Note: There is missing footage towards the end of the video. I apologize, I'll try to locate the missing files, but I recorded this a while ago and are likely lost. 😓
Did an audit of my system, I purged my recycle bin before filming the Requiem for Rome video, but I filmed this video prior to that. So I'm SOL. Double apologies, there is no recovering the video. :(
Not sure if you already knew this, but you can find more information on the Purified in world of darkness: immortals. They're honestly one of my favourite immortal templates in the game.
What are your opinions of the "merit templates" in the Hurt Locker, like the non violence guys, lucky, or Lost Boys (my favorite...they're like the lesser template version of Deviant)?
I don’t know too much about them. The Plain get a bad rap because they make allies not able to fight without hurting themselves. The Lost Boys seem cool. I’ve played with a Psychic Vampire that was very fun and interesting. The others I just don’t know well enough I think.
The lesser templates are awesome. Psychic Vampire is one of my favorite things in CofD. They're a wonderful twist for a mortal character and can run along side tier 3 hunters without being outclassed entirely.
@@johncmousley It’s a template that is mortal, but gets a lot more than most templates. Status 1 and Professional Training 2 (I think). Just so that they match the 10 merit dots Supernaturals get.
15:00 purified is CofD attempt at Cultivation Novels. I don't think they executed it well though, and am trying to come up with my own "purified" from scratch
@@shadowcatX2000 indeed. The same entry for them is also used for western alchemists and egyptian mystics, all of whom tried achieve ascencion through some sort of alchemy, internal or external. It is still a bad match for those 2 though... or, to be more precise, the immortal template they came up with was a bad match for the setting they had. This is one template I would hope to see translated to 2nd edition and receive better treatment, perhaps divide it between two different templates, one for internal alchemists and another for external ones. Heck, they could receive their own book. IMO, the major problem is that the Mage's book already have the sleepwalkers, because the Purified best role would be as a mortal in the process of Awakening... at the initial stages he is little better than a mortal with slightly better capacities and longevity, gaining progressively more impressive supernatural traits until they become a true Mage... but that's not how sleepwalkers work, and yet the sleepwalkers already fit that role. my current idea revolves around having the Stair stablish multiple cabalas/"sects" in ancient China, where they would seek Sleepwalkers to bring to the sect and start training them, clearing their "meridians". Sleepwalkers would still be cleansing their bodily meridians (the 12 classic ones, from TCM); Then, once they start clearing their "energy meridians" (again, from TCM), they would upgrade to those sleepwalkers that can actually "store" spells within them; finally, the process of "developing a Core" would be their Awakening into true magehood. Still would need to rewrite quite a lot of lore, maybe even some rules though
@@marcelosilveira2276 Lucky for you it is in second edition, the most recent mummy book has it, the book of lasting death. It is still a mummy immortal though, and not at all connected to Mage. Would make a great werewolf NPC though.
The idea I just had while vibing with my homies. Advertise the game of changeling the lost as if it is going to be a game of hunter (where they'd just start with the normal template, as humans), and plot twist they get dragged to Arcadia after 2 sessions and are now playing changeling. Would be fun, but I'm unsure how to make the plot twist fun the way I'm imagining. Def will try it out tho.

the urge to run a mortal template only game is strong now
Visitors appear in Book of the Lasting Death for Mummy 2e!

Thanks, Corbin, I always enjoy your content very much!

That’s fair. 😅

It's not like the idea of purifying yourself to reach another level of existence was created by those novels.

Where is Slasher 2nd Ed found?
@@s0ulrider it is in the Hunter: The Vigil book. They are Antagonists, but their rules can be for PCs.
