    Do me a HUGE solid and like and comment on the video if you guys want to continue seeing this build series, it helps the channel out a ton!
    This is only the start. We've opened up a can of worms by drilling into the front bumper, but trust me, there's more invasive procedures going down! Purpose built!

    Hello and good morning from Italy Jeff. I am “still” trying to get an “R” splitter for my GT350. That being said I am curious if I “need” to add the additional splitter that you added to the R splitter. Though I’ll definitely do some track time I’ll not be nearly as track oriented as you are and I know the additional front splitter would require a more aggressive rear wing. That being said I am definitely interested in the racing canards you mounted in the video. Since you’re “track oriented” and have done your research I am curious if installing the canards would be counter productive or work just fine. Thank you in advance for your reply.
    Greg

    • @JeffAshton
      @JeffAshton 4 роки тому +4

      You don’t need to add the front splitter if you don’t want to, the car is already really good on track the way it is set up. If you’re heavily track focused and plan to go full aero then it’s a no brainer. The canards will still be functional without the use of the front splitter so you can definitely still add them.

      @@MioGT350 Not so easy getting an R splitter. I'm from Australia, and I had to jump on a proxy server to purchase from U.S based ebay. There's a few selling on ebay so not too hard finding one. From there, ship it domestically to a freight forwarder who will then repackage (if need be) then sent to you. Not cheap though.. I paid 900USD on top of the splitter.
      But worth it, since I'm probably the only one with an R splitter in the country! ARCHE TYPE racing sends their products overseas quick, great service!

    Question. I’m curious with all of this aftermarket aero, are you concerned about potential oil starvation with all of the increased lateral G forces at the track ? Voodoo motor has no dry sump system, and I believe oil pump and pan system maxed out from factory in GT350R configuration. Ford performance upgraded the oil system in 2020 GT500 for the increased lateral G forces compared to GT 350/GT350R.

    Honestly I wish you the best of luck with that front end set up. However, I have seen the factory valence on guys GT350R's get ripped off at the track multiple times. Heck, I have even seen guys take them off prior to tracking. This was at NJMP and I know every track is different. I think they had factory suspension that gave under apex braking. Possibly with a stiffer (more track focused) suspension this would resolve the matter. Good luck!

      @EIGHTLUG 4 роки тому

      @@JerryCecco The canards were developed using Practical Aerodynamic Design principles. Canards are not widely viewed as great downforce generating devices. They are more used to direct air, create a vortex, or to create a low pressure region. More airflow influencers, than anything. The angle of incidence in relation to the chord line for these canards makes them rather aggressive. Any more surface area or AoA along the upper portion and they would be producing more drag than anything. The only real way to achieve more is to add a secondary pair of canards above these and further add to the low pressure zone along the longitudinal portion of the car. Some of the added aero benefits of this design is the added airflow into the heat exchangers, winglets to mitigate roll off and to bolster the channel of high pressure air toward the top of the wheel. By and large, the price of canards does not constitute its own specific wind tunnel testing, unless you are a fan of $2,000.00 canards or you are building them for a pro race team or spec series and can better amortize the R&D cost.

    Definitely keep the stripes. The splitter and the canards just look stupid in my opinion. Unless you're attempting some sort of land speed record I don't see the point in these. You're never going to be getting the sort of speeds on track that warrants ruining a car like that with those parts. Just my opinion. It's your car and if you like it that's all that matters.

    • @JeffAshton
      @JeffAshton 4 роки тому +3

      I’m sorry, but your completely wrong. I guess myself and Ford Performance are both ruining GT350s. So you’re telling me the FP350S and GT4 Mustang have no use for splitters/canards on track, unless going for a land speed record?

    • @EIGHTLUG
      @EIGHTLUG 4 роки тому +1

      At the speeds that a GT350 circulates a track, the front splitter and angle of attack of the canards do come heavily into play. The front splitter creates front downforce, linearly, as speed increases. The canards further manipulate the airflow around and over the front wheels, causing a low pressure zone that assists in the egress of hot high pressure air in the wheel well, by drawing it through the wheel and into the low pressure zone created by the canard. It's actually the opposite on a land speed car. The front splitter and canards will be well beyond their operating envelope as the car nears and surpasses 380 MPH. Fluid dynamics will show that the airflow would have completely detached from both aero surfaces and would be causing immense amounts of drag and turbulent air. On a land speed racer, all of the airflow management is accomplished, primarily, with the shape of the air frame.
