"Secrets Of A Lost Satellite" Was so good and Thank You for sending me all the posters and stuff back in 2007 when your were touring. I was in Louisiana and then before that I was a fan of Magnified and then you guys smoked a bowl with my brother and his friends in Norfolk, Virginia back in 1995? Fantastic Planet album was and is my personal top 10 albums of all time. When "Stuck On You" single dropped you sent my brother a special Stuck On You CD in the shape of the planet logo or whatever and a bunch of merchandise. So between me and my brother especially me because I stuck stuck with you I love your music. Your voice is like a drug and your words are it's waves of euphoria. I know you heard this from other and your album Fantastic Planet in NO way caused me to end up using heroin. But especially during my addiction and after I got clean that album became 3 different meanings to me through the past 25 years. When I was 14 first hearing it thinking it sounded NEW and cool, then listening to it high as your voice and songs went well with the nod, then after getting clean the awakening and the way its still soothing but like a lesson learned not wasted. KEEP doing your stuff. I love to write and I know I have some great stuff that no on will ever hear because I cannot sing at all but you inspire me and have for all my life. Thanks Ken!
I wish you'd put the ON stuff up on Spotify under Ken Andrews, even though I own those albums (and the Soluble Words single on vinyl, gift from a record store owner). Shifting Skin is really good and still holds up, shouldn't be forgotten about in this digital epoch.

Hi Ken, in your songwriting process with Greg, what determines who will be playing bass and guitar? Have always wondered that since there is so much instrument switching going on. And do you personally have a preference as to your favorite instrument?
In the studio is simply about who has the best ideas on whatever instrument and who feels like playing. On stage it's generally about me choosing the easier of the parts to play since I'm also doing most of the singing. Sometimes that is the guitar, and sometimes that is the bass. There are times when I have to learn parts I didn't play in the studio for live.
Hey ken...i know im full of questions...but I've had one for a while...i want to go full in ear monitoring...but I habe diillema... How do you make patches that sound good both through the PA and the in ear monitors... everytime i make good patches...ezpecially heavy distortion...it sounds like ass through my in ear monitors.... I need help!
this is a major problem for sure. I generally try and avoid creating or tweaking patches that much with in-ears. If the goal is sounding good on a good PA then using studio monitors will be your best bet, followed by good headphones, and lastly in-ear monitors. in-ears were made so artists could wear headphones while performing and not look like they were wearing headphones. making them sound good has been a real battle because the nature of having tiny drives in your ear canal is not really conducive to good sound. I really noticed this recently when doing a writing session with Failure. The difference in sound quality between my $1000 in-ears and $300 headphones was really stark. Headphones, 10 times better. What I try and do with in-ears is eq and compress the whole mix so that things sound better. that way I'm not adjusting the guitar and bass sounds that go to the PA.
@@KenAndrewsMusic kool. Great answer. So best bet is to eq and compress the entire babd mix separately from the PA? Sweeten it as much as possible. Right? I usyally tweak my patches on my Alto ts208 full range pa speaker. It serves kinda like the amplifier in a conventional rig...but without any...or least amount possible of coloring...so i think my patches translate well to most modern pa equipment. So basically for now...its going to be something to live with...less than perfect tone through my monitors? Abd your right about headphones.... My guitar soubds much better through my over ear audio technica headphones than my shure se 215 in ears or mackie cr buds...
