He's from the older times when gaming was a smaller industry and most executives were people who played and loved video games themselves, which nowdays is basically unheard of and gaming presidents are often people from business schools and ex-CEOs of non-gaming companies. He's part of a dying breed, like Satoru Iwata was.
His background is in business and economics, but he was one of the first execs in the Playstation project in 1993. Back then, that was a gamble, gaming was not the behemoth industry it is today, and they'd be taking on Nintendo, Sega and Atari. I love how the gameplay has been slowed down a little bit, I've always wanted to play co-op but I have cerebral palsy and so I am not the fastest player.
In my opinion this kind of slower gameplay is superior regardless of your circumstances. When you steamroll over enemies and get showered in loot then everything starts to feel trivial, you lose out on those little but interesting interactions that make the game feel alive. I think the "early game" of Diablo 2, when you're still missing gear and severely outgunned, represents the genre at it's best. To me, nothing beats the feeling of wearing the scraps you find on the ground, like a sorceress picking up a broken spear to stab a monster to death because she has run out of mana. That desperation makes you really feel like you're up against a demonic invasion where all hope is lost. It also makes simple interactions like opening a door to a new room have meaning - where as later in the game you end up teleporting past the door into an area two screens away. I could rant about this for days, but you get the idea, it's a win-win!

Canceling an evasive attack is excellent. It allows you to make a mistake and keep control of your character the whole time. Great work on the joystick control, it's more comfortable than the keyboard, thanks. The ability to combine abilities. In the first part was not in this sense, it is long, and the number of slots did not allow you to use more than one attacking ability. Maximum curse. Now there is where to go around, a lot of things I want to write, but first of all I want to play. Thank you so much, kiss every developer on the lips!
What an awesome game! the clean movement, the skill menus, the epic boss fights, the combos, the graphics, the impacts, I can't wait!! 🔥🔥 I hope I can buy an affordable pack to play on 6th Dec! It's my birthday on that day too! 🤣
My favourite thing about all these poe2 videos is how knowledgeable and passionate the dev team is. They have true excitement showing their game off. While d4 released the devs did so many interviews and couldn’t coherently answer direct questions about their own game. Even when they did they looked around and looked confused and didn’t know how to play their own game past the basics. I’m absolutely hyped for this game and will be dropping d4 entirely after this comes out.
Sony gave a huge stage to PoE 2, probably because is their best shot to fight at the arpg market, now that Diablo is a Microsoft franchise. Sure, the game will release at Xbox, Pc and all, but it is huge for them that the game runs on PlayStation.
Good luck with the game GGG, i was a beta tester in PoE1, played with few characters but last time i f... Up with witch and couldn't play anymore. I am very happy that u simplified many stuff
This may have been the most wholesome gameplay walkthrough I've ever seen, how can you dislike GGG bro. They're really the last of a dying breed of devs who wanna deliver high quality content. I'm so excited for this. Seeing Shuhei get told about active block and then having it down pat by the time they got to Hillock was so fire, he was picking it up quick.
Yeah, I usually agree with GGG design choices, but every once in a while their "We are always right" attitude really comes across as annoying as hell. Best example I can think of is removing the Raider--sure it wasn't meta, but it was something that some people enjoyed, I know I only played PoE 1 with the Raider, and I gave them probably close to $1000 over the years in supporter packs. I will never play PoE 1 again after they removed it, and if PoE 2 doesn't have a class like Raider I won't be giving them any money in the future either. Sometimes it feels like they listen too much to the meta players and ONLY the meta players.
We admire what you have done and what you will do in the future, it is crazy beyond magnificent. We truly love you and have endless respect for what you do.
Yeah. Nothing is class locked, and everything is built to be modular rather than only working with a specific thing, so technically the same character could also make magma on the ground then turn into a bear to go into a rampage, but in co-op if these 2 are done by different people it'll be more convenient
Quite possibly. With one of the streamer events (think it was the couch co-op one), they had a Monk put the bell down, and the Mercenary unloaded his Assault Rifle into it. Quite effective, apparently.
@@NemisCassander yeah there seem to be great synergy that's not just "my aura gives you more damage" or "I curse the monster so it's slower and takes more damage."
I'm amazed all over again by POE2. Simply excellent in every way and makes that other one-OP-class game that I shall not name look like an arcade shooter for kids. 2:43 Extremely grateful that GGG has openly made the effort to make POE2 more accessible to new (or returning, like me) players. And it shows abundantly here.

@15:30 oh my god that looks absolutely insane
I am truly amazed and thankful that you will have couch coop available on PC too. I can't wait to introduce my nieces/nephew to this gorgeous game in the future. PS Shut up and take my money!
The firewall effect trailing flames on the Spark spell was fantastic. I love things like this.
Great way to show off some co-op gameplay. Enjoyed the whole video. Mr.Yoshida seemed genuinely impressed. Well done !
The hype is building exiles
Canceling an evasive attack is excellent. It allows you to make a mistake and keep control of your character the whole time. Great work on the joystick control, it's more comfortable than the keyboard, thanks. The ability to combine abilities. In the first part was not in this sense, it is long, and the number of slots did not allow you to use more than one attacking ability. Maximum curse. Now there is where to go around, a lot of things I want to write, but first of all I want to play. Thank you so much, kiss every developer on the lips!
I can't wait to play. Looks amazing great work.
What an awesome game! the clean movement, the skill menus, the epic boss fights, the combos, the graphics, the impacts,
I can't wait!! 🔥🔥
I hope I can buy an affordable pack to play on 6th Dec! It's my birthday on that day too! 🤣
This looks so good. Can't wait.
I'm glad they semplified the game, so many people that were terrified by POE 1 systems will finally play this one
combat looks so cool... and the music is super immersive holy cow
You guys are legends. I never got into PoE1 but PoE is one of my most anticipated games this year.
The Diablo 2 sequel we've always wanted, but never gotten from Blizzard themselves. Glad there's one company capable of delivering a stunning product.
Love how amazed Shuhei Yoshida appears to be - his laugh when Jonathan confirmed that they have over 100 bosses like this one
Pretty sure he said "boss fights" and not "rock tiles"
@@FuZ38100 maybe it's a transcription error then bc that's what the subtitles on the video say.
@@xTobsecretx 18:56 There's other translation error where he says potion but subtitle says poison.
Its so weird how they are like "Know that thing you like in PoE1? We took it out." Like its a good thing.
Shuhei Yoshida´s seal of approval = More investors = More great future content. Congrats!
druid available at launch pleaseee
We admire what you have done and what you will do in the future, it is crazy beyond magnificent. We truly love you and have endless respect for what you do.
The monk fight looked so fucking good
Will there be combos between players in the game? For example, a warrior creates magma on the ground, and a druid re-triggers it with his rampage?
Yeah. Nothing is class locked, and everything is built to be modular rather than only working with a specific thing, so technically the same character could also make magma on the ground then turn into a bear to go into a rampage, but in co-op if these 2 are done by different people it'll be more convenient
definitely
Quite possibly. With one of the streamer events (think it was the couch co-op one), they had a Monk put the bell down, and the Mercenary unloaded his Assault Rifle into it. Quite effective, apparently.
@@NemisCassander yeah there seem to be great synergy that's not just "my aura gives you more damage" or "I curse the monster so it's slower and takes more damage."
Alva? Fighting Viper as part of the campaign? Time travel is on the menu boys!
Well, we barely saw it but I think Viper had a monolith crack effect after death.
Did he just say the campaign will take 50 HOURS?!
free game btw!! in a game, id happily pay $20-$30 if the story or campaign lasts 50hours or more.
@@YakultLitro the early access when it comes out will not be free stop telling everyone that only the public release next year is going to be free!
@@Anon1370 doesnt change the fact during full release you'll have a 50+ hours campaign for free!
This looks amazing and the best feedback to have is wanting to play more and various times that it is FUN, so great job folks, keep up the good work!
🥰🙌🏽 I’m so excited for launch
wow sick game play, really looking forward too playing and experimenting with this !
i am nearly crying, can' t wait for this
I'm amazed all over again by POE2. Simply excellent in every way and makes that other one-OP-class game that I shall not name look like an arcade shooter for kids.
2:43 Extremely grateful that GGG has openly made the effort to make POE2 more accessible to new (or returning, like me) players. And it shows abundantly here.
30 minutes of NEW GAMEPLAY AND DEVELOPER INSIGHTS? Login, Exiles!
quick make vid gogogog
It's been 12 minutes already, you're slacking!
Holy I’m so logged
As someone who lives in Tokyo, I’m excited to see a new game being introduced into the culture. I hope more Japanese people can get into POE.
I’m so excited to try this in dec! But what to do for a month? Maybe go touch some grass 😂
Nah
Only the recreational kind...
This is freaking amazing. This game's gonna be so good.
I honestly don't want to see anything I just want to fucking play
That boss showcase was awesome!!
So this gonna be on ps5 soon?
Early access is in December on PS5
@Discordian_23 thx i did look it up after just surprised sony does early acces now

@@sammysalgado1475 it's not a Sony published game. It's GGGs. It will be in EA for 6-12 months and available on pc ,ps5 and xbox
Thanks for sharing, can't wait to try out myself
Poor jonathan, gonna wake up with a neck cramp from all that terrible posture(im saying that while currently curled into a ball)
新しいゲーム映像もすごいし、日本語リリースも考えられててとても楽しみ🎉
Going to be the best ARPG for a very long time, and it won't even be close.
Aside from the gameplay and mechanics, can we admire how beautiful the soundtracks are in this game ? Like Viper Napuatzi boss fight soundtrack was so on point it gave me goosebumps bro.
As a d2 player I’m very much looking forward to this game
What does d2 got to do with you like to play poe2?
I get the vibe that each boss is some employee's passion project
The Dad and Son playing together at the end is so wholesome
