- What did the Altar of Burnt offering look like? (Also called the Brazen Altar) Was it really wood covered in Bronze? Did it have a grate that went around the sides? Why Bronze? What is the Spiritual significance?
Here is a 3D visualisation of The Altar of Burnt Offering or The Brazen Altar. It is one of multiple videos showing the various parts and components that comprise the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. My hope is that you will find this video informative and useful in bringing to life the details of the Tabernacle written in the book of Exodus. All the videos here are free to download in HD definition or, with a subscription 4K definition from the Bible Scenes website. My goal is to be able to spend all my working hours re-creating scenes from the Bible that can be used by anyone, free of charge, in any way (with a few conditions). All the scenes of the Tabernacle were created with a combination of Blender and Unreal Engine. Mostly modelled and textured in Blender and then imported into Unreal Engine for rendering.
All the voice overs were done by my good friend, colleague and brother in law Howard Conder.

06 The Altar of Burnt Offering (Brazen Altar). Exodus 27:1-8
27 “You shall make an altar of acacia wood, five cubits long and five cubits wide-the altar shall be square-and its height shall be three cubits. 2 You shall make its horns on its four corners; its horns shall be of one piece with it. And you shall overlay it with bronze. 3 Also you shall make its pans to receive its ashes, and its shovels and its basins and its forks and its firepans; you shall make all its utensils of bronze. 4 You shall make a grate for it, a network of bronze; and on the network you shall make four bronze rings at its four corners. 5 You shall put it under the rim of the altar beneath, that the network may be midway up the altar. 6 And you shall make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with bronze. 7 The poles shall be put in the rings, and the poles shall be on the two sides of the altar to bear it. 8 You shall make it hollow with boards; as it was shown you on the mountain, so shall they make it.
Extremely helpful in being able to visualise this part of scripture, which in truth, is a dry and difficult read. Thanks for binging it to life in this and the associated videos.

I noticed another video shows the grate inside the Altar. I wonder did they cook some of the meat on the Altar and not just burn it? seems like this design has a big fire in the middle. I was reading in NLT I dont remember reading about the rings being on the grating so that might be in the kjv? I like the video tho
Yeah I initially thought it was a bit strange having the rings on the grate but it seems to appear that way in the text (NKJV), I guess that the whole top framework could be lifted off leaving the grate section which could easily be cleaned and ash removed. It would also allow for the carrying of both sections when together. That's how I saw it anyway.

I just looked it up and found this "Acacia is derived from the Hebrew word shittim (Strong's #7848) which is used in the King James Bible (Exodus 25:5, 10, 13, 23, etc.)." from this web site: www.biblestudy.org/beginner/definition-of-christian-terms/acacia-wood.html . Good question though.
