How beautiful, my fear is that phones have taken away the value of pictures, pictures at one time we treasured and passed down through our families. Wonderful talk Rosario!
As someone who has never taken selfies or fun photos of myself to share I can honestly say there is a balance that is needed - enough for self expression and enough for the acquisition of positive memories
This is really true. I struggle with being comfortable taking selfies because of the thoughts I have towards people who are always doing it. But you're right, that balance is crucial, hope you can find it as well
You're truly on to something very strong here, visuals are changing the world and its time we took a selfie in front of the stuff we created. And unfortunately we don't like to look at anything that is wrong. Hence the beauty industry
As a mother of young children I have tried to educate them about images on social media and how easily they're manipulated to present a positive picture.
This made me reflect on my daily consume on images on social media and how I am getting hooked on empty, un emotional images everyday instead on being more present and attentive to more rich, deep, emotional images. Instead on develping an eye for the sublime, my eye is just trainned to watch everything quickly and not connect to it.
Gran tema !! Ojalá que llegue tu mensaje a los que tengan la pasión, la misión y la energía para contribuir a preservar nuestro hermoso planeta 🌍 💯felicidades👏🏻👏🏻
It's clear that the overwhelming amount of false images most people are bombarded with daily is extremely damaging to mental health. great talk, thank you!
She is right, we have lost the treasures of images from our life. We waste it on selfies and pictures of food aimed at making others jealous of our experiences.
I appreciate this perspective more than I can articulate but I can't help but think of all the people out there that just don't comprehend an image that way one would hope
I've never thought about it before watching this but yes, photography used to actually be important... especially photojournalism and exposing things that were happening in other parts of the world that you'd certainly never hear about otherwise, or even if you heard about it didn't quite understand without seeing an accompanying picture. Now we're so over saturated with the awful things happening everywhere it's like we're completely desensitized
I think in the past I've been really naive to how often pictures and videos are photoshopped/flat out staged, and once I learnt a bit about that I'm super critical to the point I can't even believe those like 'reaction' videos are even real
I wish that I could believe this but unfortunately the way that people perceive what they see these days always fits their own perception rather than allowing themselves to be confronted.
How do we know if the image we're looking at is real? There are many filters and apps to alter an image, some of them even work in real time. I feel like it's getting to a point where we can't even trust our own eyes

I have my grandmother's photo album, each picture is a treasure.
Oh Sue, thanks for sending me this, wonderful message!
Using images to confront the degradation in the oceans is a positive and powerful message thanks Rosario.
true
watched it, thanks for emailing me.

What she's talking about is actually really important, I wish more people would watch this and want to discuss it.
Some of the pictures in her talk are just AMAZING!!!

I love this, good link to send me
Astonishing photo of discarded soccer balls from the FIFA World Cup.
finally watched

the downside of social media, I understand, I feel the same way.
Photography is a universal and powerful language.
It's really interesting the points Rosario is making here. I'd never thought about the evolution of the image before and where it is heading

Todos Podemos hacerlo

brilliant
I can't say I've ever really thought about the way our over exposure to images affects us but she makes a lot of really good points...
She is right, we have lost the treasures of images from our life. We waste it on selfies and pictures of food aimed at making others jealous of our experiences.

I have noticed a huge step back towards using an image as a way of expression rather than using it as a "sale point".
An image speaks a thousand words.
Amazing TedTalk!!!
Geat TEDTalk!!! Bravoooo
We can all do something to preserve and help nature, stating now 🌱🌴🌳🌲

I don't know if I agree with Jeff Rosenheim but yes obviously the importance of the image has come a long way in the last century.
Gives us much to ponder.
lovin' is what i got, i said, remember that!... sublime talk 😁
amazing TED, thanks.
another TED talk hitting the mark.
Great....just great..toched my heart⚡🤙❤
Beautifully expressed..❤🌸
Loved it! Brava!
Great talk very well done. Inspired me
I've certainly never taken photos of avocado toast thank you very much.
I appreciate Rosario's desire to use images to educate and catalyze change but when those images can be doctored how do we trust what we see?
Great talk

Bombarded as we are with thousands of images a day, we're a bit shell shocked and desensitised.
Felicidades
The easy access to cameras that everyone now has definitely has ruined what photography should be.
It's a really good example of how sometimes ease of access doesn't help to improve the thing
Gideon Mendel potraits just stopped me, I had to stop this talk and look at them - wow - !
I wonder if the number she picked at the 3:25 mark was intentional?
The moment I saw that photo I got an ick feeling in my stomach.
I found the question at the 2:29 mark really poignant, I've never asked myself something like that when viewing a photo
I think a lot of people would change their minds on climate change if they saw more photos like the one she shows at the start of her speech
I wish that I could believe this but unfortunately the way that people perceive what they see these days always fits their own perception rather than allowing themselves to be confronted.
We will each bring our cultural bias to viewing an image. Even a picture of a banana can bring distress especially if you hate them.
Wow
How do we know if the image we're looking at is real? There are many filters and apps to alter an image, some of them even work in real time. I feel like it's getting to a point where we can't even trust our own eyes
I know there's some software that can detect photoshopped images. hopefully the same thing can continue to work for the new forms of image alteration
Today we are all have phones which makes us all photographers.
Как можно связаться с Росарией!! Мы ее дальние родственники из России
- Рассветаевы
3:33 - well none of them are static noise actually because they're images 😅
I agree that's what photo journalism SHOULD be but we're so over saturated with benign images that the ones with actual meaning are far less impactful
In my opinion the future of the image isn't looking good. It can be doctored to be anything you want it to be.
Can you believe the image you're seeing is real? You can photoshop a celebrity to be smiling beside you.
Has the ocean recovered from having 134,000,000 gallons of oil dumped into it?
I'll let you know if it does...not holding my breath
Interesting to think there's not a place on earth that can't be photographed by a satellite
I enjoyed this talk but was distracted by her outfit, just saying.
