I was born in 1968 in Croatia/Yugoslavia. Went to serve YU Army in 86/87, then i served in CRO Army from 92-95. War is futile and terrible loss of time and life. Sisters and brothers, peace and love from Croatia. Sunshine and smile included.

The whole "debt" angle is greatly overstated. The total amount borrowed was $8 billion, which after Reagans credit manipulations in the 1980's became $21 Billion. Even this number is paltry compared to the size of the Yugoslav economy which in 1989 even after severe economic crisis was at $129.5 Billion. The debt was merely the excuse and a tool/weapon by which the capitalist forces dismantled the welfare state of Yugoslavia leading to the tragedy in the 1990's.

While serving in Germany back in 1968. We took the nuclear weapons to their war time locations due to the Russians being on the move. We were fully armed and at first were not told what the situation was. Can you imagine how we felt as 18 years olds knowing that this could be the start of a nuclear war. Thank god it didn't go that far.

I remember the crisis from the early 80s, i was lucky, i live some 100+ km from Italy,so we could go shop there. In YU we were scarce of coffee, bananas, detergent for laundry, the fuel was rationalized but i was young, i just discovered punk and rock & roll and girls, i had no worry in my head

    Wow.
I listened to this as a podcast.
But I will watch later on my TV when I have time.
Looking at old ancient ruins, and we wonder why something so amazing was destroyed, one must look at modern war and the malice it carries to understand why so many ancient wonders were deliberately obliterated.

Around 6:50, where the gentleman states that it was the days of such & such, and such & such, and “it was the days of the nuclear threat”, I’ve got news for him… We’re still in those days, baby. Since 1945, when that particular genie had been let out of the bottle, the Earth has been in the days of the nuclear threat, and will continue to do so until either our extinction, that weapons technology’s extinction, or the most likely scenario, both.

What is left of a big, strong country with a world reputation is nothing but ashes. Divided and stolen in this way, now we are uniting again, wanted or not, in the European Union. Unfortunately, only as servants of the "great master". Obviously, we didn't deserve anything better.
