“It’s Over For So Many Tory MPs!” Rishi Sunak Admits Tories May Not Win Election

  • Rishi Sunak has conceded the Conservatives may not win the next general election, as Tory rebels warned him to change his political course after defeats in the local polls.
    The Prime Minister is braced for a continued fallout after the weekend’s local election results, which saw his party unexpectedly lose the West Midlands mayoral race to Labour.
    Speaking to The Times, Mr Sunak suggested the UK was on course for a hung Parliament but claimed voters would not want to see Sir Keir Starmer “propped up in Downing Street” by the SNP or smaller parties.

    The next General Election is going to be a re-run of 1997 when Blair got in with a massive majority. The reason was explained by two Tories on the election night. David Mellor said: "This isn't a one-party state, so sooner or later there's going to be a change of government." Cecil Parkinson also pointed out that no governing party had won more than four General Elections in a row since the second World War. The Tories have now had their four wins so they won't get a fifth. As to Keir Starmer, he is indeed no inspirational leader but then neither was Clement Attlee, and he won the 1945 General Election with a Labour majority of 145 seats. Another reason the Tories will lose is very simple: after 14 years we are sick of the sight of their faces and sick of the sound of their voices. Consequently, we will be glad to get rid of them!

    How can you call it a democracy when your only options are Labour or conservatives? A vote for anyone else simply props up the Tories or labour. I don't want either of them to continue destroying our country. It's time we elected adults to run the country instead of these petty children

      The principle works. The problem is the electorate do not engage - around 40% of them don't even bother to turn up and vote and around another 10% spoil their ballot or vote for Monster Raving Looney so they don't matter. Under our system it has never mattered what you voted for as you end up with the same, what matters is what you vote *against*. If people turn up and vote against what the two main parties are doing by voting for any other then they'd be forced to listen, to change and represent otherwise the minority will continue to drive the agenda.

    • @mjtvalfather
      @mjtvalfather 12 днів тому +3

      @danbrown1517. If you take the view that nothing will ever change - then nothing ever will.
      If you take the view that its pointless voting for a party like Reform because it will "prop up" either Labour or the Tories, then you will get those two parties regardless.
      You can't wait for everyone else to step up before you do. Be the change you want to see - even if it yields nothing in the short term.

    Fick democracy. I think, every so often we should be forced to have 5 years under another party other than Tory or Labour. Or every so often Tory's and Labour should be barred from elections and all the other parties fight it out among themselves. I only suggest this because of the appalling track records of both Conservatives and Labour. If parties leave the country in a worse state than when they came into power (and if this is not due to an overall global trend -which I don't believe it is) then they should rightfully have to take 'time out' (say, 15 years) before they can stand for election again.

It's about our children's our families, schools, jobs and protecting our country. If people do not want to protect our country what are they doing here. So many, in my view, use our country for their own benefit at the detriment to our own.
