  • Hi guys! This is my impression on the Kawai ES920.
    Overall I'm satisfied with it and for my need, it's sufficient. And I've already bought it anyway.
    I will answer your question in the comment if you have any.

      @@MrYonathanGodjali- you said that you are dissatisfied with the plastic feel of the keys & you demonstrated that. Considering that the keys are all plastic, how can the keys not feel like plastic? If there is some way other manufacturers have found to make plastic keys not feel like plastic, please let me know. I've never heard of a way.

    Hi from the USA. Just got the ES920 two weeks ago. Costs $1600 here plus tax of 7%. Plus $270 for the furniture grand stand. I'm just restarting piano after 30 years. The keys on the ES920 felt SO heavy at first! But in just two weeks, my fingers are not complaining that much. The sounds are awesome, drum rhythms are excellent. MIDI and Acoustic Bluetooth are standard here. Yes, the pedal is the best pedal I've seen. I smiled at the way you pronounced pedal pedaaal. :) Pedal sounds as in peddle. :) My keys are only half as noisy as what you demonstrated. As I said, for my untrained fingers, the keys are pretty heavy!
    See if you have the latest firmware: with the piano off, press down the piano 2, the organ, and the string buttons, *then* turn it on. The display will show the firmware. It should be v1.10 which is the latest. All said and done, I am very pleased! I prefer the EX ConcertGrand sound to the SK Concertgrand sound. And I love how you LAYER the sounds: combine two sounds into one. And save it as a registration for quick access. I combined the EX ConcertGrand and Warm Strings; nice combination sound! I'm learning a piece called "Hymne" by Vangelis, this combination is great for it. This is the piece: ua-cam.com/video/zYPo3Vz0oCE/v-deo.html

      Thank you for the firmware update info! I'm pretty sure mine is still on default stock, probably will update it later.
      For me the key is not heavy. But it's just a matter of habit and preference at the end of the day.
      Nice, I like my piano without string section. I guess I will keep using the SK Grand for now.

    I have owned Kawai ES8, MP7, Yamaha P515, MX88, Korg Grandstage and played both older CP80 and CP88. I also have an acoustic piano. For action among these DP I would rate CP 80 and Grandstage as the better ones and still not perfect tho, Cp88 is slightly heavy and bright sounding overall, the worst action would be P515 I returned it right away with in one week.
    The best DP action I've ever played was Kawai CA 98 and above they're so delightful and nimble to play

      The P515 action is on the heavier side I know it’s probably subjective some ppl might like it but not for me and the heaviest part is in the middle of the keyboard which is weird. As for the sound, it’s is a bit muddy and sort of muffle compare to any piano sound out there. P 215 and 115 sounds and feel a lot better although not as dynamic as P515

    Can you store modified piano patches. I know the EQ probably can't be stored but what about the other settings? Can you play some songs or compositions where you have used the strings or choir underneath the piano as a pad? Also if you have a virtual piano or synth on your computer can you patch the audio output of the computer instrument into the internal speakers of the es920?

  • @MarkP_Fan
    @MarkP_Fan 3 роки тому +3

    You asked about the Yamaha P515... the killer for me is that it has no way to save settings i.e. no user registration slots - NONE!
    I was really surprised by Yamaha's omission. So tweaking an instrument, or the piano room sounds or setting up a dual scenario with multiple instruments with no way to save the settings is an absolute deal breaker for me. That's why I'm considering the ES920 but I'm concerned about the key bed noise level and will have to try it for myself.
    UPDATE: I spoke with Yamaha and while it's true that the P515 has no on board user registrations, they directed me to their Smart Pianist App that allows access to all the features and DOES allow you to save settings. I plan to visit a store to check this out for myself.

    • @MrYonathanGodjali
      @MrYonathanGodjali  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the info! Tbh I wouldn't mind if there's no registration slot. At the same time I could see it would be irreplaceable feature for those who often use the feature.
      Good luck! I often use the built in speaker at around 25% volume, so the keybed noise (like clicky plastic against my finger) is obvious. But as I said in the video, this is me being picky about it.

    • @JoeLinux2000

      I mentioned, it might be possible to pack the plastic body with fiberglass or even Styrofoam packing peanuts to deaden the resonance of plastic body. Some type of foam or felt tape might help. I know the more expensive automobiles and even dishwashers have better sound deadening to make them operate more quietly. This is something Kawai should have thought about as this is supposed to be a premium portable piano. On a dishwasher, they just throw a thicker blanket over the top. The cheapest models may not have a blanket at all. So they are made deliberately to be noisy.

    5:08 I went to a Kawai store and tried the CA99 and SK-EX acoustic grand... they are both pretty light for the key action... so after playing on the CA99 for 15 minutes, I thought, "how come it is so weak"... maybe I am just not used to it

  • @JoeLinux2000
    @JoeLinux2000 3 роки тому +1

    As for the key noise it's very much like my Casio P-150. I'm disappointed about that. I'm wondering of some sound deadening material could be added to the inside. It sounds to me like the plastic case is acting somewhat like a guitar body.

      I have not played p515. But if your reference is your teacher's acoustic piano, my guess the Kawai ES920 keybed will be too light for you.
      If you can, try the p515 for Yamaha. If you want to go Kawai, the MP11se may be more suitable for your need.
