Fist Power why don't you practice by taking to sats connected by docking port into space and then separate them and then reconnect them and repeat by increasing the distance every time
Make orbit one perfectly cicular. That means if it says altitude 100km it should say that for the entire orbit. Then make orbit two match orbit one. Then comes rendevue. To make orbit two speed increase, pick a point, north south east or west. And contract it by 1 or 2 kilometers altitude. To make its speef decrease, expand the same point. Only working with that one point. And using fast forward accordingly. Tediously. Painstainkingly. Persistently. Then, and only then, when you can no longer tell if object two is ahead or behind of object one, and their orbits (altitudes all around) are identicle, switch the view mode. Zoom out. And you will see two white dots of your two objects. Then take it from there. Simly propell one object to the other in real time, directly, and forget completely about their orbits. Making the orbits circular will reduce variation in speed between the two objects as they traverse their orbits. Because of a small inevitable difference in orbits one will appear in real view to circle the other. As they drift apart because of differences in overall altitiude the radius that the one circles the other will increase. So if the orbits are elliptical the way the one circles the other will be like a the way barbed wire is spunor the way you scribble running circles. If they are circular orbits then the one will circoe the other more continuously only either getting bigger or smaller radius depending on how far apart they are getting.
Fist Power But thats so simple. If you have RCS thrusters you switch them on and use the directional arrows. Maybe work with one arrow at a time. First aligning the x axis then the y axis. Also try making the orbits as circular as possible and see if its easier to control when going to dock
