Why does this play like an awesome episode of Top Gear?! Great video, thank you!
It's the Jeremy Clarkson like accent and tone.
I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago when it was £250 on Amazon after watching your review. Brilliant bit of kit, I'm really impressed. Especially good if you have pets, we have a dog so I just set it off to clean each night. No more mucky floors in the morning. Great review as always Stu!
Agree Stu, I have had an N8 for over a year and love it and its clever mapping, highly recommended it just gets on with the job
I recently bought the N8+ for $268 USD. This is my first robot vacuum and I believe I may have just found the most useful, and possibly the coolest, gadget I have ever seen. For the price, I am extremely pleased.
If I had a gripe, it's that the mopping feature won't travel over carpet to an area that you want to mop. In my house, the living room is carpet while the kitchen/dining room and foyer areas are ceramic tile. I have the vac set up in the foyer area and it would be nice if the vacuum would either raise the mop pad as it traverses over carpet, or, if there was a feature to temporarily stop the unit on an area that you want to mop so that you could add the mop attachment. In essence, if I could tell the vac to mop the kitchen/dining room only and have it get to that area and prompt me to insert the mop attachment.
All in all, however, for $268 USD, this is a very, very minor gripe.
Great video (BTW)...very informative and clearly communicated.
Awww Monty needs to feature in more videos, what a legend 😊😂
He's planning a take over im sure of it 😂
Also just bought one. For 250 Euro i think it is quite the good deal. Thanks for the review really helped me decide :D
Stu, I recently bought the Shark 🦈 AI Ultra Robot Vacuum with XL HEPA 60-day self-empty base with LIDAR Navigation.
I love it, though my transitions from LVP to plush carpet in the bedrooms were a bit too much for the Shark to handle reliably, so I had some mini-ramps 3D printed and now it can enter any room, LVP or carpet easily.
Best investment I made in a long time (caught it on an Amazon sale for $380).
Indoor floor cleaning champion. I am using it since 12 May 2023.Very useful product.
I just purchased one:) I was originally going for the one with dock station, but then I found out how difficult is to find those bags for the dust, and decided to go without "+" :D
Ok so I bought one of these after seeing your review and so far I think this may be the best gadget I have ever bought 😳 Mop function is useless, but the hoover and the whole radar / guidance system is brilliant. Love it. I got it for £259 and I see the price has shot up now to 310 after vouchers.
I told you! 👌👌👌
Which one did you buy? And what is wrong with mop function?
I bought the N8+ (includes the self-emptying dock) during Black Friday last year for £430. It didn't deliver on its promise when it comes to detecting things in its path. I often see it repeatedly banging into things or trying to climb over them. Ironing board feet, bar stools legs etc, even though the lasers can supposedly see these objects. The objects were there when the Ecovacs created the map the very first time so I don't know why it thinks it will be successful if it keeps trying. Madness. But, I still prefer to have a robot vacuum. It's a LOT quite than the Henry and I try to run it when I'm out (returning home to clean floors and avoid hearing the loud bangs as it tries to climb over the same things day after day). I have called it MadBot. The positives: It cleans very well on wood floors and fairly well on carpets. Looks nice. Back to negatives (as there are many): Doesn't fully empty the cannister into the auto-emptying station (sometimes defeats the purpose of having spent about £150 extra). No HomeKit support (only Shortcuts which I don't find to be user-friendly). It often forgets the maps and starts that process all over again. Summary: An expensive stepping-stone until something better comes along. It'll do for now.
Someone mentioned about chromed items in another comment - are these things like ironing board and bar stools chromed? Also - there is a certain amount of nudging it will do I guess to ensure it’s getting right in the corners!
Also interesting about it forgetting mapping - I’ve not yet had to re map once (even with the T8 that we’ve had for a year now)… so not sure what’s going on there! Might be worth an email to ecovacs to see what they say!
Also be careful of hardwood floors. I f you have the mop installed it will bypass the vac cycle
That Felt like watching top gear for robot vacuum cleaners.
And on that bombshell.....
Stu
I too have bought the N8 after seeing your review & after trying it out I’ve also bought one for my brother in law (who just happened to have a broken dyson). I agree about the dishwasher moment…. I feel the same too….. Just need to make my mind up about the secret labs chair now ……..🤷🏻
Keep up the good work - it’s great to watch your reviews 👍🏻
Get the Secret Labs chair. You won't regret it at all. Best chair I've ever bought in my life.
@@Vluxuation Cheers Chris - thanks for the recommendation 👍🏻
I have an old ecovacs deebot and it's great but was second hand when I got it. The N8 looks great and would be perfect for my house which is mostly wooden floors and with 2 small boys the auto empty would be great. They think it's like a star wars robot lol.
After watching this vlog. I did some homework and picked up one on Amazon for £259 with a £30 discount voucher 🙂. Arrived today and so much better than my old robot vacuum. Great review and recommendation stu 👍 ps wish my dog wasn't so scared by it! 🤣
Just got the N8. My short term findings are 1) get the emptying station as this thing sucks well but does not hold much before it fills up. 2) Mopping can not get across from a hard floor to another hard floor via a carpeted room (I.e. ensuite via bathroom doesn't work).
Yeah it avoids carpet on purpose to that is doesn’t get it wet - unfortunately they all do it. I said in my review of the omni that I can’t wait until they make retractable mops so it can do everything in one run!
I’ve the ECOVACS OMNI 920 and been about 2 years. She runs every other day, sometimes daily. I have to empty the trash after every run. Have 2 doggies and sometimes she does forget where she is and remaps but all in all she is a good girl. I sporadically use the floor washing function if I’m on my way out, but I can get a better scrub done more quickly with me please rag and stick. I am thinking to upgrade at the new house and am also loosing my weekly cleaning lady. I like the idea of not emptying every time. Am just doing my homework now but from your review, others and my own ECOVACS being reliable I’ll stick with this brand. My ole “Dingbat” which is what I named her will be passed on to my son.
Stu I've had and given away more than I'd like to think. Just off my head

Considering to order the ecovacs n8 and the eufy LR30 hybrid.
I should start reviewing them 😁
I’m about to test the yeedi out as well 👍
@@StusReviewsUK yeedi is a great vacuum. I like it so much that I just won the n8 new for £158 on eBay! LiDAR is the way forward, the camera is ok but it needs light to work. Also carpet lines are wonky although it does cover quite well. Funny enough yeedi is the first I’ve had where it doesn’t hop on carpet.
i love the top gear style editing and commentary HAHA
Just picked up the N8 from Amazon today with a FREE Deebot U2 and £180 off the N8. Total £168 for two robot vacs? Absolute bargain. Great review.
How did you get 168? I bought the same but added the "free" extra consumables. Please tell me I didn't pay £51 for the "free" filters and mop pads!!
@@MrStandishmark @olyscott8 do you have a link, can't see any other promotions aside from the black Friday reduction
There’s £180 off voucher and then three offers. One offer is for a free U2 and the others for accessories. I apologise I forgot I had £48 in Amazon vouchers which were use too. Still a great deal for two vacs.
@Oliver Scott just to let you know how that offer is broken down if you wanted to return anything for refund as it can be quite a bargain!
N8 - £59
U2 - £110
Acc1 - 27
Acc2 - 23
So. If you were to return the accessories (which I'll be doing as theyres side brushes spare in the u2 and enough pads to last a fair while) that's £50+ back.
If you also sent the U2 back.....
The N8 would end up being £59!!!
I'm struggling to keep the u2 knowing that i can get £110 back for it
Hello sir , thanks for the detailed video on the n8 , there are are very few videos on the internet explaining about the robotic vacuum cleaners
Sir I am currently planning to buy ecovacs n8 but I am confused whether to buy the n8 or mi mop 2 pro
Please suggest me
I came to this video to check out the N8 model before pulling the trigger on the offer Amazon currently have. £219 plus a free Ecovacs U2
I bought one of these for 270 quid today equal to Indian money in india today and am looking forward to it meeting this review, Bought it specifically for my new Cattery and I hope I made the right choice
Let me know how you get on!
Good to know you can stop it entering certain areas. Does this mean I could stop it leaving my living room and entering the kitchen?
Thank you for the review. The major thing in this video, at least for me is the info about dog hair, and that I can remove that brush!! I have a corgi, and I'm thinking which robot to get, but also not to sell my kidney to do that :D. So I think I'll go with N8 pro+.
I have had a few Neato’s. Still holding on to my Neato botvac 85 which is on it’s 3rd battery. The only problem is chrome legs on tables and chairs, which I have reduced changing all furniture in my latest move.
Whats happened to the chrome??? 👀
@@StusReviewsUK It cannot see it and bumps the table and gets stuck between 6 dining chairs.
Interesting! That must be because of the mirrored finish! I’d never even thought about that. Do you know what navigation hardware it uses?
@@StusReviewsUK It’s Lidar as far as I know
I have two iRobot vacuums. And had for many years. Cost a small fortune but both work very well. I tried an iRobot dedicated mop and it was rubbish and so I’m not so interested in this function I feel most likely these robots are too lightweight to manage the kind of mess one gets in the kitchen- but I might be wrong. The extra bin function iRobot came out with a few years ago ( they innovate a lot and have a background in bomb disposal robots - interesting and a museum at their HQ in Boston, which I enjoyed) but the price is too much for my stomach- so maybe you have an answer in the N8….let’s see. Thanks for another great video!
I was wondering how loud the thing was wandering around? Your music drowned that out... and I was watching to Dog to intensely to really listen to the vac in action!:) Lets not go over the stair climbing angle again :) - I'm debating buying one, for no other reason than I got a full refund on my Apple Studio, and bored!! :)
I don't think I heard you mention the dust bags required for the auto empty station. It kind of puts me off having to buy something additional for it.
You can buy 3 bags for $19.99 USD. I don't feel like that's much if they will last a month each. I also figure that the more I use this thing, the less junk will be on the floor for it to pick up...meaning, the bags may end up lasting longer than a month apiece. Hope that helps....
Just bought one because my sons allergic to the cat. It goes round twice a day and fills up with cat fluff every day. Life saver
N8 £220 and T8 £280 on Amazon currently with vouchers clicked, runs out tomorrow I believe 17/07/22
Bought one of these today on the strength of your review Stu. Been looking for a robot vacuum cleaner almost since they first began to appear, but could never seem to get the combo of features/price point that I was looking for. Can't wait to give it a try.
I always felt like i couldn't live without my dishwasher ..... until she left .... and it was fine .... I managed ok 😀
.... 👁👄👁
I bought one of these on Black Friday....... Ill be honest i'm pretty sure I can eat off my floors.
I wish I had seen this review a bit sooner as today they have a sale on Amazon and £180 voucher to come off it unfortunately I have made my brother buy me a different one which he now has for my Xmas present 🎁
Does the N8 go underneath sofas if it'll fit? Would be handy if it could do that.
merci mon ami, tres complet, j'ai commandé le mien !!!!
Wow man your videos remind me of top gear style
I hope thats a good thing!
Hi Stu Should I buy the Ecovacs N8 or a Eufy LR30 hybrid as they are both the same price
What do you think of the Wyze one compared to this?
I filled water to reservoir but it showing to remove or empty before charging
This video is surprisingly positive. Is it sponsored?
They don’t have to pay me to say that I’m a *genuine* massive fan of ecovacs products - the osmo920 was my first, which changed my opinion of robot cleaners entirely. Moved onto the t8, then onto the omni (which I’m using currently - first one capable of mopping the floors I have). Out of all I’ve tested since, ecovacs knock it out of the park every time for sure, and this one is an unbelievable price vs value. They’ve all got there small issues like I’ve mentioned in most reviews about them, but overall the good far outweighs any negatives. Hope that helps.
@@StusReviewsUK Not exactly helps, but oh well.
Btw, I have the N79 and we are pretty happy with it's performance (apart the fact that it is not quiet at all). The biggest downside is the battery life. It lasted for about 45 min of work when was new. After 1 year it lasted 15 min (we use it approximately twice a week). Today it is 3.5 years old, battery was replaces 3 times and currently works for about 20 min or so.
How to change battery in this model just asking for a futures because I bought this 2 days ago but looks battery is not easy to change like in previous models
Just bought the n8 and a Deebot U2 for £130 from Amazon
How? I bought the pair but it was 219 with the 2 "free" consumables. Which I think cost me £50 so they'll be going back. But that's still only 170
@@MrStandishmarkMaybe an Amazon business account rate?
Can it go under a10 cm furniture
How do you sound a lot like Jeremy Clarkson from top gear? 😅 Nice video though.✌🏻
Hi Stu, can you help? I did a vac today with no mop pad in and it did a terrific job. I then thought I’d try a vac / mop. I set it going but I wouldn’t move as the mop pad was sticking to the carpet in the living room where the doc is. Is this supposed to recognise it’s on carpet and lift the mop?
i heard that you need to move its start point so that its on a hard floor rather than carpet. Its default mode is to not mop carpets hence wont bother working if it starts on carpet
I haven't tried this yet (but intend to)....the next time I want it to mop, I will wait until it gets to that area and hit "Pause". Then, install the mop pad and let it do its thing. Once it's finished in that area, then I can pause and remove the mop. Hopefully, it will work.
@@cliff4082 got a feeling it'll reset the program if you do that and try to start from scratch at the new location. It doesn't have the function to lift the mop, it will bounce off any carpets and awkwardly clean between the floor/carpet interface
why is it so cheap over there in Uk, I just picked up one for ~$600.
How does it compare with the eufy robovax x8?
Stat wise, they’re similar - although the n8 supposedly has more suction power.
Got them both love then N8 hate the n79
It’s got it’s place as a budget option for sure, but the n8 is miles ahead!
@@StusReviewsUK just noticed the T8 is on at £399 for a week
Its like 500€ in my country
Best review ever! Does it also clean? Special mention to the scotchs in the back. Now I want to drink an Ardbeg 🤤.
Cheers!
Gotta love ardbeg!
Surely any technology can spot your shoes 🛶
Does it polish them, tho? 😆
DO NOT BUY!
*Coming up to 9 months and robot is repeatedly failing with various different faults.
*When you send it away they demand you buy a box yourself and pay to post it yourself - but then if they believe anything is "damaged in transit" they are no longer responsible...
Do not buy - company is a con artist.

Winner Winner - Chicken Dinner! 🍗👑!!!!
Strange, you only comment when your first Ive noticed. 🤔
Terrible piece of kit. After 3 months of owning it, it will not find the docking station, when prompted to manually place on the docking station it will not charge until i do a full network reset. This is my second ecovac in 12 months and will be going for yet another refund. The money spent on this may as well go towards a top of the range cordless hoover with better suction. This thing is just a gimmick
