You've got a unique, and authentic style of video making! Authentic like your torn shirt with a hole, and your worn boot soles coming unstitched ! Fun to watch a real person in his southwestern environment doing interesting reviews! I'm a fan.
I own two PKS knives and they both are awesome blades. I have the PLSK1 as my EDC main belt knife and the PKS Kephart as my back up pack knife.. Both in 1095 high carbon steel. They both have served me well in all aspects of use. The Pathfinder Knife Shop is definitely underrated. They have high quality blades for reasonable prices. I couldn't recommend them enough. Great video James. Thanks.
Kind of a neat old-school looking Knife. I’ve actually been curious about PKS knives, and I like the look of the new “Dirty by Design” stuff. As you mentioned, you don’t see much chatter on PKS knives. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and give us a demo 👍
Classic...enjoy the old time feel to the vids and the time and passion you put into these vids keep it up brother there's nothing like it out there takes me to place I would rather be!
I am happy to see a good review of a PKS knife. I have two of them and feel they are great knives. And IMO, the price is really good for the quality. The handles on the two models I have are very comfortable, with a natural wood feeling finish that is my favorite. PKS needs more attention and reviews from the bushcraft community.
If you like classic type knives try the green river knives, great quality for a very modest price. I have the camp knife model and it serves me well around camp and trails.
A well done (no pun) and well rounded review. It's very rare to see this in most knife reviews, particularly in the application of processing wild game. And having Cuervo Negro music is always a plus! Keep up the great work!
I think the original skinner, butcher pattern wld have been a sabre grind. But the scandi makes it more flexible. I wonder if rabbit pelt could make a hat or something. Cool video as always.
I did some work out in marfa and near the NM border. Thought the area had a familiar feeling. Glad pks picked up this design after Jeff White couldn't make it anymore.
Beautiful background landscape mate! Like the old school look of this knife, thank you for showing it, very nice video and once again what a place really.. south Texas?! wow!
I know this was four years ago but I certainly hope you check it out . It looks really close to the Old Hickory butcher knife that I've got now which is a newer one and the one I had that my mom had which that got misplaced somewhere so of course I had to get another. I would like for you to do a comparison between the two and Old Hickory butcher knife similar to what you just showed and the one you just showed and see which is better. I really would like to see that comparison, give it a shot will ya? Thanks
Damn i want one now. I’ve been getting into skinning knives. Currently have a buck 103 i’m after but i’ll def go for this beauty. Maybe one day she’ll get a buffalo too haha
Another great video. I enjoy every one. And I love that old blue shirt you always wear. It's seen better days, but man, it's been through some great adventures. Don't ever toss it out lol ;)
Yeah, I've noticed that there are almost no high-quality reviews of PKS stuff. Survival on Purpose is about the only one. Great video and review by the way. They've got a micarta version that I've been eyeballing for a while. A little too expensive to me though.
Very nice review as always. You have very good videos James, thank you for sharing. Next time i'm out that way maybe i can buy you a beer and burger. Stay happy and outside my friend !
Really like your knife review it very much reminds me of the old hickory butcher knife which appears that if patterns after. I do have a question do you ever camp or hike the Guadalupe national Park in Texas?
When it cools down you gotta do some over night videos. Not to many desert camping vids out there worth watching. I think you would make killer ones. Keep up the good work man!
I had bought 1095 blade from self-relianceoutfitters and when I used it on a piece of fat wood it was turned into a serrated knife. It's a good knife steel just not for hard use.
Glen Weebothee That sounds like a defective piece. PKS has a great warrantly (lifetime). They should fix or replace it if you call them. I bought a Jeff White knife from them with a similar problem and they replaced it right away.
What I've done a bunch review's on PKS knives. Lol but I'm a very small channel. As always love your content. Not many UA-camrs do skinning on video. If you're going to eat meat you should be able to take a life and know how to dress it. Glad to see you doing what you love and sharing it. Take care bud
Totally agree about sheaths. I hate loads of crap hanging off them. Weren't pockets & bags designed for carrying stuff not unweildly, snag point knife sheath 'systems'
Love the cooking videos! An easier way to skin rabbits is to just make a slit in the hide along the spine. After that put fingers from both hands into the slit, and just rip the hide off. If the rabbits are young enough, you probably wont have to make the slit. Rabbit meat is top notch stuff. Looks delicious!!🖒
I'm curious about it too, I've never tried rabbit, even turkey, but one time I tried smoked bear meat. It was edible enough, very chewy and had unusual smell.
Rabbit tastes like slightly stale turkey. Like after thanksgiving when you have leftovers and they’re still good though not as fresh or juicy as the day it was cooked lol
if you had one tool, what would it be and why? every day life and camping. just a thought. i feel this is the best way for your community to connect with you. and why they should.
Great review James! Question for ya, I thought you weren't suppose to food process with bluing on the blade? Or was that the heat treat left on? Thanks atb - Mike
YOU SHOULD DO A USE AND REVIEW ON THE GERBER ULTIMATE SURVIVAL KNIFE..HAVE ONE ..LOVE IT..COMES W SHARPENER ON BACK OF SHEATH AND A FLINT STRIKER ON FRONT SIDE..IT IS A PLASTIC SHEATH. AND UPPER BELT LOOP IS NYLON AND HAS A VERY GOOD SHARP BLADE W FLINT STRICKER ON THE TOP OF BLADE..
the knife was good though eventually I found it a bit think and clunky for a skinning knife, I prefer a thinner blade for that. also the handle being round move around my hand a lot.
Not my favorite design from pks but he makes some beautiful knives at a good price definitely wanna pick one up and like 50 other knives it’s usually what I remember when I have the cash.mever had rabbit but I’ve had squirrel deer moose wild boar and I actually thought my squirrel dinner was the best over rice tasted like dark chicken and rice yummy 😋.
When I die people are gonna think I’m crazy as they see my knife collection to bad I can’t take them with me ☹️very interesting knife I love knife reviews no fire steel loop your crazy but I do have a custom leather sheath for My falkniven A-1 with the pockets and a steel loop real thick leather I like it but it weighs as much as the knife so you can go overboard I had no idea the leather would be so thick or I would of gotten a sheath with less options but what can ya do great video 👍✌️.
Good video as usual young man. You ever find points or arrowheads out in your adventures out in the country? Will you get demonetized for showing the butchering of the rabbit? Heard other people are.
Folks aways start buttoning with the blade too far from the handle, then there isn't enough blade sticking out of the wood to baton! Get that handle up close to the wood so you got enough blade on the other side.
I wouldn't use olive oil, use coconut oil instead... less chance of getting rancid, had little to no smell, and works better on metal, wood, and leather than anything else I have ever used. That being said, 3-in-1 oil is the best stuff for coating blades if you dont care about food prep. ( ua-cam.com/video/O7ZThs1y8xs/v-deo.html )
thankyou rabbit, for being a part of a lesson, that we all hope to put to good use. amen.
You've got a unique, and authentic style of video making! Authentic like your torn shirt with a hole, and your worn boot soles coming unstitched ! Fun to watch a real person in his southwestern environment doing interesting reviews! I'm a fan.
Finally a review of the Buffalo skinner were someone actually uses it for skinning as well as survival. I actually just got one and love it
I like that design reminds me of my grandfathers butcher knife he used back in the day but upgraded for bushcraft
Thank you for showing so love Dave’s way... I’m sure he appreciates it
I own two PKS knives and they both are awesome blades. Thanks.
I do like that knife. Big enough to do almost anything. Thank you for the review, James. The rabbit looked great!
I would like to see more review on PKS knifes. Thanks for the reveiw.
Edward Michael they’re a bad ass knife and outdoors company with very good prices! You wont regret any investment in the products they offer!
This knife is one I've been thinking on buying, I appreciate the fact that you're almost the only one reviewing this buffalo nessmuk style knife. 👍
Classic...enjoy the old time feel to the vids and the time and passion you put into these vids keep it up brother there's nothing like it out there takes me to place I would rather be!
Good job demonstrating the capabilities of this knife, with a tasty result. Your video settings are awesome.
I am happy to see a good review of a PKS knife. I have two of them and feel they are great knives. And IMO, the price is really good for the quality.

I’ll get one soon. Thanks for watching!
Junkyard Fox thanks for the reply brother hope your doing well, and I know you will love that green river.
Good review...All the basic tasks covered...Shows the knife well...Well made video, thanks...I need this knife...
A well done (no pun) and well rounded review. It's very rare to see this in most knife reviews, particularly in the application of processing wild game. And having Cuervo Negro music is always a plus! Keep up the great work!
Great video James. You made dressing that rabbit look easy
Best knife review EVER
Complete with gourmet meal
Have yet to see or hear of one of Dave's knives breaking, I'd buy this one for hunting over here in pa.
Great video as always, James! Keeping you and yours in prayer still, and hoping all is well with everyone.
I think the original skinner, butcher pattern wld have been a sabre grind. But the scandi makes it more flexible. I wonder if rabbit pelt could make a hat or something. Cool video as always.
I would like this in a flat grind
Excellent video. I love the setting. Those are important survival skills.
I did some work out in marfa and near the NM border. Thought the area had a familiar feeling. Glad pks picked up this design after Jeff White couldn't make it anymore.
Beautiful background landscape mate! Like the old school look of this knife, thank you for showing it, very nice video and once again what a place really.. south Texas?! wow!
Nice video. I have this same knife and love it. Like you I wish the handle was a little beefier, but it is the classic "butcher style knife".
Thanks
i no longer own this knife, i traded it a few years back
Damn i want one now.
Lol I’m overdue for new clothes
I get that. Me, too lol.
The knife is cool but the view you have behind you is amazing. Great video.
It is gorgeous out here, huh?
@@JunkyardFox Very much so.
Finally , knife review!!
Great video
More camp cooking
Like always my friend, an excellent video and review. I myself am considering purchasing either a PKS Scorpion model or a PKS Kephart.
Really like your knife review it very much reminds me of the old hickory butcher knife which appears that if patterns after. I do have a question do you ever camp or hike the Guadalupe national Park in Texas?
No jackrabbit on the menu?? LoL!! Yet ANOTHER great video, Brother!!
When it cools down you gotta do some over night videos. Not to many desert camping vids out there worth watching. I think you would make killer ones. Keep up the good work man!
Always enjoy your videos and reviews!!!
I love the Outlook wish I could sell up and move there.
nice knife and the rabbit cooked over the fire looked some good
Thanks for the great video! Loved it!
I had bought 1095 blade from self-relianceoutfitters and when I used it on a piece of fat wood it was turned into a serrated knife. It's a good knife steel just not for hard use.
You should contact them. Blades have a lifetime warranty, sounds like a heat treat issue.
Glen Weebothee That sounds like a defective piece. PKS has a great warrantly (lifetime). They should fix or replace it if you call them. I bought a Jeff White knife from them with a similar problem and they replaced it right away.
Top notch review. Well done sir.
im glad you enjoyed it! be sure to check out our knife reviews playlist, best reviews on the internet!
Great video. Appreciate the butcher and cook!

I know you have but other than you and survival on purpose, there’s been no PKS coverage at all. Thanks for watching brother!
Great review, I like the knife and shape
Nice video! Almost to 50K Keep the material coming, good job bro.
Almost there!
new subscriber from West Texas (Big Spring). glad i found ur channel
Totally agree about sheaths. I hate loads of crap hanging off them. Weren't pockets & bags designed for carrying stuff not unweildly, snag point knife sheath 'systems'

I really appreciate the video, good informations! keep doing it! from Brazil
I like the music on your channel
After watching this, now i want to go play some red dead redemption
Excellent review.
I like seeing the meat prep, most of all. If you're interested in "different" knives, check out Grohmann from Canada(Represent!).
That rabbit is crying out... b...b...q... sauce! Hahaha! Great video James! Atb Sean
Any chance you could review the old hickory knife
Love the cooking videos! An easier way to skin rabbits is to just make a slit in the hide along the spine. After that put fingers from both hands into the slit, and just rip the hide off. ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS
Hi, another great informative video! An off topic question, what does rabbit taste like? It looks really good haha
+Cypress Hunter haha I assumed that was gonna be the answer. thanks though
I think rabbit tastes like Turkey, no kidding, and Squirrel does taste like Chicken.
+SuperIain13 rabbit is starting to sound so good to have for dinner right now haha
I'm curious about it too, I've never tried rabbit, even turkey, but one time I tried smoked bear meat. It was edible enough, very chewy and had unusual smell.

Great blade and bunny BBQ!
Great review James! Question for ya, I thought you weren't suppose to food process with bluing on the blade? Or was that the heat treat left on? Thanks atb - Mike

Man your video made me hungry now I have to use my knife to make peanut butter and jelly
amazing as usual , like and subscribed
Great video and review! I’m curious how you feel about this knife now after having it for some years?
the knife was good though eventually I found it a bit think and clunky for a skinning knife, I prefer a thinner blade for that. also the handle being round move around my hand a lot.
Thanks so much! I really wanted to like it but I may pass on this one.
Do you know the thickness of the blade?
good looking knife
Nice review good job.
Did you take that rabbit from the surrounding land?
I’m really diggin’ your channel man! Keep up the great work! - from a fellow Texan
Thank you very much!
Nice review... Nice lookin knife
But looked like it needed sharpening... Some of thoz knife swipes didn't seem like it cut too well on the wabbit.
I enjoyed your video. ThAnks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Can you do a bug out gear vid
Grilled rabbit, YUM
Love the video and the music; rabbit guts stink!
Great video
Thanks past it on
When I die people are gonna think I’m crazy as they see my knife collection to bad I can’t take them with me ☹️very interesting knife I love knife reviews no fire steel loop your crazy but I do have a custom leather sheath for My falkniven A-1 with the pockets and a steel loop real thick leather I like it but it weighs as much as the knife so you can go overboard I had no idea the leather would be so thick or I would of gotten a sheath with less options but what can ya do great video 👍✌️.
Good video as usual young man. You ever find points or arrowheads out in your adventures out in the country? Will you get demonetized for showing the butchering of the rabbit? Heard other people are.
So far it hasn’t gotten demonetized. I’ve actually never found an arrowhead out gete
Looks like a small crack is opening up on the handle up close to the blade.
That bunny was so cute..
Class act 👏
Liked the vid
Nice review!!!
I give you a like👍
Liquorice plant review
Folks aways start buttoning with the blade too far from the handle, then there isn't enough blade sticking out of the wood to baton! Get that handle up close to the wood so you got enough blade on the other side.
Now that was a good video, I could of watched that rabbit cook the whole 25 minutes.
👍👍👍👍
AMAZING THANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟❤️🖤💚🤎 FAMILY DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME BEAUTIFUL ✨ GREAT VIDEO,
Glad you enjoyed it
This was taken just after a knife fight and he won ...is the cut in his shirt . the other guy died and he used that knife to dismember him :(
suddenly i feel hungry...
Lol you missed out on a great lunch!
I wouldn't use olive oil, use coconut oil instead... less chance of getting rancid, had little to no smell, and works better on metal, wood, and leather than anything else I have ever used.

Interesting. Thanks for the advice!

Soft wood you say ? Lol
