A lot of people don’t like this album’s sound but is by far the best Rise Against has ever been lyrically. Disparity by Design, A Gentleman’s Coup, Survivor Guilt and Endgame are 4 of my favourite songs ever lyrically.

Oh my god, I'm in love with this song. Especially being so cynical about war myself, yet having a boyfriend who's in the military. This song is the viewpoint I've always wanted to express.
Rise Against doesn't rely on just sound alone. They have some of the best lyrics ever.

@@af2876 its simple really, its from the point of view of the american pilot who is patriotic and ready to die for his country any minute, and another view is old italian man who saw and experienced allot in his life, the american pilot mention that he rather die fighting than surrender, and italian old man tells him that its beeter to live so he doesn't have to die at all.

I too am ex military and my therapist sais I live with survivors guilt so I know exactly what this song means. Great song and it always is a good song to listen to when you are down and out.

You people be glad the draft is still not instituted. We volunteered and knew what we were going to do. Those of us who survived think about our brothers and sisters in arms lost overseas. Yet we try to live in their honor so their legacy lives on.
Draft soldiers are the worst. Ask any Vietnam vet, they cannot be counted on and are only worried about getting home. They do not feel that comradery.

However, I'm always compelled to honor the troops that fought, because it takes a certain level of bravery to be willing to get shot at for your country. Even if the wars are meaningless, they don't have it very easy, and they do things I would never do. I respect soldiers, but not the war itself.

Economies change, especially when globalization is a factor. The US will only stay on top if we take initiative. We aren't invincible and we have been losing ground for years. Education and research is key.

It's better to die on your feet than to live in your knees, suggests that you have died the moment you were free, It's better to live on your feet than die on you knees means that is better to be free (alive) than dying on your knees... Since it is a song directed to the soldiers it kinda makes sense.... If a soldier died in the battlefield he died on his feet (unfortunelly some people do believe they are fighting for freedom), however he followed orders from the "weak", the "coward". Nonetheless the ones who turn their backs to war lived on their feet instead of dying in their knees cause they refused to fight for another person profict, a person that only sees you as a number in a war to preserve is lifestyle
Well the question is really would you rather die for your beliefs or live in oppression. Or to live free rather than die for others belief(not truly free.) Neither is a right or wrong ideology but the second comes across as there's always another way(a white flag warrior.)

Thats how the star spangled banner was made(the American national anthem).
I had the chance to reenlist but I didn't. 7 of my brothers died in an ambush in Afghanistan, the last words I heard from my best friend was "If only you had been there, we'd have been safe."

Falling on the knees is not necessary a bad thing, but staying there is one.
Artificial enemy refers to how we are in a 'War on Terror'. This means that we are fighting terror, instead of an actual physical being. Many higher authorities have even said that the war is to stop terror which could never be stopped. In fact, all we have done is seen the terror that a small group of people gave America and returned it with even more terror for the people in Iraq and Afghanistan.
