He wont be disappointed, love this little engine. There is a 10hr/200mi break in period, and it definitely is getting more powerful the more I ride it. But the gearing is shorter than the 500 outlander so 61mph on the Speedo is probably all she has. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that runs trails and does yard work.
just picked up one of these 450's....5 hours so far and man these things do fly....havent topped out or anything yet. but im use to the old school honda 300s so this is quite a bit more bike. they do seem cheaply made though
I build performance race engines on the side, I'm not worried about stressing an engine on break in.... If it's gonna blow id rather it be early. Thanks for trolling though.
marc olson you are correct! All manufacturers stress the engine long before we mash the gas on our new rides. I always do a hard break in on all my new bikes/ATV's.
Impressive that's a really good top end speed. Can am dealer tells you to break In a new bike by coming on to it just don't hold it wide open for long and the break in period is only 40 kms so you didn't do anything wrong there
idk wat anybody says bout can am there great ATVs I'm a Polaris man but 61 on a 450 is impressive I remember 15 years ago my 450 foreman top speed was 45 on GPS with 26 mudlites
I thought that looked like Northern MN and then I saw the Duluth lawn and sport key! How is the ATV treating you? I'm researching for what I am going to get!
Ive had one issue with my can am and the fix was free(bad ground connection at the chassis), other than that its been a flawless wheeler. After the break in chip burned out it will actually do 68 on dirt and will touch 70 on paved roads. I'd recommend the 450 to anyone, more than enough power for around here. My old man bought a 570, definitely more power, same top speed. I upsized the tires to 26" Carlisle 489XL's and it helped the ride quality greatly.
For the most part its been great, the only issue I've had was the chassis ground, was riding at night and the lights started flickering and I started getting high and low voltage warnings, I replaced the voltage regulator and it didn't fix it, found the chassis ground and turned the key on and wiggled it and the lights went nuts, cleaned up the connections and put the bolt back in and other than that issue its been flawless. I've got 1500 miles on it now.
My 450L is a dead tie with my buddy's grizzly 700 on pavement, from a stop he does a huge wheelie and looses, from a slow roll we look at each other til 60+mph
TurkMaster 45 I seen your video on your outlander 450 when you broke the engine block. I was considering that quad to be my 2nd one :( so I'm assuming maybe I should not buy it??? I have seen my dad's outlander 800 2010 and he has not had any problems with it other than a tire and a driveshaft
The Outlander Lmodels have not been out very long. They haven't been out long enough to work out the bugs which is the reason why my quad is not any good I would suggest the 650 XT
TurkMaster 45 yeah you might have just got a lemon from the start. my uncle Chris has one and it has been good to him except for when he had it in mud up to the seat because muddy water got in the clutch and totaled it
2200mi on it now, I had an issue with the chassis ground being loose and caused the headlights to flicker and hard starts but I cleaned everything up and tightened it like its supposed to be and trouble free otherwise...

I had my 450 for 3 years and put almost 4k on it problem free.
That's pretty good for a 450. My 500 KingQuad does 63mph. They're pretty much even in HP! Guy in our group suppose to pick one up tomorrow morning.
Curious. Ik it's a super late reply. But I'm stuck between kingquad 500 and outlander 450. What's faster?
@@narutoguy345 outlander
@@w.r9861 idt the outlander 450 would beat a king 500. I have a king 500 thing is a beast. Coop mod3 clutch and a k and n filter thing rips
For a 450 that is really good
I realize video is 6 years old but I might buy a used 450L with a blade to push snow and tool around. It has 1700 miles. Hopefully I will like it.
Great job...new engine and you stressed the hell out of it. You really gave the rings time to wear in and the valves time to seat properly.

Is it reliable
My atv burned down today and i had to jump off at around 15 mph

marc olson what do you mean by break in chip?
@@DEM0Nx667 what is a break in chip
That’s odd. Mine is a 2016 and it goes 65-66
Turkmaster45 was that down a big hill with a tail wind? Lol
marc olson mine hit 98 on the flat vido to come
how is this quad for reliability

What kind of gas do you run?
87 octane
How does this thing fare against the old Yamaha 450 Kodiaks? Need something for my wife and I quite liked the Kodiak but I'm a Canam guy. Lol

marc olson I have the Yellow one but can u actually beat the 700 my neighbor has one
I got mine outlander 450l too 70mph
Valley Boy Productions going downhill maybe lol
I've gotten 67 on a flat gravel road with 28 Mayhems
Bull crap
I'm toppled my out at 65 once, which will probably never happen again.

Well I don't know why I said that because I don't have enough money yet I was hoping to get one by late 2017 or early 2018
They might be able to work out the bugs by then you might be ok
TurkMaster 45 yeah you might have just got a lemon from the start. my uncle Chris has one and it has been good to him except for when he had it in mud up to the seat because muddy water got in the clutch and totaled it
I got my outlander L 450 to 74 mph once or twice
How
Definitely not stock
Mine was limited at 97kph
Same do u know how to change that ?
my 2021 can am 450 does 66 mph.
That’s faster then the grizzly 700 is and can am is relabeled.
How is the reliability

Thanks I just bought one
You won't be disappointed!

I have the same quad I hit 80 on a flat road
2019 faster than that ……
Mine would do 72mph after the 10hr 200mi chip burned out of it.
