G'day Mate, when panning you have to get the gravel from the bedrock. Gold being the heavy material it is will naturally be at the bottom under the dirt etc. Through river flow and rain etc it will move the heavy stuff to the bottom unless there is tree roots or moss etc to catch it. Get the overburden, gravel etc off and pan the gravel, sand etc from the cracks. THATS where the good stuff is! Cheers and G'day from Tasmania. Thanks for the entertainment and have a great holiday.
Hi Bjarne, as to prospecting, i would use a small gardening trowel and dig the dirt from around the tree roots, on the track you used to get too the water. Also i would scrape the moss off the nearby rocks and wire brush it clean into your pan. I also gave up on the wide mouth shovel and went over to a narrow trenching shovel here in new zealand. I found it allowed better digging around rocks. Just some suggestions. thanks for all the great vids.
You make me miss SE Alaska… but out government is more corrupt than yours so Logging in Alaska like I remember is gone! Thank you for the reminiscence! Be safe and stay dry.
A friend of mine once worked for three prospective silver miners. He was given the choice, a share of whatever they found or cash for each day worked. He chose the wage. After nearly three years of finding nothing, they gave up and sold the land. Paid by the day, my friend was the only one who made any money. He then worked for a few months for he new land owners, striping out all the rails, drams and props, to be sold as scrap metal.
Whatever happened to the place you built the setup to move buckets of material from up on the side of the hill, either across a ravine, or down to your truck or something like that? It's been a good time since I remember you made that video, and memory isn't what it once was. Seems like it was around the time you, and some friends were using a pump to run water down a portable sluice if thats the right spelling for the name of the device. Y'all had used a boat to go down a river to check the area there. Like I say, it's been a number of years ago that you uploaded any of your gold hunting adventures that I remember seeing. Hope you find something, but if not it's definitely better than sitting around camp bored day dreaming about doing something interesting. Don't be feeding no bears, are trying to pet a moose or something like that. Leave that for the citified tourist to do, so they can have all that kinda fun. Stay safe n be well
Hiya buddy. Not sure if anyone has mentioned that you're using some unknown word by the name of 'day' in relation to sunshine during a 24 hour period or your working time during said 24 hour period. Going forward and to avoid confusion can you refer to the correct spelling of the word, which is 'Dee'. Like have a nice dee, what a beautiful dee, happy birthdee, etc.
Good to see you posting videos again! Hope you enjoyed your time off,but glad you’re back at it!
Cheers from the east Kootenays!

Thats what we need here in europe, water
Are you my long lost twin?! Middle aged timber faller/gold miner from Oregon coast here! Should be a lot of gold around up there
A pocket sluice would be nice there. Good luck.
As always awesome content thanks for your time to do this video big fan of your channel and love it
Be cool to have a small high banker or sluice to run a bunch of material in short time
Metal detector will tell a lot , can’t be bothered panning unless you get a signal
@@cameronhamer9432 metal detector wont even get a signal on small fines good for nuggets only
