSe YouR sTrAtagEms!11!!1!" I would if they actually did what they're supposed to do, AH! Yeah, I totally agree, there's so many stratagems and weapons that just don't do what they need to do to be considered useful. I'd love to have a multiple use AT stratagem for dealing with chargers, tanks, and maybe hulks, but it doesn't actually kill any of them.
Just tried to extract from a Solo Tier 6 mission. By the time the drop ship was 20 seconds away I had the entire extraction zone covered in: Armoured Bile Spewers, Multiple Hive Commanders, a Charger, hordes of hunters, warriors and baby green bugs, an Impaler and a Bile Titan. And timer expired, so no Strategems. I ran around uselessly stimming and diving until drop ship arrived. Stunned the drop zone with a grenade… but couldn’t enter the drop ship because the entire entrance was blocked by the bodies of a charger and assorted bugs it landed on. Died trying to crawl in. Tier 6!!!
I only play bots solo, the thrill of having to sneak around is unbeat, mainly because the consequences of getting spotted is a fight where I'm lucky if I don't run out of ammo, because dead enemies calling in bot drops, groups of devistators making me fear for my life of getting my Healthbar erased before I can react (i only wear heavy armor) and god forbid I run, I 100% will run into a jammer, scanner that summons hulks, or get juggled by turrets and rockets, nothing beats the feeling of reaching extraction and knowing a dozen walkers are going to spawn, and run around looking for me, so that I can't escape
Them completely dropping the ball on adding mechs to the game, was really one of the biggest clear signs that things were just gonna suck. They can have something as hype as a mech suit and then go and have it die faster than our divers, blow itself up and then instead of buffing it, they went and nerfed the thing further on the rocket accuracy, then when they went and finally improved the accuracy that still isn't completely fixed they went and nerfed the rockets even further. At least they eventually made the mechs bounce off the small arms fire, but it's still insane that a vehicle released just getting melted by a little rifle fire.
Yeah don't ask Arrowhead for a buff to something. They'll come out a month later with something like what you asked for on the buff front, but with 9 balancing nerfs alongside that buff. It's literally like being at a restaurant and ordering a pizza, and the guy comes out with a pizza and a side of dog shit. Bro just the pizza. So you try ordering again. This time the pizza itself has dog shit toppings as well as a side order of dog shit. JUST THE PIZZA!!!! You scream in his face hoping he'll get it. "Yes sir we're listening" he says nodding affirmatively!!! Bro comes out with dogshit pizza mk3!! How many times we gonna suffer a dog shit pizza?
This summarizes their entire philosophy pretty much When they fixed the rocket pods targeting so that it would actually HIT stuff, they nerfed the damage (and I quote) "TO COMPENSATE" TO COMPENSATE FOR WHAT??? THE STRATAGEM ACTUALLY WORKING WARRANTS A REDUCTION IN POWER??? SO WHAT THEY'RE ESSENTIALLY ADMITTING IS THE ROCKET PODS WERE PREVIOUSLY BALANCED AROUND NOT HITTING THEIR TARGETS HALF OF THE TIME??? WHAT IS THIS LOGIC????????
Next update: Bastion tank gets a ammo nerf, now it only has 4 shots total. Also, every automaton world has a cannon turret on every building. Furthermore, every termanid world has triple the number of chargers per difficulty.
someone said its probably because they didnt want the new flame weapons to kill chargers. but that same person said: just make the flamer prim/secon have a non-AP flame and make the *support strategem* flamer still have armor pen. its like when they took the shrapnel away from the erupter even tho the problem was a charger leg armor glitch and *not* the eruptors shrapnel 🤦♂️
@@MB-dn1fx Heck, even just push force would help if you could literally push enemies back with the flamethrowers, like flamethrowers that enemies use in darktide.
I wish there was a Heavy Armor passive that gives the Diver the effect of wearing Medium Armor that the enemy has... so small acid spits and laser shots just get reflected.
I was on the discord and someone there made a shockingly good point. The dev team keeps shifting the power to stratigems and away from both primary weapons AND support weapons.... but the main selling point of each update are the weapons in the new warbond. Why add disincentives to shooting things? It makes no sense to me. Thank you for this video. It really puts everything into perspective on how the decline of the enjoyment in helldivers progressed over the month. I felt like a frog slowly being boiled.
I once thought the same thing, but then they released polar patriots, which had only 1 gun that was good, i believe they are balacing stuff based on a spread sheet, the CEO said "we nerfed the incendiary breaker because it was used in 30% of terminids missions, and that's a problem". Yes, of course it is a problem, but it isn't a problem about the weapon, it's about other weapons not being fun, unique or reliable enough to deal with everything the highest difficulties throw at you, it really feels like the balancing team is completely disconnected from the balance and confused at times so they just change things based on stats.
The devs already made their money. Now they keep losing money by renting servers. Releasing the tone deaf statements and unpopular nerfs is a good way to drastically reduce player numbers without violating their contract with Sony and save money on server cost.
They don't even stick to the strategim reliance thing in their own game design. In higher difficulties there's modifiers that nerf your strategims inti the ground, leaving you with bad weapons, lower amount of strategims, and higher cool down in strategims. Also, they seem to forget that things like the flamethrower and the railgun ARE strategims
I'm definitely uninstalling Hell divers 2 when space marine 2 comes out. I've given up on hell divers 2. The devs dont listen and if you give a constructive criticism from their discord you get banned.
Honestly, can we trust Devs that seem like only run level 3 difficulty with mission to only kill 1 reg charger... Flamethrower OP when you have swimming in the shallow part of the pool you built.
Personally I believe that AH QA team and their balancing team should be relieved of their duties and hire people that actually care about having fun and having a quality product.
they just need someone that tells them what needs to be adjusted rather than basing their changes on a spread sheet. "We nerfed the incendiary breaker because it was used in over 30% of games, and that's bad" doesn't make sense, it was used because it was fun and effective, i will cover this in my next video :)
These are the words I've been searching for. If I want to become more skilled at something, I'll go back to the drawing I'm making. helldivers is suppose to be "blow stuff up and laugh at it" the game. If you want it to be harder, use the weakest weapons, and play solo without stratagems. Nobody is forcing you to use them. But now, everything is useless.
This isn't about skill. Give me a democratic box cutter and I'll figure out how to take out a bile titan with it. This is about fun and chargers are a pain in the ass without specific stratagems. The flame thrower gave another option to deal with them. Talking that away means there are fewer ways to deal with them or if or limited pool. Sure there are options but many are tedious and not satisfying to do. I'm tired of bringing a small number of things to effectively deal with spawns of chargers.
The reason that they made Shrieker do less damage when they got killed is because you could insta-kill Bile Titans by killing Shriekers on top of them. It kinda pisses me off that the fixes they prioritize are the ones that make the game easier. They even had the audacity to say "You can't take two exosuits because of performance issues" meanwhile every patch makes the performance worse for everyone and the bug that allowed you to take two exosuits was fixed in a week, meanwhile we have stuff that we have been asking for fixes since launch that are still in the game (I.E. Chargers sliding and moonwalking after getting shot).
Thank you for making this video! The recent patch was just the straw that broke the camels back. All the negative "balance" changes and enemy buffs stacked up to why people are angry today.
Yup, the game is not getting easier at any level. Yet they keep reducing our options to deal with it, unless you’re in some well-drilled group of friends all chatting together. Fun for that small subset of players, but it’s leaving a significant part of their player base behind.
They made it so player hellpods can't land on elevated ground, but they sure as fuck still let any other hellpod land up there. Which sure, skill issue, check your surroundings, but it's just annoying and another example of take away the fun, leave the frustration.
Everything. It sounds cheap but the devs are allowing the enemies to cheat. They shoot and walk through walls, sometimes they refuse to take damage, sudden speed changes, aim bot, seeing through walls. I have had slug rounds deflect off of the faces of the little bugs! And every time we cling to something because we like it or because its an effective weapon or method like diving on tank batteries gets nerfed, altered or removed. We all have been saying it since the game came out. No nerfing. Nerfs are not fun. Fix the damn ai & jank. Stop touching our equipment. Also, i dont appreciate enemies spawning just out of view 30 feet away like its 2002. They spawn next to us and B line it in our direction, every single time. The bugs get free bug breaches because there are always more bugs spawning right around the corner.
One look at their live stream tells you all you need to know. They dont playtest their game, ever. It felt like watching your average IGN reviewer play doom for example. Painful.
@@dztrict1000 of course i absolutely agree with you, but i would expect a developer to know how the game works, but no, they've been bringing incendiary weapons against automatons and not using stratagems properly, even a kid would understand that an EXPENDABLE ANTI TANK will be effective against the big bad robot with a flamethrower that is quickly approaching you.
@@dztrict1000Well that’s clearly not true, and the game itself is evident of that. This is why whenever someone like John Romero made doom levels he personally played them to get a players perspective on them. The devs should be playtesting their changes before sending them out to the public, but they clearly don’t.
In hindsight, the railgun should've never received the killing blow of a nerf it got when the issue was a result of a Playstation bug. This is Arrowhead literally dealing with a symptom while totally missing the disease. What I always thought was the most egregious changes to a gun that wasn't even that good to begin with was the arc thrower. Was it particularly powerful? No, but it was fun and lead to funny moments where you would arc a shot and kill someones connection to the game. No, it had its ranged reduced, it's stagger taken away, and it's fire rate dumbed down...and to top it all off it STILL randomly targets things in front you causing you to miss easy shots. Arrowhead doesn't know what they're doing, and it's painfully obvious to anyone who isn't suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.
I think they should have just increased the charg-up time and reload time of the original Railgun. As well as put the one-shot one-kill shot of it closer to the point where the gun could have blown up. That would have made a high-risk high-rewaard situation, and would have made people be more careful about their timing.
Everything else was great in this last patch EXCEPT the Breaker Incendiary and Flamethrower. If they didn't do that, everyone would be praising them. But they screwed up AGAIN!
Honestly I think incendiary breaker nerf wasn’t that bad IMO. Maybe give it ONE more mag and it’s fine so im not too mad about that but they do really need to revert the change for the flamethrower ASAP
@@oreomint8255or add some other weapon to occupy the niche of charger-melter and horde clear (looking at you Avenger from hd1) and then buff flamethrower range and maybe make it so the jet of fire slows or staggers oncoming enemies

Yeah Arrowhead do this a lot. They nerf things because they don't know / don't fix a bug that's actually the cause of some crazy damage. Like the guard dog rover. It's a BUG that it never overheats and has to reload. But without fixing that bug, they will continue to buff the other guard dog to try to bring it into line with the other one. Mediocre, incremental, unexciting changes like increasing the mag count by 2 or allowing you to resupply it with boxes. These pathetic little tweaks to it will continue until they finally fix the bug, realise that the guard dog rover is now guard dog crap compared to their continuously buffed default guard dog, and then nerfbat the guard dog while everyone is using it instead. And we'll be left with two weaker guard dogs than they have ever been, and probably about the same time that they release a new guard dog for the bot units that does 5x more damage than ours and has infinite ammo. Which they'll leave in its OP as hell state forever because bots don't need nerfs, helldivers do.
yeah i've noticed the approach they are taking with the rover, they warned us that a "overheating" mechanic will be introduced, masking it with the excuse of "it didn't work since launch!" As for the guard dog, little tweaks like resupplying from ammo boxes is something that i'm sure the community had been wanting for a long time now
It's a classic case of the devs not understanding what makes the game fun to play. The over-tuning of this game has really killed it for me. I don't want to spend any money on a battle pass because anything I unlock is either trash now, or trash later.
The game is not made for high levels player. Its fun at the beginning but the higher you are the less and less fun it became. Game has 3 problems: 1. Nerfs. Finally a good gun that everyone use? Nerf it. We got so many nerfs I don't even know what a real good weapon left, maybe blitzer where it should be ALL weapons. ALL WEAPONS SHOULD BE GOOD so we don't stuck with the same loadout which we freaking do the past months. We all run with incind breaker not because its meta but because other weapons are shit. We as players dont have a choice. Have fun with anything that can kill horde of bugs without flame braker or maybe flamethrower that can kill chargers and in AH mind I guess its bad that weapon supposed to be powerful to be capable of killing something. 2. No rewards. As max lvl player I get no rewards for playing max difficulty. Even better we get less rewards. So players literally has no reason to endure suffering of 9-10 difficulty with shitty weapons cause you will get the same low samples reward. There's just no rewards for us. 3. Lack of content. I like new bugs enemies (even though they ragdoll us every 30s and its annoying af) but thats it. Warbond is the same nothing new, missions are the same "pick this thing and deliver it", auto bot front is the same. Biome is the same its just jungles but darker. But the most important aspect its just no fun. Every time I play its just a chore with the same stratagem and loadout. I'm tired, I don't wanna play anymore, I'm returning to the life of citizen to try Deep rock galactic cause unlike HD2 you get higher rewards as high lvl, there's no nerfs every update, you can customize your weapons to have different skill which lead to different variety of loadouts and you're allowed to have fun.
From my experience, the part that irks people most with weapon changes is that it forces lots of players to completely relearn and rediscover a new loadout that works for them. The frequent changes and how many weapons are impacted only compounds this problem. People just don’t want to relearn something they once thought they already knew.
It’s more a matter of why should I bother to relearn how to use a new loadout if the devs decide on a whim that I’ve been getting complacent with my (worse) replacement loadout? We’ve been doing this song and dance for the entire length of the game. Players find a winning strategy, devs nerf it, players find new strategies then devs nerf that too. What’s the incentive again to keep doing this when I already know the outcome?
For 2 months ive just signed in for major order medals then cashing in on warbonds, everytime I look at the weapons i might mess around withtoday and I just sigh and turn it off. Ive played Starship Troopers Extermination on and off for a year and it always has me coming back, I know theres no bot equivalent enemies but that game balances shit just right for 16 players running around.
Something very interesting about the commando id like for all to know. Since the games launch the weapon was hidden in the game like many others and if modded to aquire it you could fire it and use it like any other. Since the very beginning it was able to destroy fabricators in ONE shot from any direction. Your telling me they went and re did the weapons visual design, touched it up a bit and released it to the public and the not once ever realized that it was “bugged” with this feature it had on launch until recently. The balance team is so bad at their jobs it’s not even funny.
We want fun pve like left 4 dead! Not some nerfs and what not like cod or overwatch! Whens the last time youve seen someone have the jetpack, the massive bubble shield, the snipers, the mines, riot shield, so many other strategems like smokes etc are non existant! They can keep stealth mechanics but they should allow players to choose between guns blazing as well! Why not give helldivers more than 4 slots and reduce rhe cost to help give the power fantasy? What about hrlldivers donating their extra credits etc. To thr consoles to the right side of the ship! Suprised no one ever talks about that console thats just randomly there. It could be a fun donation system to allow random divers, random effects in battle like ammo, movement speed, etc. Imagine a stryder for automatoms and the bugs like a scarab in halo 3 and we have to hop into it to blownup the core and narrowly escape the detonation! BUT NOOOOOOOOO We still cant customize colors like armored core and other games and why not have a full on space battle with our upgraded ships etc. SO MANY IDEAS YET HERE WE ARE TAKE UM ALL CONTENT CREATOR, JUST WANT THE GAME TO THRIVE. i get the HMG is a powerful gun but something i thought they would know since some arrowhead staff are former military is that weapons with a lot of weight can dampen their own recoil after all isnt realism what they are going for kinda odd how they neglect realism that can make the game easier
The Eruptor situation is even worse than that. It started killing the user and teammates only AFTER they patched in bullet ricochets. Aside from the Eruptor, I've never seen anyone die to ricochets in game, like ever ever EVER. So they introduced a useless "feature" that does absolutely nothing for gameplay except break the Eruptor, and instead of rolling it back and finding a fix they deleted shrapnel. Bass ackwards thinking.
yep that's right, they patched it something that yes added realism but was not needed, and then killed a weapon because of the "realistic feature" they added. Guess what Arrowhead, friendly fire is also realistic.
Step 1: Make a game that requires very many players to function. Step 2: Make players not want to touch the gam ever again due to constantly removing fun. Step 3: ??? Step 4: Profit?
Everyone says the whole PSN requirement thing was why the game fell off, but I personally think it was them trying to balance weapons for a PvE only game. And not even a competitive PvE game with raids, just a casual PvE game. Then because the weapons were so weak, the game just wasn't fun to play because it was a slog.
It started with the Eruptor for me. They released that weapon and I finally found a primary that fit my tastes; excellent damage and range, balanced by an excruciating long reload time per shot. Great kill potential against devastators and chaff units, with further added utility in its ability to destroy fabs by shooting them in the vents. I could play long and support my teammates by taking out devastators at range, and running around clearing fabricators. The shrapnel wasn't even that deadly against your teammates, you just had to place your shots well, so that drawback could easily be played around. Then they nerfed it. It's been pretty much downhill from there. Got a little goodwill back when they tuned up the Diligence and the Diligence CS, and the Orbital Gatling and Precision Strikes.
At the end of the day I hope the Devs don't lose sleep over some comment by a Helldiver telling them to kill themselves over a nerf to Impact nades or someshit, Gamers cant treat devs like trash they are friends not food
Funny thing. After last "Big update" Im no longer even using support weapons on bugs, because all of them are garbage. Only offensive stratagems, napalm, gas and orbital precision, and mech for the last slot, because I love utilizing garbage stratagems (yes, mechs are garbage, fight me). I used arc thrower before it became the meta, but then it got nerfed, I used flamethrower and incendiary breaker before they were meta (flamethrower less than breaker), but then they got buffed and nerfed because reasons, and enemies became only stronger. Scorcher got weaker because walkers are unreasonably tanky. Now I use only cookout and nade pistol with stratagems I've listed above. I expect cookout to get nerf, because "its too reliable", good fire rate, almost non existing reload time, stun lock everything smaller than charger and damage to kill everything smaller than alpha commander. Maybe nerf stims, because reasons, you're not allowed to live. Maybe nerf legs, because running is too OP. Well, time to stop yapping and go play a good game that has sane devs and good balance, Deep Rock Galactic.
@@baconlover09423 yeah. I take them every mission now, alongside with gas, napalm and orbital precision on bugs. They're mostly useless, but pretty handy for clearing new fortresses
I notice, that while there have been a large number of buffs, they are often to trash weapons and/or are pretty small, while nerfs are massive (or just outright buggy/bugs) to the most popular weapons.
What gets me is how many things are changed because of bugs or poor design, but then once the bugs are fixed, the changes are left in place, or the weapons are still worse off than they were originally. For example: DoTs are inconsistent when not the host: buff fire twice, buff incendiary breaker. DoTs are fixed: fire nerfed months later for unrelated reasons. Crossplay bug makes railgun and arc thrower more powerful than they should be: railgun's stagger and damage gutted; arc thrower's range and fire rate gutted. Crossplay bug fixed: Railgun safe mode brought up slightly, arc thrower's stagger increased (but this is inconsequential because they made hulks harder to stagger). Both worse off than they were at the start for no reason. Marksman rifles are unpopular because of their poor reliability against armored enemies and bullet sponges: slugger nerfed for being an actually good weapon. Marksman rifles are improved: slugger's stagger given back months later, but inexplicably, the cost of worse handling and accuracy. As much as Arrowhead likes to tout realism, why are they implying the Slugger would be heavier when shot loads are actually heavier than slugs? Plus, it already has a 6 MOA red dot. It didn't need an accuracy nerf. Nobody can see a bot head through that already.
@@petty5709 they like having "selective realism", where automatons can shoot infinite rockets while our exosuit got murdered into the ground for no reason at all. The game is realistic only for our soldiers apparently, enemies get to hack whenever they like

A games dev should know the ins and outs of how every system they create interacts with their game hell id argue they should be some of the first to discover glitches but where i deved was smaller and less large scale so you cant always match the glitches found by 400k people. But man these devs barely seem to understand the basics when i was watching their stream. They dont have to be the best players in the game but they should for sure have gameknowledge that is above most casual weekend players id argue more in favor for at least as much as the best players. but im being realistic in my expectations of AH. Atm it looks like theyre below my buddy that started playing 1 day ago Also hell game knowledge in HD2 is about 80% of what you need to be good at higher diffs.(where to shoot what to shoot with what stratagems etc etc)
Give us stronger primaries! It'll be fun! Or at least some way to buff them ourselves. Please dont treat this game like an esport first game. Most of us just want to shoot big bugs with bug guns alonside the homies in quick match.
I must correct you 12:25 it took exactly 60 second before recharging if the shield was not fully destroyed. Tested multiple times, also seen on others stream.
I hate how like 1/5 of the community is like "Yeah I'm ok with it I still like the eruptor and the guns they nerfed" ?!?!?! WHY ARE ANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY THIS GAME OK WITH THIS
What I would do is calculate the rate of change I want in players compared to initial sales and continued bandwidth cost. This is a scam I swear, not the first game, not the last. Idk just the feel I get with my 20 years development experience.
lol the arc thrower inconsistensy wasnt fully fixed until the new patch actually lol. up until this week it couldnt shoot around dead bodies or around certain terrain. i tried it and it finally does work, but the game just sucks now. no diversity of good weapons has killed it for me. great video by the way hope the game does get better next year the devs have no idea what theyre doing or what they want
To the ones claiming the infamous "skill issue", let me, someone with over 250hrs ask you a few questions: Was it my skill issue when the game was not accessible for a month due to the poor server infrastructure? Was it my skill issue when the devs gave us a mech suit that self destructed if you turned too quickly? Was it my skill issue when the game would crash because an arc weapon was fired? Was it my skill issue causing the constant crashes at extraction? Was it my skill issue when the devs modified the behaviour of weapons in stuoid ways? Was it my skill issue to put a weapon in the game, include shrapnel? as an effect, then remove it because it has shrapnel? Is it my skill issue when enemies spawn on top of a mountain, inside of a hill, ignore all damage while using aimbots for instant kills while shooting through thier own body? Was it my skill issue with naplam flames that, if we are being "realistic" as the devs love to say, would be sticking to and burning everything, especially armour, is now a bottle of bug spray with a lighter? Look, we all liked this game at some point, but if you cant see the issues with the dev team or for some reason still feel like they deserve support, please justify even one of my points. I have seen the discord (before being banned for talking about Super Earth lol) and it was just desperate people defending the devs who took thier money and at that point, literally didnt have access to the game they paid for so i dont expect much haha.
@@Doc.BlackWolf this is the only vid I’ve been able to find that fully outlines the entire timeline of the game’s release and how they have balanced the guns since then and it shows a very disappointing trend by Arrowhead. They look at a weapon that is being used a lot by players (likely players on higher lvl difficulties trying to clear the content in an efficient manner), and every single time they go: “hmmmm a large percentage of the playerbase is using this gun. That means it is meta. That is a problem. This needs to be nerfed.” That is not how you should approach weapon balance in a pve game that can have you fighting dozens of enemies at once that may require various strategies to kill I.e. heavy armored enemies needing anti-tank. Why are they balancing this game like a competitor shooter??? Actually it’s even worse than that b/c usually when devs nerf a weapon in a pvp shooter they actually have data that shows how that weapon performs in engagements against other weapons and they can quantify why it’s superior and needs a nerf. There will always be a “meta” in any game that allows you to choose your build that’s just how gamers work. Arrowhead really needs to consider what they want for this game going forward b/c the community has been extremely vocal of their distaste of them nerfing fun guns like the Eruptor, god I loved that gun when they first added it, just felt so good using it against the bots. This is an advanced sci-fi universe where we fight giant bugs, killer robots, and soon squid aliens with mind control powers, I would hope that Super Earth supplies their Helldivers with adequate weaponry to combat all those threats and not ration their Incendiary Breaker mags down to 4. If something internally with the dev team doesn’t change soon I see a lot more ppl dropping this game and likely checking out Space Marine 2.
Everyone saying skill issue needs to stream a level 9 solo dive, NO STEALTH. You must take every engagement, THAT would be real skill. They won't, short sighted cowards who need to stfu.
Headshots for players shouldn't exist. Everyone's yapping about how you should "git gud" if the game is hard, but HOW TF AM I SUPPOSED TO GIT GUD AGAINST RANDOM 2X DAMAGE!? This game is not about "git gud" as much as it about your luck and ability to spam V button (thanks for allowing stimming with full health at least, for me that's the only good change in this big patch)
How to "Get Gud against random x2 damage." Step one: Use cover Step two: Watch your flanks There is no Step three. That's it. That's all you have to do.
@@horrorfan117 yea, awesome, I have a better solution - don't engage in combat... in a shooter... Find cover in a plane field, you genius, and most of the map IS just a plain field.

Precision strike, 500kg eagle strike, 380 orbital barrage, and impact grenades can excavate a fox hole you can crouch in for cover. Find some small bit of elevation. The more ground between your body and the enemy drastically lowers the chance of you getting hit . And I don't know why people are so negative about avoiding some encounters you are not equipped for. Shooting is a means. Not the objective. As shown by you getting the same rewards at the end screen if you fire no shots or a thousand. Hell the smoke grenade, orbital smoke, and eagle smoke actually aid in avoiding or disengaging enemies. So it's obviously seen as a valid strategy. And if all other options are not there then you should have a team to coordinate with to eliminate the enemy asap. Your first few shots in the beginning of an engagement are free. Squads need to use them wisely to prevent reinforcements and retaliation. It is not my fault nor Arrowhead's that you, and most of the playerbase seem to be ignorant of the capabilities of their tools. And that's what all the equipment in game are. Tools. Each gun, stratagem, and support weapon all fulfill a niche. That's why the game is balanced around teamplay. You're supposed work with others to cover what you cannot. So get your shit together, experiment with the tools you have, and communicate more with your team.
People can bitch and moan about this game all day but I’m mainly fine with it, but the thing I can’t seem to get over is that there were so many enemies on screen on super helldive that my ps5 was stuttering and my game crashed 3 times. Not because of a certain bug but just the amount of enemies and all of these inputs at the same time made my PlayStation 5 completely shit itself, and it’s one of the newer models
35:14 "System intended to prevent softlocks where players can drop on important interaction points" You mean like landing on top of the generators in the assets mission because this same system can arbitrarily decide to steer you whichever way it feels or lock the movement entirely? "or unintended places" Yeah could've just said what you meant without the bs padding beforehand. What a condescending announcement that was
I understand all the criticisms in this video and actually agree with most of them, but man I really wish people had perspective and didn't act like Helldivers 2 losing 90% of its peak player base from launch was some kind of "flop". To demonstrate this, look at the player count for Elden Ring, by this time in 2022, Elden Ring had the same player count as Helldivers 2 does in 2024. However, no one cared and I never even heard a whisper of Elden Ring being considered a "dead game" by any metric, it was literally an instant classic and I couldn't stop hearing about it and it was considered game of the year. Again, Helldivers 2 has serious balancing issues but any idea of the balance being bad does not retroactively remove the obvious success of the game.
@@Davidthegreat93 losing players is normal for every game. Shit hits the fan when they start removing the fun from the game, of course you'll lose even more players
You can't compare the two when one is (mostly) meant to be a single player experience as opposed to a live service. The live service model of HD2 is meant to retain as many concurrent players as possible. While it's true that player counts tend to drop over time, I would argue that HD2 has had theirs drop at an abnormal rate and it's entirely because the devs are mishandling the game so badly.
When you were on the Discord server did you ever ask the devs how they failed to notice the crossplay bug? I knew about this bug before I had even purchased the game, by watching a few UA-cam videos.
i didn't, by the time i joined the team, the bug was already fixed so i just focused on providing feedback for the current balance problems. But honestly i think it's just because they are a small studio and they really pushed it by making this game, they weren't expecting so much success and i believe some of the developers are still a bit inexperienced
@@Doc.BlackWolf I see. I can understand not wanting to burn bridges or be labeled as toxic when there are more relevant topics for discussion. However I think you are being very charitable with your assessment--that some of the developers are inexperienced. Nobody tested the actual effectiveness of the railgun against Bile Titan heads before implementing the change, and nobody tested that the change had the desired effect. If either of these tests had been carried out, someone would have noticed the discrepancy between the bug and normal gameplay, or at least noticed that the post-patch railgun was under-performing 10 times relative to the observed problematic effectiveness, and that this should be impossible because the damage was never that high (clearly indicating a bug).
@@technologicalwaste7612 yeah that's right, i think it went like this: "guys, the Railgun is broken, i've seen countless videos about it oneshotting bile titans" and they started thinking about it, toying around with it, maybe they tested it on PS5 where that bug would OBVIOUSLY occur, so they quickly butchered it by heavily reducing the values and went like "yeah that should do :)" they maybe didn't test it, or maybe they tested it and just dropped the update like that. They did mention they can't afford to pay testerd, altough i don't believe them, they made millions with the amount of copies sold, and altough many players refunded after the sony thing, there's no way they couldn't have paid a tester 1000 bucks a month to go bug hunting. Hell, i even proposed myself to be a tester for them FOR FREE, but Baskinator refused.
Mostly decent video but I hate to hear the same parroted sentiment that any one of these nerfs was "deserved". How could you possibly defend a single one of them, I will never understand.
I didn't defend a single nerf done by the developers. The only nerfs i said were deserved were the ones made to the "meteor showers" or certain enemies
@Doc.BlackWolf Perhaps I misunderstood but I thought you said the sickle and breaker were deserved. I still appreciate the info you did show though. I hope this game turns around but I've lost a great deal of hope.
@@Mr.Salad_ oh yeah, maybe for the Sickle, i felt like 6 spare ICE were a bit too much for a weapon that has "infinite ammo". While "deserved nerf" is not the correct term i would use, i believe it's the only nerf i was okay with as it made the weapon less braindead and require a bit more skill to use. As for te breaker, i didn't say the nerf was deserved, i said that after the nerf the weapon was still pretty good, though they could have left it how it was.

Yes, of course it is a problem, but it isn't a problem about the weapon, it's about other weapons not being fun, unique or reliable enough to deal with everything the highest difficulties throw at you, it really feels like the balancing team is completely disconnected from
the balance and confused at times so they just change things based on stats.
Arrow Head just snatched up DEFEAT from the jaws of VICTORY. Totally lost its GOTY potential. Shame 😢
I really like how you pronounce Senator, as you give it a gravitas similar to "The Terminator."

Which they'll leave in its OP as hell state forever because bots don't need nerfs, helldivers do.
yeah i've noticed the approach they are taking with the rover, they warned us that a "overheating" mechanic will be introduced, masking it with the excuse of "it didn't work since launch!"
As for the guard dog, little tweaks like resupplying from ammo boxes is something that i'm sure the community had been wanting for a long time now
Oh god, giving bots a "drone" unit sounds like something they would do. Nightmarish

thank you for putting together EVERY patch and change just to know everything that has changed over time
thank you too for watching my video!
The game is not made for high levels player. Its fun at the beginning but the higher you are the less and less fun it became.
Game has 3 problems:
And then by the time you get comfortable with a new loadout, they nerf something In it. Rinse and repeat like 3-4 times now for me. Tired of it
It’s more a matter of why should I bother to relearn how to use a new loadout if the devs decide on a whim that I’ve been getting complacent with my (worse) replacement loadout? We’ve been doing this song and dance for the entire length of the game. Players find a winning strategy, devs nerf it, players find new strategies then devs nerf that too.
What’s the incentive again to keep doing this when I already know the outcome?
"Balancing" & Nerfing weapons isn't a Helldivers problem.
It's an *industry* problem.
BUT NOOOOOOOOO
We still cant customize colors like armored core and other games and why not have a full on space battle with our upgraded ships etc. SO MANY IDEAS YET HERE WE ARE

@@varietywiarrior Mate, there are many worse looking games than EDF; it's really not that bad, graphics wise. And even then, no PC would be able to run a high graphics EDF game due to the amount of stuff that happens in the least chaotic EDF mission because your Computer/Console's RAM would commit suicide from the amount of stuff it needs to render and keep stable at a high framerate.
The Soviet Union military wasnt as incompetent as the QA team of AH.

i dont know why the devs desperately want the nerfs

well that weapon is not even in the game yet but let's hope they wake up and stop doing shit like that
With the new stronger enemies and our nerfed equipment I will keep playing deep rock galactic. No need to come back to HD2 until they release the throd faction

@@viCtoXx360 thanks! My editing isn't perfect but i took inspiration from them. I hope you'll come back if they fix the game
i get the HMG is a powerful gun but something i thought they would know since some arrowhead staff are former military is that weapons with a lot of weight can dampen their own recoil after all isnt realism what they are going for kinda odd how they neglect realism that can make the game easier
Its selective realism so they can have some kind of bullshit excuse for nerfing our fun shit, and its getting really fucking old.
It definitely took a part in it
honestliy i like the plas 101 for crowd clear on bugs
The balance of Helldivers 2 may be a joke but it is a joke I'm in love with.
We're all in love with this joke, but it's really sad to see this beautiful ship sinking with every new update
At the end of the day I hope the Devs don't lose sleep over some comment by a Helldiver telling them to kill themselves over a nerf to Impact nades or someshit, Gamers cant treat devs like trash they are friends not food

Liarhead Inc, never buying another one of their games; this isn't the game I bought and I want my money back.
Mechs are garbage but man are they fun as hell to use
@@baconlover09423 yeah. I take them every mission now, alongside with gas, napalm and orbital precision on bugs. They're mostly useless, but pretty handy for clearing new fortresses

I notice, that while there have been a large number of buffs, they are often to trash weapons and/or are pretty small, while nerfs are massive (or just outright buggy/bugs) to the most popular weapons.
yep that's how it is, small and insignificant buffs vs massive and killing nerfs
What gets me is how many things are changed because of bugs or poor design, but then once the bugs are fixed, the changes are left in place, or the weapons are still worse off than they were originally.
For example:
DoTs are inconsistent when not the host: buff fire twice, buff incendiary breaker.

Atm it looks like theyre below my buddy that started playing 1 day ago
Also hell game knowledge in HD2 is about 80% of what you need to be good at higher diffs.(where to shoot what to shoot with what stratagems etc etc)
RIP Eruptor, you were a beast to pure for this game.

I’ve never seen a game fumble this hard this quickly. It sad that this is still my favorite game of 2024. But it’s not fun versus the beginning.
wouldnt it be a great lore point if some Alien sympatists sabotaged alot of Helldivers equipment to sabotage the war effort?
To the ones claiming the infamous "skill issue", let me, someone with over 250hrs ask you a few questions:
Was it my skill issue when the game was not accessible for a month due to the poor server infrastructure?

Krill issue (lacking some krill on your super destroyer)
Headshots for players shouldn't exist. Everyone's yapping about how you should "git gud" if the game is hard, but HOW TF AM I SUPPOSED TO GIT GUD AGAINST RANDOM 2X DAMAGE!?
This game is not about "git gud" as much as it about your luck and ability to spam V button (thanks for allowing stimming with full health at least, for me that's the only good change in this big patch)
How to "Get Gud against random x2 damage."
Step one: Use cover
Step two: Watch your flanks
There is no Step three. That's it. That's all you have to do.
@@horrorfan117 yea, awesome, I have a better solution - don't engage in combat... in a shooter...
Find cover in a plane field, you genius, and most of the map IS just a plain field.
@@horrorfan117 or if, in a less polite way - your response is a complete degeneracy
@@horrorfan117 tldr "just don't get hit" is bs and doesn't solve the problem
You have more tools than you know. But only if you prepared for it.
Shield gen, portable shield gen, and the riot shield provide excellent temporary cover.
Not because of a certain bug but just the amount of enemies and all of these inputs at the same time made my PlayStation 5 completely shit itself, and it’s one of the newer models
big oof, yeah they didn't optimize the update for consoles
35:14 "System intended to prevent softlocks where players can drop on important interaction points"

Yeah could've just said what you meant without the bs padding beforehand.
What a condescending announcement that was
Ah sei italiano anche tu?

@@Doc.BlackWolf Grande. Ne ho visti pochi di italiani che fanno content su. Helldivers
@@technologicalwaste7612 yeah that's right, i think it went like this:
"guys, the Railgun is broken, i've seen countless videos about it oneshotting bile titans" and they started thinking about it, toying around with it, maybe they tested it on PS5 where that bug would OBVIOUSLY occur, so they quickly butchered it by heavily reducing the values and went like "yeah that should do :)" they maybe didn't test it, or maybe they tested it and just dropped the update like that.
