I love this song. RM doesn't want to follow what society expects from him to be or do. The last girl represents his inner true voice and helps him getting out of all those normal life sceneries and live his life the way he wants to.

I was also wondering if the girl represented his inner self. It reminded me of 'Map of the Soul' and the Carl Jung drawing. 🤔

Namjoon is a very unique artist. He doesn't make songs following trends just for money and views. He shows himself through his taste in music.

  • @kaerwyn

One of the popular theories about the MV which really resonated with me is that Namjoon is reflecting on his fears about was he a good enough son?, man in his 20's?, will he be a good enough boyfriend?, father?. He looks back/forward on those situations as if he wasn't good enough, he didn't fit there. It feels as if the moment he comes to terms with life and fears, when he meets the woman and spends the day chatting and laughing with her, that could be his own self conscious, he learns to embrace the fears and feel he was and is good enough and is able to reflect and look ahead to those situations with comfort and peace instead of fear. The pan out at the end showing every room/situation being a maze can reflect life and all of our situations. But, as is art, that might not be the answer and can be interpreted freely.
Thanks for your reaction Bryan! I've been looking forward to it. Have a fantastic upcoming weekend!

I like that theory! I also feel some of the same fears that Namjoon is talking about, as I am sure many people do. This album is going to be amazing, I cannot wait to hear the rest of it! Thank you so much for watching and for discussing the song with me!

I've heard that a lot of the visuals in this video are inspired by a book RM was reading, The Midnight Library. In the book, the Midnight Library is a place between life and death where the main character has access to all of the possible lives the main character could have lived and goes through some of the possibilities. I think that the final scene refers to the infinite possible lives. In the book, the library has a librarian, too, and I think that the woman that he walks off with might be that librarian. I've never read the book, though, so I don't know the details of the story. It seems to be a very RM thing to create an album around the concept of a book. It wouldn't be the first time.

Someone suggested that the ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ theme is present in this video, introducing both time and chosen person features. That is, when we’re not ready yet to experience something positive (time), or are with the wrong person (for us), life sometimes doesn’t work so well. Readiness for good relationships, readiness to even enjoy a party, hopefully come in time with greater maturity and our thoughtful efforts to make good choices. Also, it’s well known that dreaming about various rooms in houses often represents the different parts of our human psyche. Namjoon isn’t portrayed as dreaming or asleep, but the video sequences seem to mirror sequential dreamlike venues, I think.💜

I actually think he's portrayed as confused. Confused about life. And the lyrics make it sound as he's depressed (like not feeling to was his face or take a shower - he has a history of being depressed). When he's saying 'Come back to me', he's talking to himself to come back to himself, to come back by his senses (mentally). I think, when he meet the girl, wich represents his inner self, he realizes that he doesn't have to fit in and fit all the standards set by society and that he can be his true self. Now he can be happy in the moment (in every scenario in de video). He can be happy now (he found his Spring). Now he has the courage (he takes a deep breath) he can open the door and face life and its endless possibilities and consequences they have (represented by the endless maze of rooms). Now that he's content it's easier to walk through life.

The overall theme is self-acceptance and his journey of self-discovery (the search for what he wants in life)...

A lot of armys has already explained the theory behind the MV, so I'll just sit back and enjoy 😂❤ Even though the song starts slow and kind of uncertainty is felt in the 1st verse, but after that little switch (which I call beat change/drop) everything starts falling in place. The song gets groovy the more you hear it. And Joon breaking records with his songs like a KING! Fills me with great happiness ❤
Thankyou for reacting to BTS 💜

Considering the title of the album, I'd say it's about people suffering depression or feeling uncomfortable with themselves.
I think he's trying to say that no matter the place, if you don't feel good about yourself, you'll be the wrong person even at the right place. Our life will take place (comeback to us) after finding out who we really are.
He's a philosopher, loves to read about the meaning of life and human mind. Other than persona, ego and shadow, there is the anima (the other side of our personality, our female or masculine side). They say we'll be "complete" when in peace with this other side.
Of course, all of it is my theory, ok? (I received backlash from some nervous stans about other comments I wrote, that's why I'm saying that)

I like this interpretation! Not sure why people would get upset by it, art can have many interpretations. Art is viewed differently by everyone, we all have our own experiences and thoughts that shape how we perceive the world and those around us. Thank you for watching! 💜

    • @leahwarburton
      @leahwarburton Місяць тому +4

I agree; and I am so sorry that you have had problems expressing your opinions. The guys themselves, in the past, have said that whatever interpretation you put on a song/MV is valid - even if it's not the one they originally intended. That's because the way we look at, and interpret, things is informed by our personal viewpoints and life experiences. In fact, they have evn been impressed by the meanings people find in their music and MVs.
So stand strong. And ignore the naysayers. Remember what RM said "Do You".💜
