The bill, which DeSantis signed on Thursday, lists phosphogypsum among “recyclable materials” that can be used for road construction.
Phosphogypsum, a waste byproduct of phosphate fertilizer mining, “emits radon, a radioactive gas,” and contains uranium, thorium and radium, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Radon is “potentially cancer-causing,” an EPA spokesperson told CBS News.
This is what I was referring to when talking about the radioactive tailings.
One more thing about gathering nettles: it can be done WITHOUT gloves.
But, very gingerly these gloves must be done without! Instead do this:
Approach a nettle stem from the top and push your fingers downward
into the stem before breaking it off. That way the stinging juice won't
penetrate into you from the spear-points of the nettle necks ...
Excellent work on this fascinating subject. As always, Robert cuts through the nonsense to deliver solid facts. Good job!
