Hi Nino. Like B&W’s PX line of noise-canceling over-ear headphones, B&W utilized the same engineers as the team that was behind their prestigious 800 Series Diamond speakers. These are the same speakers used at Abbey Road Studios, and we think this is what sets both the PI7 and the PI5 apart from other in-ear headphones. Hi Michael. The PI7 does support Apple lossless up 24-bit/48 kHz, however Dolby Atmos is really used for multi-channel surround sound systems or soundbars, so like most 2-channel headphones Dolby Atmos should not work with the PI7. So after a few days of tests & trials -> Unfortunately I am sending the P17 back now. I have more than 20 DACs and the P17 only works "halfway" with my mobile phone and the FiiO X5 iii. I already know my way around the devices and usually know how to connect them. When it is running (FiiO X5 iii), the Ear-Bud sounds good to fantastic, but the volume is pretty low and the Bluetooth range is small and very prone to interference. It may be that this changes with firmware updates, but for the retail price I am expecting more. I like the ear buds themselves very much & are of high quality, but the case itself looks kind of cheap and not particularly durable. It's not mine (even if I'm otherwise a Bowers & Wilkins fanboy) so I'll give it back. Maybe I caught a Monday model too?

We didn't experience any of those issues when testing ours with Apple iPhones, Android-based smartphones, and our laptops - however pairing PI7 & PI5 with smartphones or laptops are the expected use cases, so one might run into issues with products it was not intended to work with like the FiiO X5 iii. These look pretty nice. I'm kind of over wireless buds and have been enjoying wired IEMs with a bluetooth DAC/amp for about a year. These may tempt me to give them a try as they do seem a step up from the other popular wireless buds. I am adding an edit as I hadn't yet got to the bit about battery life. What are they thinking? That is about half the battery run time of my Sony wf1000xm3 which are quite old now. I don't care if it is 32bit playback if it only plays for 4 hours.

Hi Jack. From the review: "The PI5 gives you access to twin built-in microphones for high-quality phone calls, noise-canceling features plus an ambient pass-through mode. The PI7 steps up the noise-canceling tech to Adaptive Noise Canceling technology that will automatically monitor and adapt to your surroundings in real-time so you can block out the external world and focus on the music. The ANC tech is driven by six microphones in the PI7 - three in each earphone - for crystal-clear sound quality with every phone call." - It looks like there was a typo in the chart where you got that info. Hope that helps. Thanks for letting us know and for watching!

Jumped on the PI7, sounds pretty good, battery lasted 3 1/2 hours only. If connected to my computer to watch a movie they only lasted 2 hours before needing charge. This option seems to drain the battery even faster. For sound quality alone they are pretty good, still think my Noble Falcon Pro’s are a bit more detailed being 3 drivers and the battery life is double but they do not have active noise cancelling. The Noble’s sit deeper in the ear so they passively block noise similarly to the active noise cancelling of the PI7’s. For the most expensive wireless iem so far I think they are just ok, battery life is too short, I’m going to return mine and stick with my others. Longest use out of one charge I received was 3 1/2 hours at 60-70% volume, so not even long even for a domestic flight.

I have B&W PX7s and love them. It's funny- I will spend as much as $5K on a sound system, up to $600 on headphones, but just can't justify spending a lot on earphones. That's a fair assessment. If you decide you want a really comfortable in-ear to use all day at work, or on the go, then compared to almost everything else out there, we think the PI7 and PI5 look and sound fantastic, plus their flawless connection with smartphones and computers makes them ideal for quick and easy everyday use. @@AudioAdvice I appreciate that but the battery life is another issue- 4 hrs is a tough pill to swallow. At this price point, I'm not expecting a flagship overall experience. I'm expecting these to be flagship tier at every single criteria with virtually no exceptions. 4 hrs is much less than every other pair of truly wireless buds I've owned. ANC and fast charging (which is standard with most devices these days) aren't enough to offset that downside.

A decent review without doubt. But I read all the comments first and listened to you.
Yes, I can confirm that the duration of the battery is not going to do B&W any favours here.
The case is flimsy as well.
Price point is B&W high end thinking.
Yes, they went all out to try a d beat the competition out there. And it’s a tough one now as nearly every brand has their own version.
So what is B&W doing that the others have not done?
That is the selling point here.
No earbud is the be all and end all in this market. I have tested the Senn True wireless ANC, Momentums, Sony’ M0000X3 , Bose QC ANC version, and the Jabra 75 ANC & 85 ANC as well as Apple’s high end earbuds and they all lack something that another one has.
Sony wins hands down for battery just as Sennheiser do for wide sound stage as do Bose for ANC compared to the others.
I will buy the PI7 in black when the price comes down as I am a Bowers & Wilkins speaker and headphone user.
Never had a problem with their tech in years. However, along comes a niche market product from a reknown brand which was bought by another company so they may well have invested more than just time in this excellent looking earbud design.

Hello it’s really worth paying the difference between PI5 & PI7. ? 150 dollars which is 75 percent more. 250.00 vs 400.00. Thank you so much for posting

Our pleasure. The PI7's ability to play through the case itself is super cutting edge and this is a real differentiator for an in-ear headphone at this price point. If you are already investing in a premium pair of in-ears with the great look and sound of Bowers and Wilkins, if you can afford the extra dollars to get the PI7s, you should. Even though they are more expensive we think they are the better value and certainly will bring a unique and high-end look compared to everyone else wearing the same Apple Airpods. First, the PI Series are best in class wireless in-ear headphones, and ones that really stand out. The second point is that for every review we do, there are dozens of products we don't put out videos on. In other words, we simply don't waste people's time with reviews and comparisons on products that we don't believe in. The third point is that our individual reviews are where we dive deeper into any of the negatives if there are any to call out. Also does this have pass through sound while listening. I'd like to be able to hear people approaching while I walk on a bike path. Would this use the same app. that my PX7 uses on my iPhone/iPad? Hi Bill. The PI7s support pairing with multiple devices, so you can transition between your phone, laptop, tablet, and other devices. Your music, movies, and conversations will also follow wherever you go similar to the PX7s. There's also Adaptive (ANC) active noise cancellation which monitors the noise around you and automatically adjusts to ensure your music is all you will hear. When you want to hear the sounds in your environment, the PI7’s Ambient Pass-Through feature will let you pause the music and have a conversation without taking out the earbuds. We did our testing with an iPhone and a Macbook Pro without any issues. Today my P17 arrived and I was really happy because I'm a big Bowers fan (own P5, P5 wireless, P7, PX, PX 5). I'm currently very disappointed The P17 cannot be coupled with my favorite FiiOs (M11, M11pro, M15) & if then only without audio media -> so no music * grrr coupling then works with FiiO x7 ii & iBasso DX160, I was really happy -> but then only massive dropouts * I'm pissed, unfortunately * When music played for 2 minutes without interference, the sound seemed to be very good. Now I'm disappointed & maybe send it too back With the other Bowers (P5 wireless, PX, PX5) I have no problems with the connections & no interference either .... It's a shame, but maybe someone has an idea how to get them to work without interference?

I listen to all genres of music and these sound great with everything I've listened to but especially good with any detailed instrumental. In this scenario, we were really surprised to see the battery performance really wasn't an issue. When you leave your desk, 4 hours is actually really practical in practice when you are on the go. In terms of Bluetooth, both support Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm’s aptX™ for hi-res audio with better than CD-quality from streaming services like Qobuz. However, when you step up to the PI7, you will get a higher resolution capability with 24-bit/48 kHz wireless transmission between each earbud compared to just 16-bit/48 kHz with the PI5. You still get aptX with the PI5, but the range of aptX compatibility is extended on the PI7. The PI7 gives you aptX, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, and aptX Classic. Hope that helps! If you truly need a more audio file or audio accurate experience on the go get wired earbuds not only will the blackout sound a lot better but they will most likely be less cost and still have a good microphone for calls if it comes to that I can live without wireless I still have my C7 is back up for traveling wirelessly I just use the Apple AirPod pros. Not even the build quality or features is even in the same league as the top of the range models that are $100 less. I have seen these exact same looking dual driver units (used a Chinese no name manufacturer) almost two years ago on both Amazon and Ali Express for under $60. I wish I could find the listing again so I could post them to show you how identical the no name buds resemble these. It has been 2 years but i am confident you can find it again if you search hard enough. This is not a Bowers exclusive design (besides bowers and wilkins name placed on the generic shaped gold cover) nor do these sound like the famous audio reproduction their home speakers are known of . . . Sound quality is a subjective experience and depends on your individual taste however if I am going to throw down $$$ on buds its going to be the sennheiser momentum 2's or the new m and d mw8's. Armature drivers? Please man. All the chifi low range buds are doing the same thing with comparable sound as these overhyped buds. I invite this retailer's customers to do their own research before spending $400 of their hard earned money on a pair of wireless earbuds with 4 hours of battery life which is mediocre at best . But I definitely want to compare them with the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 which are also titled to be "class leading" in terms of audio quality but with way better battery life.
Besides the weak battery of the PI7 the next big issue of them is the B&W App which doesn't include an equalizer and no option to change the gestures. So they're leading the way in tech.
The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 for example only have AptX - they lost Low Latency. So no good for media consumption.
These with device support should provide low latency and HD.
Few devices are there yet but they will be.
The retransmission case means you can use them with a Nintendo Switch for example.
Mulitpoint means they can connect to your laptop and phone at the same time
      Awesome for travel

Also who cares about the case?
      Looks are rather subjective
I think the Master and Dynamic true wireless earphones themselves look okay but not great
These look more premium and substantial but also rather chunky
Sennheisers look better than both to me I think

@@ShinShinokeyes the PX7 were better, but the bass on these was just too bloated in comparison. Audio sounds fairly compressed rather than natural. I guess most of the users that will buy these earphones are using an iPhone, so AptX is basically irrelevant.
