+orchidsbloom my current one was made in Sydney, Australia, in the 1930's. I'd recommend going for an older instrument. Look for "tiger stripes" on the side and back panels. The build quality goes (from best to worst): Italian/Austrian, French, American, Croatian/Slovakian, Korean, Chinese. Most good cellos are around $400-500. Good luck! Let me know how you go :)

+Tay Alers $400- $500??!!! Where do you you live??!! A pretty good cello for intermediate players is usually from $1500 - $2500.
