A man with brass cojones, quite an adventure, I have to hand it to you. I have a 2022 Colo and the radio went out with 360 miles on it. Waiting for the new unit now. Dealer will be doing mine I'm thankful.... Good Luck great video and helpful to me Thanks So Much
Thanks for posting. I'm interested in how this comes apart because I'm thinking of installing a ham radio in my truck. Looking for a good way to wire/mount the remote head for the radio, which will be under a seat.
Im thinking about tapping into the existing rear camera plug with a switch and installing a front camera. Then when im rock crawling toggle back and forth to the front camera when needed.
Yeah I watched this whole video just to see how to get the center console apart the little USB port cover thing fell down the little hole I wanted to retrieve it!! Also the wireless charging is ridiculous unless you have a very small phone I have the same your truck
Curious if you ever found a solution for running USB's to the console. Did you cut and extend the ones forward of the shifter?
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your support.
Or alternatively I have tried plugging in a usb hub to the front usb and it does work. So take the blank plate from your bucket and attach a usb female to male extension chord run the cord to the bucket. Install the usb bank into the bucket and connect to the usb mini male with a dab of epoxy to keep the connection in place, take the oem usb harness plug and attach the female end to that. And put the blanking plate where the usb bank was. You’ll lose the 3.5 mm aux jack but you should be able to de-chord your truck... or at least contain your chords to the bucket. I grabbed a new bucket and with a heat gun and a wood blank of my phone stretched it so the phone can wirelessly charge, I then keep a carlinkit plugged into the relocated bucket USB’s for wireless CarPlay (if you want Android auto wireless there is a dongle for that too).
Got a quick question for you, first of all, great video, thank you. I need to replace one of my dash speakers, any way you can do a video on accessing those to replace them?
This is great
Do you think you could disconnect the phone charger because no phones fit on it anyway., And use that wire to hook up your USB
You can unhook the charger but your only going to be able to use it as a power source for whatever you rig up to it.
@hightechcheck Is the bezel around the shifter the same clips that pop out like the radio bezel? im going to wrap both and just curious?
I believe so? It’s been awhile since I’ve taken this apart.
Im removing my console with the wireless charger I never use with the replacement part that has a deeper pocket in it's place. How do you remove the part that surrounds the shifter and cup holders? Its already off by the start of the video
It just pops up
Halo sir.. what hppen to touch screen colorado was not work.. i had try to touch it but it was not work.. is that was problem from the wire..?
Is the big metal thing behind the head unit the trucks body control module (bcm)?
No that’s the HMI (Human interface Module) fancy term for your car stereo’s brain.
Great Video!
Thank you!
Thanks for this now I can just add usb to mine from there just for charging
That's not a wrench, bud!
