Kasey didn't do this for fame. She already is a hugely successful artist in Australia. She did it because Eminems version moved her and she wanted to pay homage to him.
Kaseys career and body of work and legacy is already set in stone in Australia (youngest ever inductee into the hall of fame, one of her Songs being used on the Sopranos etc). So no she, didn't do the song for "the fame". She was on lockdown during covid and needed something to tackle creatively and as a fan of Eminem she created this
She definitely would have looked right in to the words and even lived them. Earlier on in her career she wasn't taken very seriously and struggled for some of the public etc to accept her etc. Since then she has been the youngest artist to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. She's not always my style of music, but I totally respect her for her talent and how she wears her heart on her sleeve. This performance totally confirms that belief. Brilliant from all angles. Including her father Bill on the steel lap slide, he definitely made that thing cry!
Apparently this wasn't being recorded but because this had such a huge response, they asked those who were there to send in their recordings and what you watched was the result of splicing the film together. Hi from Australia
this recording was a ‘sleeper’ - something Kasey worked out during lockdown, it’s her creation, she is an enormously respected artist here in Australia - please don’t disrespect her. She is a creative force of nature, her voice is an amazing gift. I’ve been a fan for close to 30 years… I’ll leave it to others to fill in her backstory. next work of hers you could look at is ‘Ain’t no Little Girl’
Shes a huge Eminem fan herself and developed this during lock down...He must have liked it cos he's given her permission to put it on Spotify...I think she's done it with the greatest respect to him..she doesn't need the fame she's already Australia's youngest ARIA (Australian Record Industry Association) award winner
Kasey's motivation for doing this is of no consequence. She doesn't need to ride on the back of someone else's 20 year old lyrics. Just because you don't know of her doesn't mean she's not a superstar. You've probably never heard of John Farnham, either.
She is a huge Eminem fan and chose to honour his lyrics with her version. She doesn’t do anything just for fame, especially not to denigrate Eminem, she is a true artist and famous in her own right. Just because the USA doesn’t know her doesn’t mean zip to us Aussies..
She lived these lyrics. You look at her early career and she more than 20 years ago she had huge critical acclaim but was ignored by radio stations because she didn't look like a pop princess. She released a song call 'am i not pretty enough' in response to this and it ended up being a huge hit.
Loved watching your reaction change as it went along. Kasey made it into an epic journey, nearly a rock Ballard/anthem. People have already pointed out she did it for something to do and didn’t plan on releasing it. We all just got lucky 😁
You don't know it ,but you've probably heard her music before, it's been on the radio,in movies and television shows. In Australia she has gotten every award a musician can get.
Thanks for doing this one! This gives me chills every single time I hear it. Kasey going from that resigned, laid back approach early in the song to the fighting emotion later is beyond powerful! 💪🏼 Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I guess he has, as he did give her permission to upload to Spotify etc. Would really like to hear what he thought about it though. Where else would you see head-banging with a banjo, steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. From what I understand, Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was that for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar and her brother Nash on lead guitar and backing vocal. Full kudos to Eminem for his songwriting. Personally, the reason Kasey’s version affects me so much is all down to the fact that she did lose herself in the music, the moment during this performance. Kasey kept the cadence but slowed it down, even in the full rock part. She is a true blue Aussie who will leave her soul bared on stage every single time. ❤ The video was a montage from the audiences phone vids… deliberately done to make it a more intimate experience.
There is confirmable evidence anywhere that Eminem has seen/heard this brilliant version - even if he had, as he doesn't own the copyright to Lose Yourself - he can't give her permission to monetize it on Spotify
Pretty sure if she was doing it for fame she’d have done a professional recording… which she didn’t. She had to ask people to send in their phone footage. Gotta love the people who prejudge without having all the information.
No one prejudged anything. When you cover a huge artist's song that's a obvious thought. For me to pretend it's not is idiotic. I concluded by the end that that probably wasn't her motivation. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@BPDProductions-fd9fe so you say by the end you concluded that was ‘probably’ not her motivation?! Yet you say you didn’t prejudge her. That’s called prejudging.
@@julzhunt7790 I asked a question in the beginning is it that or did the song resinate with her. At the end I had my answer. Also as far as the big star thing, she is a star but he's a megastar. My thanks for watching Kasey but, like most of the others commenting, I think you do Kasey an injustice when you say things like: I wonder about her motivation, that if she did an eminem cover it would bring her fame; "I'm sure she's famous in her own way, this is her shot at superstardom." She has said she is a long-time eminem fan and for some time thought of doing "Lose Yourself" with a banjo. The COVID lock-down gave her the opportunity. Finally, consider the 3 shows she is playing in July: Thalon - a town in grain growing country in QLD with a population of less than 300; the closest towns (640 pop.) is only 40km (25miles) but the closest city, Brisbane, is 440km (273miles) away Darwin - capital of the Northern Territory, an Australian "stste", with a population of 140,000; Darwin is very isolated, closer to Indonesia than it is to most of the Australian population Fitzeoy Crossing - a remote WA town with the closest towns 391km (253 miles) west and 298km (185 miles) east; the total population of the Fitzroy Crossing region is less than 4,000 people.
