Thank you Larry for teaching me this new squat technique as I always avoided squats due to getting pains (knees + back) when getting stronger at it. I grew my quads to 78cm circumference ( instagram.com/p/CJG79yGlyOU/?igsh ) with hacksquat, lunges, legpress and leg extensions so far, but I will definitely continue this squat version in the Netherlands!
This was my 4th and last video with Larry and really enjoyed it. Thank you to Larrys hospitality! I'm going back to Holland tomorrow. For those who would like to follow by progress and road to Hollywood (Marvel Black Widow, The King's Man) --->

Olivier is not weak, his range of motion is just absurd 😳
Everybody says that range of motion is what makes lifting harder for taller ppl when it's actually the lever they have to fight that makes a huge difference. The range of motion only add time under tension wheras the leverage he has to fight make the weight feels litterally heavier (like doing latteral raise with straight arms vs bending elbow for exemple)

I’m 6.5” and I think tall people mostly like to use that type of stuff as an excuse. I have never felt at a disadvantage during any movement. Obviously I don’t know what it’s like to be 7 foot + though haha

I mean Olivier weighs 350 plus pounds, his upper body is probably 200+ of it and his ROM is insane, no need to be ashamed with strength. Some builds are just meant to push weight better than others.
Being taller means you can get even bigger. Its about filling Out your frame. Hafthor and Dylan Hellriegel are good examples. Got a friend to squat Like a Chinese weightlifter and hes 190cm/70kg with Long legs.
@@ottowelt4378 sure but homie is over 7 feet tall, there comes a point where it works against you and it’s hard to find leverages, even halfthor rarely squats and if he does he sticks with SSB’s. If Olivier were to fill out his frame he’d be over 400-450. Honestly if I were 7 foot 2 I’d be more concerned with knee issues when I’m older as that’s a common thing for individuals that tall.
Both of them are so down to earth, you can tell just how they act.

It amazes me how super experienced people like Oliver don't know the difference between low bar and high bar squats.
I've only started doing powerlifting style workouts for a couple months and that was one of the first things I learned along with proper bench, overhead press and deadlift form
Hey man that's great. Keep it up, powerlifting is a tremendous sport and it's athletes have unlimited potential. There are some great programs out there also.
@@thecadincolehour6502 I follow a greyskull linear progression program I'm at 95kg dead, 40kg overhead, 80kg squat and 55kg bench 👌 at 72kg bodyweight

The lever length at that height makes the squat so difficult. going for an even wider squat stance might help by changing the center mass.

Finally squat videooo larryyyy
Wide grip for squads works the upper leg parts (close to groins, glutes...), and makes more tension in the lower back. On the other hand closer grip, removes lower back tension, and works lower leg parts (closer to knees). Thats the reason why Larrys legs are big in the upper part and small close to the knees. I had the same problem has him, but today since I started using closer grip, making more tension in my hands instead of my lower back, my legs lower part is much bigger now.

You know, I'm very impressed that Olivier doesn't worry about trying to keep up with Larry (obviously he wouldn't be able to even if he wanted). He doesn't start using dangerous weights but is more focused on learning proper form and pushing himself as far as he can safely do. I train all by myself and I get embarressed by how weak I am, imagine training next to Larry just casually squatting like 5 plates for a bunch of reps... No ego lifting here!

Thanks for this vid imma try this technique next squat session I do, I'm only 15 and my squat has always been a let down compare to my deadlift, I finnaly hit a 90kg for 4 reps but compare to my best deadlift which is 140kg for 1 I wanna improve so hopefully I see my numbers start increasing after this
