Your short, talkative videos are perfect for the few minutes of downtime I have as a mom! Thank you!

Love so many of these recommendations! Anchored by Deb Dana has helped me so much during pregnancy and as a parent! It’s not a parenting book, but it’s all about learning to regulate our own nervous systems, which has been so helpful when I’m with a crying baby or tantrumming toddler. It talks about how babies are born with nervous systems but don’t know how to regulate them, so they look to their parents to figure out how to navigate them. So it’s really such a gift to know more about how to go to a more settled place when I start to feel anxious or like I’m going to shut down. I’m also a therapist and recommend this to a lot of clients, and people tend to really like it

I also didnt consider myself a bookworm until having kids. I started taking my oldest to storytime at the library at 6 months old and thats what got me into reading.
I definitely recommend “Being There” by Erica Komisar for anyone discerning motherhood. I liked Hunt Gather Parent for toddlerhood. Nurture Revolution is on my TBR list for sure!

Such a helpful list! Thank you. Have heard your recko some before but love the new additions - also mad love the nurture revolution, it has given me so much peace that following my instincts is heftily backed by neuroscience (!!!) and that we need more nurturing, not less. Keeps me sane when life is hard with a little one. Thanks so much for the video!

My favorite book that I read during pregnancy is “Pregnancy Childbirth and the Newborn” by Penny Simkin and others :) it’s like a textbook all about birth, I learned so much about my body and also felt really informed about the decisions I made when it came to birth, because I fully understood the interventions, etc. I also LOVED Hunt Gather Parent.

Love this, this video came at the perfect time. I recently read taking charge of your fertility and have listened to Hunt Gather Parent as recommendations from some of your older videos and really enjoyed both ❤ thanks for the recommendations xx

Love this list! I have read several, but you mentioned some I've never heard of before that sound interesting. Are there any you would recommend reading "with your husband" also? (Maybe not at the same time, but ones that generate good discussion between spouses?)

I listened to “Ina May’s guide to breastfeeding” recently and she also had a bit in talking about labouring and labour, so I’m excited to read her guide to childbirth. Good to hear you really loved it!

Expecting Better and Crib Sheet are both top tier for me. She is an economist and uses that perspective to sort through all the data on pregnancy and early childhood development. She gives you all the info and then encourages you to make your own decisions. Super empowering reads

I really enjoy your videos! I found your channel a few months ago and now I’m 14 weeks along with our first! 💛
I really enjoyed How To Talk Ao Little Kids Will Listen and Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth. Super helpful!

My #1 birth prep title ( and I read and loved several), if you only have time for one, is Your Baby, Your Birth by Hollie de Cruz.
Little Miss, Big Sis by Amy Krause Rosenthal is the sweetest picture book for a new/soon to be big sister. My girls still love reading it together!
PS, I have read some of my favorites as a direct result of you mentioning them, thank you!
    Also, I think it's pronounced Ahk-toong 😉

I love listening to audio books on parenting ! Thanks for the list; I’d add French Kids Eat Everything, definitely influenced my approach towards food education for my little. And The Whole Brained Child- I’m surprised this wasn’t on your list!

The child influencers! A book about why you need to be the biggest influence in your child's life. Is kind of also about homeschooling.

I found Hunt, Gather, Parent to be really othering of the indigenous cultures she visited. I don't think as a person from a dominant culture I could cherry pick something from another culture and make it work, because that's not teaching my children to function in the society THEY live in, which is how those practices are successful in the observed cultures: the rest of the community is involved too.

You mentioned following the "First 40 Days" recommendations with your 2nd child, but didn't say you did it with your 3rd. Did you notice a difference with postpartum of baby #2 and baby #3 with not following it? Was it too much to keep with with baby #3?

Omg how could I forget this book?!!!!
I tried, but didn’t do it as closely, it did make a difference

You did mention it! (4:33) but said you did it with baby #2 so I thought, ah maybe it wasn't too impactful so she skipped it with baby #3. Thanks for the reply!

Until the street lights come on- great for feeling like you're doing the right thing with less technology but more outside time for your family
