The cool thing about Bugattis is that they weigh a million tons and still get that insane performance, with all the luxury and ride quality you could ask for. Of course they cost a trillion megabucks and aren't going to handle as well as a Ferrari or Lambo, but they still handle way better than any owner will ever even come close to needing.
That's not fair, the lamb will go to headstart.

Garron ah The Veyron won the first race by a large margin. On the second race it appeared to bog a bit on the launch but still looked like it won. It's basic depth perception.
Not only that but Veyrons have stupid top end power. Even with the blower, the Huracan is not going to have the power to take down a Veyron. Had it been turbo the results may have been different, but I doubt they have a blower on there large enough to give an extra 500 wheel horsepower which is about what it would need to have a chance. A large enough turbo could easily do that but a supercharger favors low and mid-range power. It would have had to be a huge blower to give the Huracan a chance.
manrightchea wrong, they are using a centri blower on the huracans, not a roots blower. All the power comes up top , boost is raised by rpm. They don’t need 1000whp to walk the Bugatti, 800whp would be plenty. The huracan has a massive weight advantage over the Bugatti, doesn’t need as much power to be equally as fast.
zenithskull I know the stats of the Huracan and what it would need to win. I also know what a centrifugal blower is but that doesn't change the fact that it would have to be pretty large to give them the kind of power they would need. If it were a quarter mile I would agree with you, but you're not going to beat a Veyron in a half mile race without a significant power advantage or at least equal power and weight advantage.
The Veyron when using both keys has over 1050ish horsepower, which is also likely underrated. So they still need about 500 wheel horsepower more to have a chance. Centrifugal blowers are still limited by pulley size and engine RPM. They do favor top-end more than a Roots style, but they still do not offer the top end of a turbo.
They never showed the size of the blower on that engine, but the sheer size of blower they would need made me know right away that the Huracan was about to lose bad, which it did. I doubt that engine cover will even close if they had the size blower they would need to win. Even accounting for all drivetrain loss, the Huracan is at a huge disadvantage. Weight affects acceleration more than top speed. The Veyron has a significant power advantage and very likely a huge gearing advantage as well.
I never stated what kind of blower it was because it should have been common sense that it would be centrifugal. Doesn't change the fact that I'm right, which is why the Veyron won.
manrightchea you are clearly clueless and just like to hear yourself talk. The Bugatti is no where near as fast as you make it seem. The Bugatti’s best change is from a dig, that huracan will pull much harder up top. Engine cover is irrelvant to blower size on a centri as the blower won’t even be near the top of the motor lol. Again the Bugatti makes about 850awhp but weighs 4500lbs, the Lamborghini on needs 800awhp to walk it. You don’t understand physics if you believe the lambo needs more power than the Bugatti to be faster. The Bugatti launches much harder but doesn’t accelerate as fast as the lambo will in the higher 100’s. You can deny this but it’s fact.
zenithskull Bullshit, it's you that doesn't know what you're talking about. I can tell you've never actually built any engines nor any vehicles for that matter. There is such a thing called drivetrain loss. That Huracan does not have the wheel horsepower even with a blower to contend with that Bugatti, which is why it lost.
That engine bay is very compact and centrifugal supercharger setups require a lot of space. Not much less space than a large turbocharger. You can't just put it where you want it like a turbocharger it has to be by the serpentine belts driven by the crankshaft. So yes, space requirements do matter especially on a rear/mid-engine car.
The Veyron has a significant wheel horsepower advantage, and like I told you acceleration is not the same as speed. Those two things are different, learn the difference. The Veyron has a significant top speed advantage because of gearing and power advantage. This is not a quarter mile race, it is a half mile race. The only way you could not understand what I'm saying is that you have never actually drag raced in your life. You also make the assumption that the Veyron is completely stock, which would exacerbate the deficit in horsepower. That Huracan would struggle against a stock Veyron much less one that has been modified, which again is why it lost.
I hate when people like yourself try to speak as if you know what you're talkin about when you probably have no background at all in cars or building motors.
Something being boosted does not magically make it faster. It is a combination of many things, specifically gearing, torque characteristics and power. Acceleration dictates quickness not top speed, why don't you learn physics. "Pull much harder up top" my ass. The Veyron is one of the fastest cars in the world in top-end power bone stock, going to take more than a couple hundred horsepower from a blower to beat it up top.
You are the one that needs to learn. Building cars on a video game does not mean you know what you're talking about.

The mic really isn't picking up the sound that thing makes. It sounds like something industrial as it rumbles past. That engine is really something else.

I've heard it in person twice, last month there was one at cars and coffee and he gave it a little go go. No where near full tilt, but you could still make out that thundering sound. I film the event just about every month, and I caught it leaving the show.
