  • The Majestic Hotel. A once thriving historic resort in the heart of Hot Springs Arkansas. Closed since 2006. Hot Springs was a favored destination by gangsters like Al Capone as well as the likes of Babe Ruth. The town is built on top of many natural springs and they even have public 'fountains' where locals can fill up jugs of fresh spring water any time they like. There are plans for the hotel to be renovated and restored and they are beginning renovations very soon.

My family visited often for decades and always stayed here. Really sad to see it gone. It was priceless. Used to have the best full breakfast anywhere.

Thank you for documenting The Majestic Hotel. I have fond memories of my sister and I playing in the "kiddie pool" as youngsters back in the 1960s! It is my hope that something will be done to resurrect this grand hotel. As of late, I have learned some of the history related to The Majestic. What a treasure this place was!

Heartbreaking. I stayed there in early 2000s before it was shut down. I stayed at the Arlington my next visit. Was sad to drive by and see it closed. I love Hot Springs. Enjoy the baths and pancake houses for breakfast.

You are so full of talent man. This place is too beautiful to just sit there and rot like that girl said. Alt Capone went there! Another lady said she got away in there! Why let memories fade with something so beautiful? Come on! These days, basically everything is brand new! Of that was open, and if my family owned it... Hot Springs would be a major tourist attraction. So disappointed in the people that want to tear it down. Even abandoned it! I understand money's tight right now, but if I was old enough, it would be mine in a New York heartbeat. I pass it every single day almost. I hate fading happy memories. I just want to go in there and pick it up. Get trash off the floor, and get away with it. I could go in there every single day and do something in every single room. I'd even paint on there when it was cleaned up.

I think they finally tore it down. In the 70s, people just didn't care. I remember when my parents got us up to watch the Como hotel being demolished.

I live in Hot Springs, and I had never been in the Majestic Hotel until yesterday when some friends showed me around and I was just so mad about how whoever it was let the place go like this! I mean, Al Capone used to stay there! They should have at least turn the Majestic into a museum! The place is gorgeous! Now its all trashed and will take tons of time and effort to restore if they ever wanted to restore the place. I hope so. So maybe I can see it for the real beauty the Majestic holds!

My husband and I stayed there in 2002. Had strange feeling the pretty much the whole night we stayed. It was in December. I'm sure we were the only guests staying that night. Strange in itself given the size of the hotel. Thought at one point we were going to be sleeping in the stairwell. The doors were are all locked. Finally we got out of there.Had a really bad feeling in the parking garage. Something bad happened there. Had wonderful meal though. Again we were the only ones there. Was so sad to see it gone.

The old record and its sound quality combined with the images give me a bit of a “Shining” type vibe…but in a more sadder, less spookier way.

Stayed here way back in 2000. It was already in serious decline and need of renovation. I can understand why it closed a few years later.

People keep saying All Capone stayed there but I understand he stayed on the fourth floor of the Arlington hotel. They still have the "Capone" suite there. Well, whatever, maybe he stayed at the Majestic too.

They have big plans for it. I hope they can pull it off. Didn't know about the hauntings. I only got one weird vibe while in there when I was way down one of the hallways by myself. I'm usually more concerned with running into a druggie squatter in these places though :)

in highschool we heard this place was haunted so we went one night, a security guard let us in, one of my friends said he felt a sudden cold chill lmao. I was more worried about crack heads more than ghosts. we went to a certain room where supposedly years ago somebody had jumped out of the window to end their own life. shame it burned down though.

I am saddened to see the state into which the owners have permitted this once great hotel to fall. It seems to me that owners should be required to maintain the overall structure at the very least, or pay penalties. A huge piece of Hot Springs history may be lost.

Such shame I had plenty of kin folk working there since it first opened in eighteenth hundreds my mom worked there and now it's falls in disrepair, I wish Hot springs would restore these old buildings instead of tearing them down. These buildings could be used as apartments for seniors. What really burned me is when that mad Buster Mooney close down his junk yard and he died right after that, because they took away the man's livelihood. Shame on our government crooks.
