I bought a used Jazzy Select that looked to be in great condition. I bought two new batteries and was excited to take this baby for a spin. Turned on the joystick and it was flashing the dreaded 8 flash signal. I found Frank's video on UA-cam and contacted him. I sent the joystick and module to Frank. Bad module. I got the parts back today and put my ride back together. All is good! Thank you Frank for great service!
I'm giving the like, for yall having made this video at all, sharing what you know, and contributing to what seems like very little info all around. Thank you.
Thanks for the tip. 7 flashers on mine is the wire on joystick. I blame the swing away f o r my problem. The wires are showing because the grommet is torn. Shuvibg the wires back in worked for now.
If you are out of pocket and do not have to go through insurance, give me a call. If your problem is in the electronics, we can diagnose and repair through the mail. Usually 1 day turn around time. Frank 352 999 4477
I have a 3 wire joystick Jazzy Elite. It worked before putting it in storage. After 1 1/2 years of course the batteries were dead. I unplugged the batteries and did a 2amp slow charge to bring them back. Once they had full voltage, I plugged them back in. The membrane was junk, so I used a metal piece to turn it on. It beeped and flashes code 8. What's frustrating is I was donating it to a young man who just had a leg amputated. The charger right now shows empty on the light even though I charged them separately for 10 hours low amp. Can batteries cause this?. I'm waiting to see if the original charger will charge them like it's supposed to. Like I said, it worked fine before going into storage
Mike, what you have described is a common occurrence. It is caused by the batteries going dead in the machine with the electronics still hooked up. Normally we charge $189 to repair that problem, as you were going to give it away, we would charge $159. We will require the joystick and the module to make the repair. It is a business days turn around. Frank 1800 717 1252 Ship to; IMP 6672 w grover cleveland blvd. homosassa fl. 34446
Have a pride jet ultra counting up from left to right and then goes out then repeats. I've seen some unlock videos but there is no beeping on power up or holding joy stick
Hi Frank. We have a practically new Jazzy 6 Select Ultra that has been garaged keep for 10+ years. Was our fathers when he visited. We have tried to charge it but the joy stick blinks every single light on the joy stick from left to right...one at a time. We dont know if the batteries have just died over the years and should start there. Cant find anything in the manual about all the lights blinking while charging. Any ideas?? Thank you!
The lights are supposed to blink like that when it is charging. Also, you will find it will not operate when it is charging. Sitting that long, the batteries are dust. If you are having more or other problems, give me a call. Happy to help. Frank 1800 717 1252
I have the 600hd. I was getting the 9 flashes. Replace the joystick, control module. Seems to work fine now until I try to go into Walmart. Every time I go into Walmart the chair goes along and stops. The nine light flash. I turn it off and restart. It will go along a few feet and stop with the nine wrench flashes. It restart a few feet and stops continuesly. Outside of Walmart and all works fine. What can it be?
Joe, You may have the first example of EMI/RFI that I have encountered. In short this interference is caused by either radio or micro waves. Walmart of all places would be a good probability. In the spirit of science, you might could try covering your control module (temporarily) loosely with tin foil. It may make a difference- Check this out... So my mother's chair has 8 flashes and I can hear it clicking to try and engage the wheels. Is this the controller or something else since I can hear the wheels clicking? It flashes 8 times. I have checked the breaks since she was stuck in the kitchen and I had to push per in the chair into the living room and then re-engaged them, still clicking then flashing 8 times. Now on a side note she did get stuck on a cat food bowl a few weeks ago and was going in circles for a minute or so, not sure if this has anything to do with it.
8 flashes is generally a bad controller which we can repair in a day. However, a 9 flash is the brakes (or 1 brake) so check the flashes again let them run for a couple of cycles to make certain that you are indeed getting an 8 flash. If it is indeed 8, our particulars are above or at www.JoystickRepair.com, Send the joystick and the module and we will repair the problem for $189. Thanks, Frank 352 999 4477
I bought a used Jazzy Elite ES and it worked great for several months but then my dog chewed the cable between the joystick and battery connection cable severing only the white ground wire, the other two wires are still intact. The joystick still powers on but it flashes 7 times, the joystick error. I tried splicing the white wire back together with a wire nut but that didn't fix the joystick error. I tried various reset codes suggested online but nothing has fixed it. Is there an inexpensive way I can fix it? I don't exactly have the means to take it to a repair shop and I only paid $200 for the chair to begin with.
Hello Mr, I have a problem with the DC motor when I connect it with the controller (mother boarld) is not working. But when I connect the same mother with the battery is working. Is there any problem in the flash code?
The motor has to have the electric brake still attached and engaged. Otherwise the computer reads it as a fault (not having a brake) and will not work. Frank 352 999 4477
Uh, ok so I'm getting several flashes which I guess means control or joystick. I can send them to you, when do I pay? And whats the chances my motor works after I get this done. And after this I'm still gonna have to buy batteries.
7 or 8 flashes indicates an electronics problem. If this is what you are getting, then chances are very good that the unit will function as it should when put back together. You pay at the time of repair. We call you, and get a card number over the phone, then ship them back USPS priority. It takes 1-2 business days for repair.
5 flashes indicates a brake fault. I would check the mechanics of both freewheel levers, and or unplug then replug the motor plugs in all plug areas. If that does not do it, check the microswitches attached to each brake at the motor. One may be not working as it should. Frank 1800 717 1252
through the levers on each side of the wheelchair. (Usually yellow handle) engage these on each side so the drive wheel is locked and cannot roll when you push the machine.
