Hello you lovely lot, just a quicky. It all went a bit t*ts up this week. Just managed to edit this vlog on Saturday with a lot of grunting and moaning but got it done just before heading to the hospital with Appendicitis. Just been released from hospital so will sit down tomorrow to answer your comments. Im feeling fine and letting Ady do all the work this week while I supervise from the comfy chair. Hayley (Nanny)
@@johnrimmer5955 Thankyou John, Yes been a bit of a mad week but im feeling much better and have even got a bit of painting done today. Got to take it steady but doing fine 👍
Lol the bigger the hole the bigger the spiders too funny 😂 Really enjoy how you are explaining the reasoning why you are doing things the way you are for ease of repairs if ever needed Looking so nice 👍
Being a fellow builder I really appreciate your detail to show others how a true professional should build a narrow boat. Great blogs can't wait for next Sunday update. P.s nana does a fine job also
Fantastic thankyou very much. Its a bit scary knowing that other builders watch what we are doing so really appreciate your comment. There is still a long way to go yet and lots of mistakes to make lol but glad you are enjoying them 👍
Cheers Simon. When we were first thinking about having a go ourselves we watched lots of fit out vlogs and never 2 were the same. Everyone has their own ideas so when we decided to go for it and vlog the build not just for our own keepsake but for others to watch, we wanted to show each step that we go through. That way future self builders can see what it entails, what they can do differently and actually how much work and time it entails. One day we hope to sit down and calculate how much it has all cost and show our watchers. hahaha We are just plucking up courage to do that without crying on camera. Glad you are enjoying them.
My wife and I both cheered when we saw the water tank sensor! We don't understand why everybody doesn't have one of these. What sort of doofus needs to check how much water they have with a stick! The only better system I've seen, is a gentleman who added a reverse osmosis water filter system to his boat, and says that he only has to fill up with water once a year or so. The rest of the time he's reusing the water that normally would be ejected into the canal. I saw one other suggestion, from a plumber, where he had a piece of stiff bent copper with a hose fitting on one end, and he would use that on the end of his hose, to go into the water tank. He may well also have had a filter, because sometimes taps are not necessarily clean.
Thanks Mate, Yes they are a useful bit of kit and we like the idea of just looking at a gauge rather than having to dip the tank or guess etc. They are quite pricey for what they are in the uk and i think that puts people off. We paid £85 but see them advertised for up to £140. How good they are it remains to be seen but we shall see.
Just caught up with last couple of vlogs . You can tell you have lots of experience with different trades Ady, plumbing ,tiling electrics etc are first class , paired with Hayley & her skills ( not forgetting the bin lids input) the boat will be cracking . You have been blown up with electrics then had appendicitis Nanny what you planning on this week ?
Congratulations to both of you for doing such a thorough and excellent job. Your videos are also very helpful and instructional. Could i ask what size cable you've used to connect the whale gulper and also the water pump? When you did the lights you were (in your words) over cautious by using 2.5mm when maybe 1.5mm or even 1mm would have sufficed. Am curious if you've followed this way of thinking on your other 12 v circuits. Many thanks and keep up the good work. Looking forward ro launch day and seeing the finished boat.
Thankyou Sean, Yes you are right I have oversized the Gulper, Bilge Pumps and Water Pump too with 6mm. I would rather be over than under sized. Thanks for you support👍
Greetings, Just getting caught with the Vlogs !!! Fascinating to see the quality of the work you both do. Hayley, I loved the sand / paint non-slip markers you did in the engine bay... Ady, great work ethics. You must've been a brilliant plumber. The folder you showed earlier about the lighting means this was very well thought out. Did you do this while waiting for the NB build? Cheers TTFN xx
Cheers George, First thing was the cost. We were at the top of our budget with the shell only and it was an extra £800 for the sand blasting and 2 pack. The second reason for us was we know we want to take her out of the water every 2 to 3 years to check all is ok. so will be easy to clean her and re-black anyway while she is out. That way we wont always be wondering how the bottom is doing.
I love watching your videos! You both are so detailed in everything you do! Could you please tell me the brand and color of the blue walls in the bathroom?
Thankyou Gloria. Yes the blue is a great colour goes on really nice and covers everything so well. It is B&Q's own brand of mixed paint VALSPAR and the colour is Shale Blue in a Kitchen and Bathroom soft sheen 👌

More useful stuff for those of us thinking of fitting out a boat with no experience.

Glad you enjoyed it! yes done all the wiring plans before we got the boat. Kept me awake a few nights I can tell ya.
Great job as usual. What made you choose traditional bitumen blacking over 2 pack epoxy?
