I think I have learned more about film making from watching this and your two NF videos than I have ever known before. Your reactions are outstanding! I would love to see videos of you reacting to some of the great Hollywood movies of past and present
The OG, the one and only, the video that started a generation of travel filmmakers, speedramp addicts and transition addicts. I watched this video for the first time on Vimeo like in 2014? but still gives me goosebumps and still a masterpiece.
I read an interview about this film with the artist. It's amazing how he talks you through his editing process. I read that he used 1 camera with 2 lenses and a GoPro. That in itself amazed me... showing me I could do more with less. I think it would be cool to do a follow up review of "the watchtower of china" by the same artist. Apparently he brought a film crew with him to create his video from China. Also its awesome to see someone else be emotional through this video... I experienced the same.
I HAVE to comment on this...I watched your other videos and I LOVE THEM so I thought I would watch the only one I hadn't seen....it gave me chills for what the video was. Let me explain...I actually died 5 yrs ago from a brain aneurysm (obviously I was sent back..I say SENT back and not BROUGHT back for reasons I'm not gonna go into right now) anyways, while I was dead and was being sent back I got all these flashes of life...not my life but ALL life, insects, waterfalls, volcanoes, trees swaying in the breeze, and people...people laughing with pure joy is what really stood out. This video I just watched is so reminiscent of what I experimented and it literally gave me chills. I broke out in a sweat seeing this as it is so close to what I saw while being...dead. The fast transitions from one "shot" to the other is what triggered my memory. DAMN...I had no idea I would be hit with this.
Amazing to see your channel come out of nowhere Jonathan! It warmed my heart to see the first reaction was a Leonardo vid. He somehow set an even higher standard with the Watchtower of China. 25,000 clips and 9 months of shooting, it almost makes Turkey look like a beginner made it.
man i was amazed by that artwork at first then when i saw the pts you talked about i can understand why someone can cry while seeing a master piece like that
Apashe... enjoy... you're welcome. Your selection of music is excellent by the way. I just flew through every video sir. Bravo. Thank you for your passion for the medium of film.
lol in hindsight apashe vids might not be brilliant film making so disregard... but watch and enjoy ; ) keep up the good work. You're a genuine article
I hadn't seen this before, and it was incredible. Thanks for the introduction. On another note, can you put "Up & Up" by Coldplay on your shortlist? I am fascinated by the post prod magic in that video and would love to hear a filmmaker's take and insights on it.
I have binge watched most if not all of your videos tonight. I have learned so much from these videos that it is unfortunate that most of it doesn't apply to what I do but man I love learning it!
Great reaction and breakdown of this tremendous short film. As I understand it, the filmmaker used no stabilization while shooting this incredible piece.
Music & Video is a nice portrait of ourselves, As we Feel & See life naturally as it is, its always a nice feeling when we find the correct blend / balance.
7:46 It's Atatürk's voice, our national leader 😊 That's an amazing video 🌸
