I never thought I’d actually miss genericore but god I was wrong. I love these simplistic musical arrangements, subpar clean vocals and basic breakdowns 🖤🤘🏽
I've never listened to this band but from years of listening to all sorts of metalcore, this is weak. The first 10 seconds of the song had the biggest punch because it opened up strong but then it played out in a way we've all seen a million times before. It never hit any harder than the intro with no new things brought to the table. The second the song started I was like, "Oh shit okay" but then I listened to the rest and it just felt weak. Bands need to have their lead guitarists crank up the fuckin volume instead if hearing nothing but rhythm guitar chord all the time. Good example is As I Lay Dying. They're another band that I don't listen to but listen to Overcome and compare it to this song. You're playing instruments so get into it. Embrace your guitar skills instead if hitting low chords for the whole song. Wage War and Architects both made similar riffs that sounded bad ass. Wage War has Low and Architects has Doomsday. Take note to other bands and evolve your sound because this is bland. And I rarely say that.
