Nope, they are cute little rodents that live in the desert and just pop up out of their holes and zip back in. She grew up in WY and it’s prairie-dog-central there. She thought it was hysterical that I’d never seen one
I always love your videos...just have to share: I live in Arizona now, as I'm retired", but I grew up in a small southern Kansas town, in the country....we use to catch the "fire flies" - "lightnening bugs", as we new them and put them in a jar (with little air holes) and watch them light up our rooms.....then we would turn them loose again.....it was so special to sit out side on a nice summer eve and watch these lovely little creatures from God :)
They do light up. As kids we used to catch them, put them in a jar and use it for a night light! They are still all over our yard every night during the summer.
Love your cards!!! Where I live in southern QC, we have a "fairy light show" every night during the early months of summer. It is best seen near a pond, marsh, or in tall grasses, edge of the woods. When we were kids, we would catch quite a few in a jar for our "flashlight". After 15 minutes we would set them free. It is a "show" I am never tired of seeing 🥰
Lots of fireflies in Ontario. I was in the pool the other night and the fireflies were everywhere, it was so magical!! I love the alternative cards you made, so sweet!!
Never in my lifetime have I laid eyes on these fire flies, an armadillo or a wild cactus. Weird huh. I have seen Moose, Caribou, and bears in the wild. Even a cougar too. I had a ladybug in my house the other day. You know, just hangin out with me and the fuzz butts.
You came up with some stunning alternatives today but that last one you knocked out of the park! I wasn’t sure what to do with the lanterns! Thanks for sharing 💕
Must be a southern thing! I need to research about fireflies. But in a field at night with dew on the grass the flood of fireflies are so amazing. I used to as a child capture a jar full, with holes poked in the metal lid and have them in my bedroom as a nightlight. Let them go the next morning. It was magical! But these cards bring back memories.
I love your alternatives. They are always so much fun! I live in Ohio oon the shores of Lake Erie. I never knew other places didn't have them. It's childhood summertime fun to catch "lightening bugs," as they are called here. Always released before we went inside for bed.
I’m pretty sure I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again...you seriously have the best paper pumpkin alternatives! Btw I’m in Nova Scotia and we have fireflies, you probably have them in BC too. Look at a cluster of trees at night and you can see them ❤️
Great cards, ty. I live in BC(Okanagan) but was born in Ontario. We had fireflies in ‘cottage country’ when I was growing up. I haven’t seen any fire flies in BC but apparently we do have some.
WOWEE, Susanne! SUCH COOL ALTERNATIVES! I LOVE EACH OF THEM! So happy you shared a “SLIMLINE DESIGN”!! So, so trendy and such fun with this Paper Pumpkin Kit! And what a NEAT IDEA to used the Shimmery Crystal Effects on the Lanterns! :-) (YEP it IS still available in the new catalog, too!) GREAT directions on creating the cards which I SO APPRECIATE! TFS n’ HAPPY STAMPIN’ n’ CREATIN’! Have a SPARKLY day! Sending SMILES from Madison, WI! :-)
We had tons of fireflies when i was a kid 60 yrs ago and we would chase them all the time but you don't see them these days. I live in AL so if could be a Southern thing.
Gorgeous cards Susanne. I love the kit and the add ons. Your video on it is the only one I watched since we can't get PP and I stopped watching the videos on it. I still wanted to see your cards because you always come up with such nice cards and you think outside the box. You are so my kind of person, feeling sorry for the paper fireflies. I pick up snails and frogs when the wander on the road and if there is an animal in need I try to help it.
I always look forward to your take on the Paper Pumpkin kits, you have some of the best ideas! Also, the Shimmery Crystal Effects did carry over to the new catalog on page 147. Such a fantastic idea putting that on the lanterns, you're a genius!
I'm from Ohio and I used to love catching fireflies when I was a little girl - I still feel a moment of magic when I see the first one of the summer! Love your alternatives. (By the way, I always released my fireflies).
Hello from Canada! No fire flies that I know of in AB and I have never seen one either! Love your slimline card!!! Made my first one last week and I may be hooked!! Thanks for all the alternative ideas!!! Blessings!
I LOVE your alternatives! Thank you!! Just an fyi - lightening bugs are typically in the midwest of the US (I lived in Iowa and they are everywhere in the summer at night and so mesmerizing - I love them!) Not like a "typical" bug :)
Greetings from SW Florida 🌸🌴🦋 ... I love your alternatives for this month’s PP! They are great! And I, too, enjoyed listening to your commentary😉 Thanks so much!
I really enjoyed your video. All the alternatives are awesome. Sue you are so funny I wish you were my up line, thanks from Kingston ON. P.S. I’ve never seen a firefly either lol.
Great alternatives, as always! I live in Missouri, U.S., and fireflies were pretty thick in June. We always liked catching them, but released them the same night. Btw, is YT inserting more and more ads now? I saw 4 or 5 in this video.
I don't know about the ad insertion. I think the longer the video the more they pop in. I am sorry :( I wish I could produce these videos without ads. Simply, I can't. I work too hard with very little pay so I have to monetize here. I wish there was another way.
They are not every where, i grew up in Ohio, USA and they are there eastern part of USA, have never seen them in Montana. yes their bottom part does light up. We called them lighting bugs or fire flys.
So fun! Bless your softheartedness toward those little fireflies. 💕
Always!
Spectacular! My mother in law had never seen a lightening bug and I’d never seen a prairie dog. It was fun to show each other!
Oh wow! I am thinking prairie dog is the same thing as a gopher or ground hog? I have seen both of them.
Nope, they are cute little rodents that live in the desert and just pop up out of their holes and zip back in. She grew up in WY and it’s prairie-dog-central there. She thought it was hysterical that I’d never seen one

Aw thanks Diana. I am glad you let them go too!
Looooove your commentary about free animals and how you had to rethink your capture fireflies! I’m with you!
Obviously I am a true hippie! lol
Great job! I see fireflies every night in my backyard!
Oh wow!

Love your Paper Pumpkin alternatives.. your cards turn out great! Love them all. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us!
You are so welcome!
I live in Texas and we called them lightning bugs as kids. I have not seen one in forever but they are cool!
So cute I caught fire flies when I was little we watched them light up in the jar but then had to let them go, Mom thought they should be free too!
I agree with Mom. She always knew best.
You came up with some stunning alternatives today but that last one you knocked out of the park! I wasn’t sure what to do with the lanterns! Thanks for sharing 💕

We don't have armadillos, cactus, or palm trees here either. Which I am thoroughly disgusted about. Apparently all three cannot survive our weather.

Come to Michigan. My backyard has hundreds of fireflies. They are slow moving and they appear to be floating instead of flying. 😁
I am coming right over Michelle.
I'm from Ohio and I used to love catching fireflies when I was a little girl - I still feel a moment of magic when I see the first one of the summer! Love your alternatives. (By the way, I always released my fireflies).

You do work hard and I so appreciate you! I can skip the ads; they're just annoying when trying to enjoy an awesome crafter do her thing. 🥰
We poke holes in the top of the jar and then release
I am glad you release them. Lol .
They are not every where, i grew up in Ohio, USA and they are there eastern part of USA, have never seen them in Montana. yes their bottom part does light up. We called them lighting bugs or fire flys.
Well that is cool. Who knew?
I didn’t see a firefly till I was 69
Well, I think I still have time then. lol
