1. Zacht als de stem van een engel, fier als het stil ruisend riet,
zingt, onder schaduw van zorgen, Hoop haar eeuwigheidslied.
Wacht tot de nacht is verdwenen en de storm is bedaard.
Hoop op het zonlicht dat morgen stralen zal over d’ aard.
2. Lijkt ook bij de scheem’ring van de avond, ’t zonlicht oneindig en ver,
toch dringt door ’t nachtelijk duister, schitterend een hemelse ster.
Waart ook de nacht om ons henen, straks breekt het morgenlicht aan.
Zo zullen w’ook na dit leven, eenmaal in ’t glorielicht staan.
3. Hoop van een eeuwige leven, Krachtbron die nimmer vergaat.
