I randomly mention at 12:12 garlic comes out in the next 4-5 weeks. Its actually closer to 3-4 weeks. Ive averaged around the 2nd week of june! Last year was a week earlier! We shall see how this year goes! Thinking it will be close to mid june! But just wanted to correct that! Look for the bottom 1/2 of your leaves to die back and that's a good indicator its time to pull!
I love watching your garden tours so much I decided to start making some of my own!! We live in very different climates but I love seeing what you grow!! Thank you for being such an inspiration!
I love your videos so much. You inspire me to want to give gardening a fair chance. Recent stay-at-home mom lifestyle has been a big shock and I hope to establish a garden that not only feeds my family, teaches my kids about growing thing, but also gives me something for myself each day. Thank you, Bre!
Great video! The way to get ahead of the squash vine borer is to cover the vines as they grow with soil, or compost or mulch, especially at the leaf nodes, where the leaf stem meets the vine. You don't have to cover with much. It will do two things - it will prevent the vine borer moth from laying eggs there, and also, at the leaf nodes, the vine will sprout new roots fairly quickly. So if the base of the plant got attacked by a vine borer, the rest of the plant will be fine, due to the new roots. It really works.
This was my first year growing my own sweet potato slips as well and it took about 6 weeks for me to start harvesting them to place in water for root development. Last year I purchased slips but I am so happy to have had success. It’s much easier then I thought. Plus it was hard to find my desired organic variety in slips so buying the actual potato from the grocery store and starting my own is definitely most cost efficient!
I pickled garlic scapes and used them in egg salad! I pickled them a few inches long, and when i made the salad, I just chopped them up real small. It was delicious as a swap for the pickles.
I know you've gotten slips finally, but just to note I've gotten sweet potato slips at my local farmer's market as well as off facebook gardening groups for a lot less than online.
Hello from NW Missouri ! I just love your videos. I learn so much from you and you're so inspiring. I only have 2 raised beds and just bought the supplies to make a third. I'm hoping to have many more as time goes on. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens with us❤
I'm amazed by your lettuce growth! What variety are they? I would love to grow them. I'm in 6b so I love your videos. You're always just a couple weeks ahead of me and it gets me so excited for what's next in my own garden❤
I enjoy your videos. You are very detailed and informative. I planned a couple garlic cloves last fall and anxious to pull those in due time. By the way they're growing in my compost pile.
Hopefully your garden made it through the storms we had. Central kansas we had golf ball size hail, destroyed my little garden! Hopefully u had better luck your way
Please, try sour (fermented) cucumbers. It's a totally different taste, doesn't require sealing jars(cooking them) and they are rich in probiotics and vitamin c.
last year I did more fermenting of pickles than canning. I personally don't like pickles, so its just a extra thing for me thing year I plan on skipping out on. I may do a few fermented jars but nothing crazy like past years!
New to the channel. Love 💗💗💗💗 the content. For the pollination issues, have you thought of introducing pollinators like a beehive or butterfly sanctuary to your garden?
Hi Bre , I love your garden tour and all the info your giving.. I'm in need of a moveable fence for my chickens . What is that you are using to keep your
My garden is so much farther behind than yours! I'm so jealous of your lettuce. I've tried to direct sow it like, 7 times so far this year and only have 1 plant that's actually growing. I'll be starting those indoors next year!
I didn’t think to make powder out of the scapes. I think I try to do that this year. Do you do the whole scape or cut off the flowering part for dehydrating and making powder?
I Love ❤ your garden but I’m kinda wondering if you will ever get a Greenstalk? You can plant so much in them. They are very popular. Thank You for showing your garden so early. It looks great.
My strawberries are much smaller than yours and I’m thinking the reason why is because they are overcrowded. The reason I am coming to this conclusion is because I had a couple take root outside my bed last fall and those are much bigger than the ones in the bed. I think it’s getting too hot to try and thin them out now, but I plan to do that in the fall and see if that helps for next year. 🤞 Love your videos by the way! We are almost neighbors, but I’m just enough north of you to be a different zone - which means I can watch your video and follow right behind you - thanks!🙂
Thank you so much for watching! Strawberries have anyways been one of the trickier things to get consistent in my garden! Every year has been different from the next for me!
I got it from Mad River, I checked their website a few months back to see what varieties they had up for this following year and I havnt seen it either!!
I like your brown farmer pants . Can I ask what brand they are and where did you buy them ? Is there a male kind ? Can one buy them online . Thanks Trevor
Do you ever have slug issues when you start planting? All my direct sown crops got destroyed this year. I removed the straw mulch for now and am only planting out my established starts until the slugs calm down. I have excellent beneficial insects but so many teeny slugs
Im lucky to where I havnt delt with many! I deal with more pill bugs than anything. I do beer traps for those, and I believe they work for slugs as well! May want to check that out as a option!
@@itsbreellis I have started using them everywhere for sure. It is interesting to see what gets trapped, I apparently have a ton of teeny tiny slugs with a voracious appetite 🙈 sneaky buggers!
I order mine online from Blue Mountain Hay, it is not cheap but knowing the source is free of chemicals is worth it to me. It will sprout a little piece of hay here and there but you can easily just pick it out if you want. Super great quality and no issues!
Do you have trouble with ants on your loofa? You’ve never mentioned it but MAN: here in SW Ohio, ants love my loofa. I have to use diatomaceous earth to deter and destroy… thanks! ~Janelle

Healthy plants. You have a good knowledge about gardening

Thank you, Bre!
Thank you so much!! That is such a big switch, such a adjustment! You will get it all figured out!

Your garlic and lettuce look amazing! So exciting to see the growth of everything!
Thanks so much! Me too!
I found your channel around this time last year and absolutely fell in love with your garden ❤ so happy to see you continuing your garden tours!

Howdy from East Texas! Thank you for such a wonderful tour of your garden! Everything looks wonderful
Thanks for watching!
Garlic scapes are delicious in a quiche!
I'm defiantly going to throw them in my next one!!
Can you do a video about picking onion varieties for your latitude? You mentioned it but I’d love a video stepping us through the process.
I enjoy your videos. You are very detailed and informative. I planned a couple garlic cloves last fall and anxious to pull those in due time. By the way they're growing in my compost pile.
You’re doing a great job! 🎉
I have a great app that identifies plants.. it's definitely a winter squash! So exciting
Have you ever try keeping 2-3 garlic and onion plants and harvest the seeds?
Hopefully your garden made it through the storms we had. Central kansas we had golf ball size hail, destroyed my little garden! Hopefully u had better luck your way
ugh! So sorry to hear that! We lucked out, there was some decent size hail just miles from us! Its been a spring thats keeping me on my toes!
@@itsbreellis good to hear. U have to nice of a garden for it to get destroyed
Garlic scape pesto is my favorite! You might like to try it
Everything is looking nice!
Thanks for watching!!
Omg looking amazing over there 🌱 them tomato sacks are huge I personally would plant 4 in each one just add extra manure.
Please, try sour (fermented) cucumbers. It's a totally different taste, doesn't require sealing jars(cooking them) and they are rich in probiotics and vitamin c.

Garlic is looking extremely healthy and looking delicious 😊
Super excited about harvest!
Thanks Bre!! You're an amazing gardener, sharer, caretaker! Can you share where the bird bath is from?
Thanks! Its a concrete bird bath, I got at a estate auction! Not in the best conditions but it was cheap and it gets the job done!

Ive thought about it but never snagged one! I think it would be fun to try out!
I didn't realize you were in Kansas, greetings from Olathe!
Hi Bre! You're garlic looks so good. What's that hay topping you use to keep the weeds down in your raised beds?
Ive alwayd used one called EZstraw you can find it at most garden centers ( at least around me ) & also lowes
@@itsbreellis thank you!
Girl we have been hitting over 100 off and on for the last month! 🥵🥵 it is absolutely ridiculous, it has been so much hotter this year...

Hi! Where did you get your Georgian Fire garlic? I looked on Mad River Garlic Growers but only saw Georgian Crystal. Is that the same thing?
I got it from Mad River, I checked their website a few months back to see what varieties they had up for this following year and I havnt seen it either!!
Thank you so much for the reply!! I found your account this year, and I’ve learned so much! Trying lots of new things ❤️
Also how many chickens do you have? And how do I learn what growing zone I'm in?
Wow you have and amazing garden 🪴 😮wish I was a bug person so that I could have my own garden 🪴
Hi from Spain! Found you by IG. Came here like a rocket. Insta subbed. Love your garden/orchard work!

Yes, such a rip off to buy sweet potato slips! Love your videos!!!
Thank you for watching!!
Love your overalls.
Thank you!! They are my favorite! So comfortable! They are from Patagonia, but I believe they have switched up the style a bit.
Came to the comments for info on the overalls lol
How did you save garlic for seed?
You can make pesto with those.
Yes! Unfortunately I’m not the biggest fan of pesto! Maybe I need to play around more but it’s never been my thing.
Do you use straw for your mulch? When I use straw it throws so many seeds which turn into weeds.
I order mine online from Blue Mountain Hay, it is not cheap but knowing the source is free of chemicals is worth it to me. It will sprout a little piece of hay here and there but you can easily just pick it out if you want. Super great quality and no issues!
Ive always used one called EZStraw
I may need to check that out!
How big is ur backyard!
pickle the garlic scapes
Thanks for the reminder on that one! I may just do that with the second wave ill harvest!

Yah they typically around for sure!
any reason why you dont have any raspberry, blackberry, or blueberry bushes?
We never planned to stay here this long, and we didn't put much effort into perennials for that reason. Wish I would have lol

Am I the only one who kept saying your finger is on it when Bre was looking for the worm on the onions
