I can only say that it is worth the wait, if you charge the battery and use it as intended, it is one of the most amazing SUVs to drive with lots of excess power if you run out of battery and use it as a regular hybrid driver I easily 6.5 liters per. 100 km or 15.4 km pr. Liters As far as I know, no other competitor in the same PHEV class can do it, so thanks to all the Toyota Prius drivers who have helped to improve the hybrid system over the years 🙂
@@daweigo6851 Hi I paid 150,835.80 in your currency in Denmark and yes it is worth all the money if you understand the value of having a car built of the best materials with the best and latest technology in all purposes, you get a car that is the most flawless car brand in the world then buy it .. if not then buy something German where you visit your mechanic several times a year but it can also be a way to make new friends ;-) and if you do not care about high luxury and driving comfort then buy Toyota Rav. 4 plugin hybrid quality is far better than all German brands especially after 5-7 years
@@erin4938 There is no 450H + head that has installed 1, mark levinson 2. electric folding seats at the rear 3. panoramic moonroof..it's a combination of space at the back and especially weight gain there are some who think they can get it in the usa but it applies to the whole world for now
Great review. I was hesitant to order the 450h+ because of the lack of supreme audio - you’re the only reviewer to mention weight was the reason for not including it.
The added cost of the Mark levenson is OUCH! alot of cash $2000.00+ Not worth it as the orig 10 speaker system is a solid B ML = A....however I have heard them both and increase is marginal and indeed if you are on the open freeway @ 70 mph No sound system will sound as good as your stereo at home...better to take the aforementioned $2000.00 anp put it in HOME stereo or simply do a tweak at a Auto audio company for $1000.00 and save your money...HOWEVER the on board 10 speaker system is no dog!

This thing is hot and something I would love to own. The real negative here is Run Flats on a 90k car. That'd be the first thing to go. This will be a totally different car on real good tyres
Many (if not all) BMW's, including my $125K X4 M40i come with run flat tyres. I've never had an issue with them on this vehicle or previous BMW's. Not a deal breaker.
The other thing to keep in mind is that if you buy this in VIC (and soon other states) you will be charged by the km due to the ZLEV road user charge. In Victoria for PHEV this is currently 2 cents /km driven due at each registration renewal.
I can't believe you have to pay extra to the Gov to use an EV. In ACT we get complete complimentary stamp duty on this ev, for the 300ux you even get two years free registration. Surely these taxes on EVs will be removed in coming years rather than implemented

It really should be the other way around. We should be incentivised to buy an EV not penalised- but that’s the oil companies controlling the government again…
I spoke with a dealer today. The missing functions also extend the autonomous parking. The dealer said the missing functions were likely a result of efforts to keep costs below $100k rather than weight. Makes sense.
@@chasingcars Given that these are also missing in North America, where the sticker price is well below $100k, it doesn't seem likely that they've excluded these features to come in under a six-figure price tag.
Great review as always Tom, quick question, I take it to achieve the 60- 70 km EV range you would consistently have to charge to 100% and then discharge the battery to zero, how does that effect the battery chemistry over time and it’s ability to sustain that over the life of the vehicle?
I have a 2017 Fusion Energi that I charge every night and afternoon in my garage and then in my parking spot at work, it has 60k on it, and it still gets about 21 miles of electric range on the highway, which is pretty much where it started. The battery tech in cars is far more managed and longer lasting than it is in phones thanks to the lack of space and weight restraints.
Thanks for this video. One point : when you present your choice between 350 & 450, I think you miss one key element. How easy gonna be the resale, at what level of price as the law increase constraints on non electric car. On the top of that, the 450 doesn’t consume more fuel than the 350 when battery is low. I extensively test drove this new NX, the only issue I have is the interior noise. I don't know why everyone says it's a quiet car, in my opinion it's loud especially the 350h with cvt transmission and the package with bigger tires. it's got a really loud interior for a luxury car. anyway, I place an order for its other benefits. good review btw.
So people say the NX 450H+ is very quite, and here you come talking about 350h (not +) etc. My gosh you are behind mentally. So don't buy one because you obviously should drive something else that you can understand how to compare ;)

They should have included the panoramic sunroof and the premium speaker package. It's already a heavy car so the extra weight of these would be minor in the scheme of things.
It actually does impact, A LOT in "scheme of things". Basically adding sunroof the weight ratio goes above the standard limits, meaning it wouldn't be able to count as environmental as it does now. They didn't to it to annoy boys like you on YT that think you can slap on anything that you want without any kind of problem. It's just simple IMPOSSIBLE weight wise as of current regulations and standards in the world IF you want to keep all the good data values as it currently has.

I own the 2022 450h+ F sport..In Atomic Silver Glows in the Sun Light with Lil" grey metal flake" and same Circut Red interior.. but with Electric battery...Has 306 Horse power 0 to 60 in 5.6 sec (Via Road and track at drag strip!.) This model DOES- NOT have a TURBO...But rather Naturally aspirated / Carb...........important because it is well known that TURBOS stress engines...simply see euro cars shop time!....this car combines the Elec Batt and engine to achieve HIGH torq, And VERY quick out of the hole...Jus' blew the doors off a 735i beemer...albeit for nly a block ...V* would have caught up in the end (in all fairness......However who cares the thrill is initial take off and tickets are for high speed & Kill's! My car has Red Calipers against Powder coated Gloss spoke Black mags and All red "F" Sport Badges........ Great review, Tom. RE your comment on ride compliance, did it feel firm even on the softest adaptive suspension setting? As for steering, did it feel vague? Some reviews are suggesting the latter.
The F Sport on 20s and low profile tyres is never soft - for that, go for a standard NX on 18” wheels (with no cooled seats as an unfortunate trade off). Comfort/normal mode gives some road feel, but it isn’t uncomfortable. The bigger issue is body control for the PHEV, which is less poised than the 180kg-lighter NX350h (as you’d expect)
In Singapore, the NX450h+ will be costing over 340K, a little over 3x more than in Aussie. Moreover Lexus in SIN only bring in the F-Sport version for the 450h+ 😰😰
Do they have a non f sport 450h+ with mark levinson and panoramic sunroof like the less expensive powertrains ? otherwise there's absolutely no point of getting an expensive phev if you cant even get the luxury.
It find it’s strange when you’re talking about the infotainment but not bother to move your cameras over to show the screen or when you talk about the boot space but your cameras is 10m away at an awkward angle where no one can see what you’re talking about.
The launch of a brand new car is an extremely packed day - we do our best but can’t always have unlimited time to shoot every angle as well as we’d like to. Hopefully you get the picture
Hopefully people make enough noise they will add the Mark Levinson sound as an inclusion in a few years when they release the upgrade or “crafted edition”. Maybe they excluded it to get it under 100k and fuel consumption to look better on paper for initial release. Terrible decision.
I think the deletion of the panoramic sunroof and premium sound is purely to maximise the profit margin while keeping the price < $100k. Saying it is weight saving sounds like marketing spin to make deletion of options sound like it's for your benefit....typical car distributor BS.
I use 12V plug in powere in boot to inflate puddle board. How NX 450+ battery works.. I e. The car needs to be powered on which I have to for petrol car. Thanks for your advice in advance.
Nice review, but just one huge problem. The local dealer in Sutherland Sydney just told me yes, they have one on display and to test drive, BUT the wait time is up to FOUR YEARS! Yes, that's right, FOUR YEARS! Told him I'll cross it off my shortlist, as in 4 years not only will it be a different vehicle, it'll be a different price!
The weight of a subwoofer and also an amplifier to drive it would add almost another battery to the overall weight. The battery here already alone adds a .8 to the L\100km scale

It kinda means too the actual top of the line is 350 or 350h AWD with the enhancement pack 2. All the 450h+ is now is an expensive powertrain with not quite top tier specs.
The ML is Freak'n $2000.00 add on............CLEARLY NOT worth it ..the on board 10 speaker is a solid and the ML is an A however coupled with any road noise SAVE your money!
Good review. I understand rear windows and rear windscreen are tinted for privacy. Are front window glasses soft tinted to block UV or not? Also are these glasses double layered to reduce road noise. Your feedback would be appreciated. CHEERS.

I have had a NX350h 2WD for three plus years and I must say it takes very little acceleration from stand still or slow speed (even on bone dry surfaces) to spin the wheels, which is quite annoying; next time I will go for a 4WD
According to the Lexus Australia website, it does have the digital mirror. Having driven one, I think the optical mirror is superior for most driving situations.
In terms of self-charing capability, is the NX450h different from NX350h? For very long trip, is there any chance that the battery in NX450h is completely used up even in HV mode?
Not that I could even afford one of these, but if I was paying for a top of the range car with all the bells and whistles, I would want the premium sound package to go with it! 😅

The Solar in the house argument is a dumb thing to say , since to be able to charge you plug in hybrid or Ev you will need bigger solar and battery which add the cost. people seems forget that the when they go home from work to charge their EV and PHEV the sun already down so they need to rely on the battery capacity at their home, assuming that it fully charge even through the house consume power also . I assume the presenter have big house near the city. This the similar argument of my cousin , yeah when he get Tesla Y even though he live in apartment. when we ask him how he gonna charge the car? his argument is plenty of work have free EV charger like the 3 data center near my apartment , and when we ask if his job have free charger? the answer is no, his job like alot of us dont even give free parking. My other cousin buy NX450h and he have a small house near Sydney CBD , he never mention about solar, because he know his house is not ideal for solar, its have small roof area, and block most of the day either by neighbor tree or neighboring apartment. Yeah In ideal world we have access affordable big house with subsidies solar and battery. but the reality is far from that . I think PHEV is the current thing to do, buy only if you have a house otherwise Hybrid is the way to go.
Your use case isn’t that of everybody in the country though? How about this: NX does the morning school run, is parked up for four hours during the sunlit day, then it does the school pickup and errands.

You can also set a charging schedule from the head unit so you can charge off peak and monitor charging via the App.

Batteries have charge cycles, once you exhaust them, time to replace

The F Sport on 20s and low profile tyres is never soft - for that, go for a standard NX on 18” wheels (with no cooled seats as an unfortunate trade off). Comfort/normal mode gives some road feel, but it isn’t uncomfortable. The bigger issue is body control for the PHEV, which is less poised than the 180kg-lighter NX350h (as you’d expect)

It find it’s strange when you’re talking about the infotainment but not bother to move your cameras over to show the screen or when you talk about the boot space but your cameras is 10m away at an awkward angle where no one can see what you’re talking about.

Hopefully people make enough noise they will add the Mark Levinson sound as an inclusion in a few years when they release the upgrade or “crafted edition”. Maybe they excluded it to get it under 100k and fuel consumption to look better on paper for initial release. Terrible decision.
I think the deletion of the panoramic sunroof and premium sound is purely to maximise the profit margin while keeping the price < $100k. Saying it is weight saving sounds like marketing spin to make deletion of options sound like it's for your benefit....typical car distributor BS.

It’s only a small sub in the boot door (that’s what my 2018 nx had) an amp and extra speakers. How much weight could it really add?

Nice review, but just one huge problem. The local dealer in Sutherland Sydney just told me yes, they have one on display and to test drive, BUT the wait time is up to FOUR YEARS! Wow the lack of a mark Levinson system is an appalling omission really.
The weight of a subwoofer and also an amplifier to drive it would add almost another battery to the overall weight. The battery here already alone adds a .8 to the L\100km scale

It kinda means too the actual top of the line is 350 or 350h AWD with the enhancement pack 2. All the 450h+ is now is an expensive powertrain with not quite top tier specs.
The ML is Freak'n $2000.00 add on............CLEARLY NOT worth it ..the on board 10 speaker is a solid and the ML is an A however coupled with any road noise SAVE your money!

I have had a NX350h 2WD for three plus years and I must say it takes very little acceleration from stand still or slow speed (even on bone dry surfaces) to spin the wheels, which is quite annoying; next time I will go for a 4WD

According to the Lexus Australia website, it does have the digital mirror. Having driven one, I think the optical mirror is superior for most driving situations.

The Solar in the house argument is a dumb thing to say , since to be able to charge you plug in hybrid or Ev you will need bigger solar and battery which add the cost. people seems forget that the when they go home from work to charge their EV and PHEV the sun already down so they need to rely on the battery capacity at their home, assuming that it fully charge even through the house consume power also . I assume the presenter have big house near the city.
This the similar argument of my cousin , yeah when he get Tesla Y even though he live in apartment. when we ask him how he gonna charge the car? his argument is plenty of work have free EV charger like the 3 data center near my apartment , and when we ask if his job have free charger? the answer is no, his job like alot of us dont even give free parking.
My other cousin buy NX450h and he have a small house near Sydney CBD , he never mention about solar, because he know his house is not ideal for solar, its have small roof area, and block most of the day either by neighbor tree or neighboring apartment.

I think PHEV is the current thing to do, buy only if you have a house otherwise Hybrid is the way to go.
Your use case isn’t that of everybody in the country though? How about this: NX does the morning school run, is parked up for four hours during the sunlit day, then it does the school pickup and errands.
