For several years I drove an airport shuttle as a retirement job. Many times on layovers waiting for flights to pick up passengers, I'd hang out at the Milw Airport depot watching trains. Seen that Dash 8 many times. Plus the "cabbage cars" (cab+baggage) which was an engine stripped of it's prime mover and turned into a baggage car with a cab so they could operate the train from the "cabbage car" with a unit pushing on the backend. It's been a couple years since I did that job and not sure if Amtrak still has the cabbage cars.
Great video along my old territory of the railroad. My wife and I were out last Weekend on the C&M sub not too far from your locations to get a few nice things running including this Amtrak train.
The Dash-8s were ordered as to stand in for the delayed delivery of the P40s, and yes the Dash-8s do have Head End Power to provide electricity and heat to the coaches. Nowadays the Dash-8s on Amtrak do odd jobs such as stone trains and switching movements.
Thanks ! I never knew that , it’s cool to see them around . I have seen Amtrak 500 a couple years ago in the Milwaukee area as well . I love the p40s as well . It’s good to see them around once and a while
The first clip was like the amtrak p32 is trying to catch up to its older brothers

They haven’t been using them lately

I hope you had a fun time filming the Amtrak Hiawatha in the Milwaukee area.
Sorry for the uneducated comment . But wondering why Amtrak uses Dash 8s ? Just curious

@@Maunico0809 for the most part, yes. But to clarify, they were not ordered by Amtrak. They were offered by GE as compensation.
