Baylan is already a favorite of mine. And I do think he will turn to the light as well. And yes, I hope that his sacrifice will make Shin stay good and she will become a main character with the crew. What if Shin Hati gets consumed by her vision of endless power and turns on her father while he tries to protect Ahsoka/Ezra and then Hati becomes Thrawns new pawn.
The really cool part of this theory that Baylan may turn back to the Light & see himself as a Jedi again is the fact that in his very first scene he made sure to tell everyone that he was no Jedi. Maybe at the end of the season he calls himself a Jedi again, coming full circle. Since that line of "We are NO Jedi" was so powerful it feels it was there for more than just the obvious explanation then & there.
It’s just super sad that Ray isn’t alive to see and experience all the love people are starting to have for his character he plays in the show, it’s quite unfortunate man, RIP to Mr Stevenson, Baylan as a character is really growing on me and becoming one of my favourites in Star Wars, we don’t know much about him so it’s super interesting to watch his character progress.
Ahsoka so far just feels like a Star Wars show. From the writing to the acting, everything feels authentic. This by far has been Disney's best live action, I think even better than the Mando, which was really good. Filoni is your man, if Disney can't see it now, I don't know what to tell them. He deserves a greater role in the Star Wars puzzle if Disney really wants this franchise to take off.
I honestly think they are going to make Shin the "Lana Beneko" type character from SWTOR. She's going to be our Dark Leaning ally in the movie that they are doing to wrap things up.
Shin does look at Baylan as though he were her Father. She has this sort of innocence towards him. It would absolutely be no surprise if she is his daughter. Either way she clearly sees him as a father figure. I agree that the actors are doing a good job, especially Baylen and Shin. Both have done an excellent job of portraying their characters so far as confident, powerful players without being overbearing nor cliche at all. Kudos to them both.
The way Shin looks to Baylan I couldn't help but draw parallels to how my daughter looks to me to gauge her own reaction to things. If Baylan dies I think it'll push Shin to the dark side. With Ray Stevenson's passing I can see that happening. Perhaps Thrawn becomes that new father figure for her as Thrawn is very parental with younger people he mentors. I don't think Baylan will fall to Thrawn's hands. Ahsoka will likely strike him down and come to regret it.

Agreed! I like how she really is a Dark Jedi Padawan, and not some wannabe Sith freak. She's competent, but it's obviously due to her training under Baylan rather than that she's just over-powered and picked up the Force effortlessly (looking at you Rey). I hope they keep her in the franchise and develop her.
I'm really intrigued with these two characters. Definitely the best aspects of the show so far. Skoll and Hati is kind of a norse representation for Yin and Yang, Light and Dark. Their names perfectly convey that concept.
I find it really cool that Dave Filoni draws so much inspiration from mythology around the real world. Like for example, Bendu's cloud scene harkens back to tales of tempestaries who flew in the center of dark clouds and rained destruction on the land.
Shin Hatti has been SUCH a great surprise! I am so intrigued by her and Baylan. I hope she has a great character arc and stays around for ages! I want to know so much more.
I was intrigued by Baylan's introduction. He may have looked like a Sith but he had traits as a former Jedi during The Clone Wars once we learned about him. He's not just some dark side user but we know he's a dark jedi as he survived Order 66. It was so intriguing that I hope we find more on his story especially as a Jedi. His lightsaber according to Huyang is one of the oldest crafted lightsabers. I get he doesn't want to kill Ahsoka as she's one of the last Jedi left. RIP Ray Stevenson.
Imagine if Baylan turns back to the light side and sacrifices himself so that Shin can escape with his last words to Ahsoka with him saying save my daughter before turning to face off against Morgan Ellsbeth and Marrok allowing Ahsoka and Sabine to escape with Shin who could becomes Ahsoka’s second Padawan

I love Shin Hati's character because she's not the usual "daddy issue/ I always have to prove myself because i am a female character. As you said, well written. I personally think that she will turn to the dark side after her master/father's death at the hands of Ahsoka.
For musical continuity I'm really glad Dave kept Kiner on this project too, since he scored Clone Wars, Bad Batch and Rebels having him here makes it feel seamless and connected on a more subconscious level. And if this big movie is happening which may bring mando, ahsoka etc together, id be interested to see who scores that since Ludwig scored Boba and Mando, well S1 and 2

About the music comment you made. There’s a documentary about the scoring on 1,2,3 and especially on the dual of the fates that I revisit all the time. That song gives me the chills every time and just watching the documentary makes you shiver
Baylan and Shin are awesome new characters (which makes the loss of Ray Stevenson all the more tragic). They are the best depiction of "Dark Jedi" that I have yet seen. They're not Sith freaks or wannabes (like the Inquisitors). Baylan seems to have trained Shin in a fairly traditional Jedi way, just with less emphasis on staying within the Light. They really do come across as a Jedi Master and his Padawan, instead of a Sith Lord and their Apprentice. They're both really intriguing and I do hope that Shin at least will be an ongoing character in the franchise.
I’m guessing he’ll either die or turn back to the light side. However I don’t think she will, she is far more aggressive than he is. You can see that by both of their fighting styles. He is like an injured lion, he moved around slowly and waits for his enemies to get within striking distance. She runs around like a cheetah slashing everyone that gets in her way.
Ray Stevenson will be missed. I first saw him in Rome and his portrayal of Titus Pullo made me an instant fan of his work (Kill the Irishman was another phenominal performance). I was and am still excited for his performance as Baylan. I enjoy the theory take and knowing that Dave Filoni is running this, I have complete confidence his character will be given its just due.
The introduction of the character was brilliant "These people are claiming to be Jedi I suspect they aren't really", and then having them prove that by killing people. A great example of SHOW more than TELL in storytelling. Instead of them sitting on a ship doing nothing and saying "Yeah I used to be a Jedi but now I've lost faith"
My favorite shot of the show is probably Baylan looking up at the Purrgil. I actually think Shin will be upset by Baylan going more towards the light side and she will be the one to kill him. I think Shin’s body language towards him at the end of episode 2 speaks to this.
Its terrible news that Ray passed away this year. My condolences to his family and friends, I'm sure he was a great guy. I really hope we get some more Skoll stuff though maybe in books or cartoons or something. He and Hatti seem like they are really cool characters. Not unlike Bane and Zannah bringing back the rule of two. They were outcasts much like Skoll and Hatti. They can really build on the two new characters a lot I think.
I like the theory that we're dealing with the "3 witches" trope. I think Baylin is going to turn to the light at the end and Shin Hati, Sabine, and Ahsoka are going to be the key to unlocking "something". Maybe Morgan will play that role initially but it will be taken over by one of the other women. I could see maybe Shin ending up being a witch of Dathomir and becoming a witch apprentice making her a witch/jedi hybrid. I could see Sabine doing this as well, but that would be too much for her character.
With the Jedi being extinct for only 35 years by the time of Ahsoka, how is it the the entire galaxy forgot about them, With some people even calling them myths? It just doesn’t make to much sense that people could complete forget about something in the span of almost four decades.
You could feel Balyins attachments and fondness for the Jedi he came from. Stevenson did an excellent job communicating this without making it too overt, and he kept that feeling of calm nobility as well in the character which gives you the feel.....of a Jedi. It is a damn shame he passed. He was a FIT for the Star Wars Universe and had a future here. Shin you can CLEARLY see does not trust the witch or these plans, and is a devoted follower of her master. Yes, i do think they turn. And i think neither alone would be a match for Ahsoka 1v1.
I've been predicting since I finished the first episode that Shin will end up Ahsoka's padawan at the end of the season. The stuff you're predicting about Baylan here would set that up nicely.

I think that’s a really good theory and I hope it’s true, it’s really devastating that Ray Stevenson passed especially because his character is so awesome, but given the sad circumstances of his passing, the best outcome of a bad situation is that his character sacrifices himself at the end and his apprentice turns back to the light because of it, it would be an incredible sendoff for his character and an awesome tribute to Ray. He’s only been in a few scenes so far and already one of my favorite characters in Star Wars
I think Baylan and Shin have been my favorite characters of the show so far. They are both very interesting, they look ascetically cool, and I want to learn more about them.

I think old lady reva will turn up so they all band together to kill her. However their lightsabers don’t work against her because she’s god apparently so they strap her to a Purrgil and she goes to a galaxy even farther farther away.

I think Baylen is going to be cut down by his apprentice. I think he's in the middle but she is going down the dark side path. And when her master ultimately decides not to chose power she will cut him down. And take his place. Like a good Sith is suppose to do.
Good to find someone who's talking positively about Ahsoka series. I do have some disagreements in the direction Star Wars as a whole seems to be headed, but all things considered Ahsoka isn't that bad of a show, it seems to me that a lot of people are jumping on the hate train when it comes to everything Star Wars. I have many qualms with the Ahsoka series and live-action portrayal/adaptation of Ahsoka, Hera, and Sabine, but Shin has been one of the more compelling characters in the Disney era of Star Wars and it’s an absolute shame that Ray Stevenson has already passed away.
Maybe it’s just me, but here’s where I’m at with Baylon and Shin. baylon found her like a Jedi would find a youngling, maybe an orphan, since he was a Jedi, she would carry herself as a padawan. I’m also thinking that since he’s basically a mercenary now, it would cause his light saber to turn orange, or, where ever he disappeared to after order 66 maybe the only crystals he found were orange, it would make sense since they both have orange sabers. Since depending on their strengths the color of their lightsaber was, it would be hard to guess that if his crystal was originally possibly yellow hers likely wouldn’t be, unless he had extra yellow crystals. I also enjoy both of them, Hatti is a well written character.
I agree about him flipping. But, I think his crystal is a refined Kholen crystal because he somehow lost his crystal, which was a major plot point in the Master and Apprentice novel.
I could see Baylan and Luke meeting. Baylan telling Luke he's too far gone to return to the light, and Luke telling him that even Anakin returned to the light in the end. Boom.

But, what are the chances that they use his death to introduce another really powerful force user like Starkiller? I know its a real long stretch, but I keep hoping they'll bring Starkiller into mix at some point. I wonder if Baylan is a gray Jedi. Since his confliction on killing Ahsoka hints at his light side tendencies, he also taps into the dark side to do what needs to be done in hunting her down. Ima say, baylan lost his apprentice in O66, this new apprentice was found in his travels and in order to save her he had to take an innocent life, forcing him to realize his “truth” were the jedi was wrong and maybe the dark is where he finds “peace”
I dont think they are related. They have different surnames and even alone she still calls him master. I personally believe that she has a similar back story to Ezra where she had a hard life, maybe an orphan living on the streets or a slave and Baylan found her, gave her a home, power and a purpose. It will be a "nature vs nurture" debate where Shin is only bad because that is how she was brought up. This will make the audience sympathetic for her and make her turn to the light more welcome. It doesnt seem that baylan is to hard on her, just led her down the wrong path that he himself is trapped on.
I think Baylan will sacrifice himself too. He will save one of main characters and sacrifice himself. He will return to the light. Shin will return to the light too because of this and join Ahsoka and other heroes. She will have many adventures and experiences too. I also think she's pretty good. I want to know her more. I am fairly certain Baylan was inspired by Soran from the famous fan film, Dark Resurrection. Not only by looks, but by demeanor he is is very similar.
I think the Zeffo references are purposeful. What if they connect Tanalorr and Cals Jedi order and Merrin being a night sister to this new Galaxy I think it would be pretty suite like what if Tanalorr was a bridge for each Galaxy or something and that’s why Dagan was sup obsessed with it as well. Food for thought.

They're both really intriguing and I do hope that Shin at least will be an ongoing character in the franchise.
These two characters are really good so far! I am excited to see where Shin's story goes.
I’m guessing he’ll either die or turn back to the light side. However I don’t think she will, she is far more aggressive than he is. You can see that by both of their fighting styles. He is like an injured lion, he moved around slowly and waits for his enemies to get within striking distance. She runs around like a cheetah slashing everyone that gets in her way.
Ray Stevenson will be missed. I first saw him in Rome and his portrayal of Titus Pullo made me an instant fan of his work (Kill the Irishman was another phenominal performance).
I was and am still excited for his performance as Baylan. I enjoy the theory take and knowing that Dave Filoni is running this, I have complete confidence his character will be given its just due.
The introduction of the character was brilliant "These people are claiming to be Jedi I suspect they aren't really", and then having them prove that by killing people. A great example of SHOW more than TELL in storytelling. Instead of them sitting on a ship doing nothing and saying "Yeah I used to be a Jedi but now I've lost faith"

My favorite shot of the show is probably Baylan looking up at the Purrgil. I actually think Shin will be upset by Baylan going more towards the light side and she will be the one to kill him. I think Shin’s body language towards him at the end of episode 2 speaks to this.
Its terrible news that Ray passed away this year. My condolences to his family and friends, I'm sure he was a great guy.
I really hope we get some more Skoll stuff though maybe in books or cartoons or something. He and Hatti seem like they are really cool characters. Not unlike Bane and Zannah bringing back the rule of two. They were outcasts much like Skoll and Hatti. They can really build on the two new characters a lot I think.
I like the theory that we're dealing with the "3 witches" trope. I think Baylin is going to turn to the light at the end and Shin Hati, Sabine, and Ahsoka are going to be the key to unlocking "something". Maybe Morgan will play that role initially but it will be taken over by one of the other women. I could see maybe Shin ending up being a witch of Dathomir and becoming a witch apprentice making her a witch/jedi hybrid. I could see Sabine doing this as well, but that would be too much for her character.

With the Jedi being extinct for only 35 years by the time of Ahsoka, how is it the the entire galaxy forgot about them, With some people even calling them myths? It just doesn’t make to much sense that people could complete forget about something in the span of almost four decades.

You could feel Balyins attachments and fondness for the Jedi he came from.
Stevenson did an excellent job communicating this without making it too overt, and he kept that feeling of calm nobility as well in the character which gives you the feel.....of a Jedi. It is a damn shame he passed. He was a FIT for the Star Wars Universe and had a future here.
Shin you can CLEARLY see does not trust the witch or these plans, and is a devoted follower of her master.
Yes, i do think they turn. And i think neither alone would be a match for Ahsoka 1v1.

I've been predicting since I finished the first episode that Shin will end up Ahsoka's padawan at the end of the season. The stuff you're predicting about Baylan here would set that up nicely.

I always love the fact that Samuel L Jackson was just like I want a purple light saber so I can pick myself out in movies.. but fans have decided nope forget that you are a Jedi that has Light and dark side ways so your light saber is purple to show.

I think that’s a really good theory and I hope it’s true, it’s really devastating that Ray Stevenson passed especially because his character is so awesome, but given the sad circumstances of his passing, the best outcome of a bad situation is that his character sacrifices himself at the end and his apprentice turns back to the light because of it, it would be an incredible sendoff for his character and an awesome tribute to Ray. He’s only been in a few scenes so far and already one of my favorite characters in Star Wars
I think Baylan and Shin have been my favorite characters of the show so far. They are both very interesting, they look ascetically cool, and I want to learn more about them.
I'm sad he didn't get to see this. Usually actors don't see the show till everybody else either. They usually don't even know what scenes are being used and stuff. Really sad he died shortly after the trailer was released

I think old lady reva will turn up so they all band together to kill her. However their lightsabers don’t work against her because she’s god apparently so they strap her to a Purrgil and she goes to a galaxy even farther farther away.

I honestly don't like Shin. Baylan Skoll is by far my favorite character from the show. He's very calculated in his actions and is very wise. He's kind of like Qui Gon.

It could go the opposite way,, that Skoll will die, ,yes,, but to Ahsoka or one of the ''good guys'', and that will make Hati feel more hatred, anger and fully turn to the dark side and become Thrawn's right hand or something? or just going her own way and to try aveng her master's death
I tend to agree that Baylan will turn back to the light, but I'm less certain that Shin will turn back as well. Or at least I'm less certain that she'll turn back immediately upon Baylan's death/sacrifice without needing her own time to defeat her own internal struggles.

Soon as he said it's a shame to kill a Jedi i I was intrigued. As for Shin, I hope she stays around for a long time going forward. Bad or good, doesn't matter.
I think Baylen is going to be cut down by his apprentice. I think he's in the middle but she is going down the dark side path. And when her master ultimately decides not to chose power she will cut him down. And take his place. Like a good Sith is suppose to do.

Good to find someone who's talking positively about Ahsoka series. I do have some disagreements in the direction Star Wars as a whole seems to be headed, but all things considered Ahsoka isn't that bad of a show, it seems to me that a lot of people are jumping on the hate train when it comes to everything Star Wars. I was sad to learn Disney already tanked the idea of a possible second season

I have many qualms with the Ahsoka series and live-action portrayal/adaptation of Ahsoka, Hera, and Sabine, but Shin has been one of the more compelling characters in the Disney era of Star Wars and it’s an absolute shame that Ray Stevenson has already passed away.
At least episode three gave us a few scenes that were more Asohka like with some quips here and there. But on the whole I agree.

Maybe it’s just me, but here’s where I’m at with Baylon and Shin. baylon found her like a Jedi would find a youngling, maybe an orphan, since he was a Jedi, she would carry herself as a padawan. I’m also thinking that since he’s basically a mercenary now, it would cause his light saber to turn orange, or, where ever he disappeared to after order 66 maybe the only crystals he found were orange, it would make sense since they both have orange sabers. Since depending on their strengths the color of their lightsaber was, it would be hard to guess that if his crystal was originally possibly yellow hers likely wouldn’t be, unless he had extra yellow crystals.
I also enjoy both of them, Hatti is a well written character.
I agree about him flipping. But, I think his crystal is a refined Kholen crystal because he somehow lost his crystal, which was a major plot point in the Master and Apprentice novel.
Finally someone who understand that star wars draws a lot from mythology. Its been rare since Disney took over
I could see Baylan and Luke meeting. Baylan telling Luke he's too far gone to return to the light, and Luke telling him that even Anakin returned to the light in the end.

kinda reaching here but hear me out, first off I 100% agree that he's gonna turn and sacrifice himself somehow. But, what are the chances that they use his death to introduce another really powerful force user like Starkiller? I know its a real long stretch, but I keep hoping they'll bring Starkiller into mix at some point. And Baylans death, his one last act after coming back the light, is taking on someone like starkiller. Again I know I'm reaching but I think it'd cool AF. Appreciate you Bro, MTFBWY
I wonder if Baylan is a gray Jedi. Since his confliction on killing Ahsoka hints at his light side tendencies, he also taps into the dark side to do what needs to be done in hunting her down. He doesn't follow the Jedi code either. I know my thought is confusing, but just something about that donned on me.

Ima say, baylan lost his apprentice in O66, this new apprentice was found in his travels and in order to save her he had to take an innocent life, forcing him to realize his “truth” were the jedi was wrong and maybe the dark is where he finds “peace”

I dont think they are related. They have different surnames and even alone she still calls him master. I personally believe that she has a similar back story to Ezra where she had a hard life, maybe an orphan living on the streets or a slave and Baylan found her, gave her a home, power and a purpose. It will be a "nature vs nurture" debate where Shin is only bad because that is how she was brought up. This will make the audience sympathetic for her and make her turn to the light more welcome. It doesnt seem that baylan is to hard on her, just led her down the wrong path that he himself is trapped on.

I think Baylan will sacrifice himself too. He will save one of main characters and sacrifice himself. He will return to the light. Shin will return to the light too because of this and join Ahsoka and other heroes. She will have many adventures and experiences too. I also think she's pretty good. I want to know her more. She's real character. Relatable. I like wolves too. Ray seemed like a really nice guy. He knows how popular he is. May the Force be with you too,always😊
I am fairly certain Baylan was inspired by Soran from the famous fan film, Dark Resurrection. Not only by looks, but by demeanor he is is very similar.
I think the Zeffo references are purposeful. What if they connect Tanalorr and Cals Jedi order and Merrin being a night sister to this new Galaxy I think it would be pretty suite like what if Tanalorr was a bridge for each Galaxy or something and that’s why Dagan was sup obsessed with it as well. Food for thought.
