Sadly, homosexuals are disadvantaged, and discriminated wherever they are, more so in some countries than others, and even more so in some parts of their own country than others.
Societies are structured for straights. From the moment you realised you are gay you will find difficult to interact honestly with poeple around you because they will assume you are straight. for me there's no such thing as gaydar. it is the same as saying that gays look only a certain way, which is not true. That is stereotyping, which is bad. because some gay men actually look like any other straight man or sometimes even look more masculine than straight men and sometimes you'll only know when you ask them. not all gay men are effeminate. and even if some gays are masculine looking, it does not make them any less gay. they still like other men and not women. the same goes for lesbians. some lesbians look stunning that men would go gaga for but when you get to know them, they actually are really lesbians who like other women ann not men. better to get to know people rather than judge by their looks if they are gay or straight.
TwentyOneCrybabies attheDisco it's a big part of gaydar as a "concept." and in reality, yeah it's not just about looks. it's just one facet of knowing a person.
I don't really have stereotypes for gay men but I do have an intuition that can tell me someone may be gay - so you can call it gaydar or whatever. I admit sometimes it's about their appearance or postures/gestures, the way they talk, think, or the way they look at other men, but sometimes it's just the vibe/feeling, it's very hard to explain :)
It's something people who are gay tend to 'receive' It's not so much looks or actions it's an aura and being gay yourself you are familiar with it and almost becomes a 'gaydar' obviously there are times when they're wrong but a lot from my own personal experience and others is a majority of it is right. I believe that heterosexual people can have a 'hetero-dar' as they know the aura as they are one themselves so they could easily know who is gay or not. It's complicated - I am a transwoman who was originally a 'gay man' and it's a sense a feeling something that takes control.
No but I am bisexual and I generally know when someone isn't straight. Call it whatever you want, maybe it's just a lot of coincidence but I don't guess it from the looks, it's just... I know. It's weird
same... the more you go out into the world the more you realize that only by getting to know a person can you really know their sexuality. you can speculate bc the markers from past generations are still there sometimes, but ive had tons of friends who are "straight passing" but when i get to know them i realize that a lot of them are bi or lesbian/gay. you just can't tell as much these days, esp with how the idea and the concept of sexuality is evolving within societies. these days when people understand sexuality it's not about how one presents oneself on the outside but rather it's an internal process. maybe back then the only way to get other lgbt peoples' attention was through your physical appearance and the way you present yourself, but tbh these days the youth are kinda understanding that sexuality is a lot more fluid than they thought. that's why a lot of my friends identify as bi or gay but none of them have any markers as such that they're non straight apart from their behaviour with close friends. i have a lesbian friend who no one can really physically tell is a lesbian apart from the fact that she's quite loud about loving girls lol ^_^ it's the same w me, everyone just assumes im straight but im super bi and only my close friends know once i tell them. it's an interesting discussion to have abt how society shapes lgbt ppl.
I feel like the video didn't really cover what it was like being a gay in Korea, but just being a gay person in general...nonetheless it was still an awesome video! Thank you
Mσиαєgι X. 신호석 kpop boy is kind of exception, cause all performers are wearing make up to look good in camera. When he said "guys with eyeliner" it refers to normal people, not idols or actors
Wow, the amount of stereotypes about gay people - wear eyeliner and have a pouch... Also, girl and boy roles in bed? I knew Korea was stuck in the past, but I thought they were living it out in 1930s not fucking 1459...
I don't really like the interview but I think it's really important to talk more about homosexuality mostly in Korean where people are...not very (or not at all) open minded about this. The best thing about homophobia is knowing. Bc when you know what it's really like you have no more reason to hate it. Bc homosexuality is just two people who love each other, and it isn't weird or disgusting like some people think
One step after another, that's how minority can get the freedom they deserve. No matter which minority we're talking about, all their rights can come with this kind of initiative. One video and then thousands of people are talking, maybe they're shocked by the vid but who cares, if they talk about it, people will watch it too to see what it is about and then, people could understand more why they don't have to understand but just accept. Why do you love her ? → I don't know I just love her. (This is how straight could speak right ?) Why do you love him ? (To a gay men could come with :) It's digsuting or abnormal. For me : why do you love him ? (To a gay men) → I don't know I just love him. → WISH YOU HAPPINESS ! Wishing happiness for everyone no matter his color, religion or sexual tastes, that's what should rule the world. Thank you HeeChul for your videos that make people think a little more about issues in society.

Just for their information: the way you walk, if you wear makeup or not, if your voice is more like a girl or like a boy, if you wear more accesories than others, IT DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU ARE HOMOSEXUAL OR HETEROSEXUAL you can be a boy wearing makeup and be heterosexual.
This is such an important video, and I truly hope the Korean public becomes much more accepting soon. Just because you pretend something you don’t like isn’t there, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

0:35 I think I followed his channel and he is really open about being guy, he's cool!
Luke Williams he is so vocal about gay life and being gay in Korea
+raheka gusti but heechul is not gay right ?
no idea :D
Very well produced this video! I liked it a lot :)
I hope gay people in Korea have more and more space and freedom!

Great video! This guy with the cap is so sweet and cute^^ Thank you for your interview~
ahh i love how open-minded you are! it's honestly lovely seeing more and more open-minded people in korea, and i hope it becomes the norm to accept gay people there soon :)
That's right! Be happy and do not worry about people's opinions!
You are wonderful and I wish you all the best♡
I love that this channel is doing these kinds of videos and I hope Korean and the world become more open
And I'm also a fujoshi and proud!
nice to see that they are just being themselves even if that was the harder option
Keep it up Heechul, this UA-cam channel is a fantastic idea and brings much light to a wide variety of topics :)
And like everyone else, I can only compliment how you're not afraid to ask any question, but at the same time are always polite.
I'm already looking forward to the next topic :)
If you interview me , I ask you to date me instead answering your question 😂😂❤️❤️❤️
He's handsome XD
Imhereforyoubby I hope you a black people to say N word like that
Imhereforyoubby yup we're gay. So what's the deal
Even though this is a funny comment, it would probably make him uncomfortable being hit on by a man. He wouldn't show it but you'd lowkey be able to tell even if he laughed it off.
for me there's no such thing as gaydar. it is the same as saying that gays look only a certain way, which is not true.
Thank you
2:54 EYELINER? BOI YOU LITERALLY SAID EVERY KPOP IDOL IS GAY
WERE IS MY WATTPAD LEMME WRITE SOME GAY SHIPS FICS
Lol
Mσиαєgι X. 신호석 kpop boy is kind of exception, cause all performers are wearing make up to look good in camera. When he said "guys with eyeliner" it refers to normal people, not idols or actors
Chloedia Lye I know, I was being ironic. I'm a kpop fan.
Mσиαєgι X. 신호석 im a kpop fan too
Chloedia Lye Cool! What's your UG?
so glad to know there are Hero in Korea 😊😊 We love you and will always support you
Taekook in your profile pic though....so cute 😍
I loved this so much. I think videos like this are very important and encourage an important conversation. ❤️
Wow, the amount of stereotypes about gay people - wear eyeliner and have a pouch... Also, girl and boy roles in bed? I knew Korea was stuck in the past, but I thought they were living it out in 1930s not fucking 1459...
Thanks for doing this set of interviews and sharing it all! Very interesting to see how things work in different countries and cultures.
awesome !!
i love how the guy in the solid green t-shirt is really open and chill about everything
idk but i think Luke is kinda cute :3
i'm a straight-girl tho xD
i support you^^ it's okay to be yourself^^
Henlo
Can you add a link to their UA-cams in the bio.
Yes i would love to follow too
Never mind found them already you just need to type in Korean gay then look at the channels you'll find them by looking at the picture
one of them is Luke Williams so just search his name
+jwslee did you find the guy in the green Vneck???
+SpenceKpop He commented down below! His UA-cam channel is Yeol Lee (TWOTEN) !
This might be the first Asian channel I subscribe.
what a great, frank and genuine video. thanks for your work
I don't really like the interview but I think it's really important to talk more about homosexuality mostly in Korean where people are...not very (or not at all) open minded about this.
(This is how straight could speak right ?)
Why do you love him ? (To a gay men could come with :) It's digsuting or abnormal.
For me : why do you love him ? (To a gay men) → I don't know I just love him. → WISH YOU HAPPINESS !
Wishing happiness for everyone no matter his color, religion or sexual tastes, that's what should rule the world.
Thank you HeeChul for your videos that make people think a little more about issues in society.
Lolll I can't believe he is asking all the question that I have in mind 😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅☺☺☺☺😊😊😊😄😄 lord have mercy I feel shy for them 😍
Great video...people that just follow others, that’s a scary societal problem. But it’s just about everywhere.
Also, the guy in the adidas T-shirt (with Nike cap) is super cute😍
I really love watching this video. And the way the interviewer discussed with them is so frankly, he can tell every main point.
해찬's wife Thank you !
This is such an important video, and I truly hope the Korean public becomes much more accepting soon. Just because you pretend something you don’t like isn’t there, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
THE HOST IS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD I AM BLUSHING
I LOVE IT WHEN THE LOVELY GUY SPEAKS ENGLISH OH MY GOD SO ADORABLE! KEEP GOING MY MAN
That's great :) In a country that even heterosexual couples can be scolded by older people if they kiss in the street...
Im gay so what??!!! I love that statement. No one personal life is affecting your life, kids, family, or money. Everyone deserves to be happy!! Use my slogan, MIND YOUR BUSINESS!!! People tend to walk away mad as hell when i tell them to mind their business!!
okay but one thing
Jikook is not real they are straight
and ships are dumb bye
Abigail Moer exactly!! And for this person to assume my reasoning for shipping just proves to me this person is a child or has childlike behaviors. But I’m sure my comment above should rectify their response.
0:56 어떻게 그렇게 귀여울 수 있겠습니까! he's so adorable i want to protect him!
As i come to know more of gays coming out in Korea,i feel more lightened by now,as in the previous years it was so much kind of being suppressed by public and medias.Thank you so much host for bringing up such idea and airing here.Looking forward to see more of such issues being discussed openly out here through you. With sincere love and appreciation from Bhutan...
Thank you for making this video. This is giving me hope to be who I am when I finally visit Korea.
I think the guy in green has a crush on you lol
Luke Williams Oh Hi Luke u seem like a nice person
Alaa Mansour yups, luke looks like hocheol from boys24. its maybe because their lips are similar, at least imo
Chloedia Lye Maybe~
Hope those gay boys don't give a shit about all those stupid comments.
Thank you so much for this video 💖
+Heechulism
+Tweii kimare She said that she enjoyed this interview and that she wanted to see an interview with lesbians but then he heechul said there was already one that he made and she thanked him. :)
I know it's hard, even in 2019, for korean gay men and I really hope this is going to change. To all of you reading this, straight or not you deserve to be respected and loved 🤗🤗
In fact, I was already following you but I started to watch more from the world tour videos. Documentary-style videos are also great. I think I started to follow you first because of the language related videos. Very nice content congratulations and thank you Heechul! 😊
I support them from Japan
I really hope more and more LGBT group can come out in Korea. Fighting!
Wow! I'm Brazilian, thanks for the video.
FOLLOWED THIS CHANNEL RN
so now I 2 Heechul's that I like! 😍 and a lot of idols are gay in Korea. it's sad to see them hide in the closet 😟
Idols also gay??? May i know whos that idols?
+Suffiah Mokhtar They're just making assumptions. Also based on statistics a few idols have to be gay.
+TheTitaniaOfAnime have to be a gay????? It is a must ? 😱😱😱 maybe you know who is the idols that are gay??
+Suffiah Mokhtar idk how to prove it to you but many idols are gay and can't come out
+Henna Shaikh omg i cant believe it some idols are gay ! 😱 bcs well you know alot of cute/beautiful girls group but its unbelievable they are gay. I keep searching in youtube if some videos show they are gay but its hard to find. Well do you know whos the idols that are gay??
This is one of the most amazing videos I saw!
When you saw them smiling while saying "yes,im a gay" like wooow theyre sooo brave😲💕
