Have you tried 91% rubbing alcohol sharpie markers are alcohol based it may not work as fast but maybe easier on you hands don’t need to snark thread on dry skin alcohol will remove marker off of most smooth surfaces if you don’t wait too long

so you kinda just dyed it? you could get light colors from others too Id guess - blue red etc

Corrections
Acetone is very toxic on your skin...also bad for breathing it. Alcohol might be a safer and good alternative to acetone.
