Cristy Reacts...she was really good in the beginning, but now I feel like she just wants to quit her job to get paid for being pretty.

Jackie Jr's death brings to mind what Patsy told Gloria last episode: it won't be cinematic.
Meadow was obviously struggling with what happened. She knows her father probably had something to do with it. Even though she felt a need to defend her dad when Jackie's sister accused him, it still clearly kept eating away at her. Then while drunk, she lashed out against this "beautiful moment" they were having while Jackie lays dead.

I remember reading once that the singing in multiple languages at the end was supposed to represent how despite being of Italian ancestry, most of the people in that room had no idea what Junior was singing about. It was essentially the same as listening to the song in any other language that isn't English.

One of the best season finales in tv history for me. Subtle. The vodka pours by Meadow and Jackie's sister are legendary. Closing with Dominic Chianese who really can sing, chef's kiss.93 years strong

100%!!! Some people feel that it's not a good finale. They want more action. 🤮 I'm not sure this show is for them. They may like it, but will not truly appreciate it.

The end in different languages was meant to convey that the grief is universal and we can understand that regardless of the language

@@N394-l1f Tony realizes his temper cannot be controlled because at the core it is what makes him who he is and defines him. This is the precise moment he accepts his fate to come and the way he is willing to go out by. Awesome Outro My second favorite is the end of S#2 Through and through by the Stones but sung by Keith Richards.

The first song Junior was singing at the table with the guitarist was “Mala Femmena”. The subtitles during the main song were incorrect. Whenever the title of the song came ‘round, the subtitle indicates “Cuore ingrato”. Although this is the equivalent ‘correct’ Italian, the song is Neopolitan dialect; therefore, in the original, correct Neapolitan dialect it’s “Core ‘ngrato”.

to be fair, it’s new jersey, there’s a million tonys, stevies, paulies, jackies, jimmys, mikeys, etc and anyway they already know to begin with anyway…
and we find out sil’s middle name lol and gabi’s looking badass, and “we don’t run in this family” and immediately after, 🏃🏼💨😂 and also tony’s face like “wtf is my life? 🤨” 😂
and that’s the public story, “brush up against organised crime” but go Mead!
fun fact, before he was a big name, he used to sing to make money to get by, and he’s even better at this point&now (:
And like someone said, “it’s showcasing a positive communal experience of a tight-knit group that protects its cultural heritage, and by fading in the other songs it’s pushing us to imagine the same scene taking place around the world within any of those other communities, and how that kind of warmth and cultural pride is universal. It’s basically saying scenes like this aren’t just about Italian heritage, but about the concept of heritage itself”

  • @BlueShadow777
    @BlueShadow777 5 місяців тому +2

The singing in different languages at the end signifies the ingrained hypocrisy. Most of them don’t understand a word of what’s being sung and yet they are fooling themselves into understanding what’s behind the emotion of the song. Although their bloodline may be Italian, they’re - in effect - American (2nd or more generation) ‘wannabe’ Italians, most not even speaking the language. They could be listening to anything, in any language. I believe that was the point of the conclusion of the scene.

Because this show uses a lot of dream sequences & flashback scenes... you can never predict if a character’s storyline is finished. Even dead characters can make a return & give more details about their story. Gloria may return. Tracee... even Big P or Mikey or anyone can comeback with more to add. Be patient. No character can be permanently written off in this show.

It's really cold when you think about it. Despite Jackie Jr throwing his life away, Tony essentially ordered the hit of his best friend's kid through ralph.
This show also has a very realistic element to it, from Jackie Jr's death to Johnny Sack's questionable loyalty. Jackie's death wasn't cinematic. Everyone in that group having concerns with each other and badmouting them despite claiming they're all friends.

I liked how this episode really focused on the children*
Jacki Jr. was an A-Hole but consider his father's influence. His dad was a Mafia boss who did terrible things, yet everyone loved him. Growing up, the Mafia life looked glamorous to Jackie Jr., so of course he was drawn to it. After his father died, his next role model was Ralphie, giving Jackie Jr. little chance to avoid a terrible fate.
Now look at the Soprano kids. When Tony said, "He thinks the world owes him a living," and Carmela replied, "What could have given him that idea?"-that was Spot On! Tony is a complete hypocrite. He says one thing and does another, acting without facing any consequences, and he doesn’t teach AJ any different. Carmela is no better. She’s teaching Meadow to justify the Mafia lifestyle. Meadow was right when she said the Mafia was somehow responsible for Jackie’s death. Carmela knows it’s true, yet she still plays the "Italian Bogeyman" card. Later, we see Meadow doing the same with Jackie’s sister.
Who knows, it’s only season 4. Maybe AJ will grow up to be a responsible adult who takes accountability for his actions, and Meadow might completely leave the Mafia life behind 🤷‍♂️

I repeat myself I know, but Johnny Sack might seem like a plotter and a schemer, and a spider in the web, but he really isn't. He just tells people what he thinks they want to hear, to feel important and to be seen like an important, knowledgeable, smart person. Sometimes it works, sometimes...it doesn't. His dealings with Ralphie and Tony, telling either side different stories shows the limitations of his approach to problem solving, so to speak! ;)
These people are all toxic, they say someone is their friend, and then in the next breath they badmouth them. There's no genuine loyalty between anyone. Well, somewhat an exception to this, Paulie really is genuine old school (one of a dying breed), but his antisocial pathology makes him torn between his loyalty towards Tony and his own innate enormous greed, which creates great tensions.
Paulie will have a great arch this coming season and I think you guys will enjoy it a lot. Tony Sirico is (was... RIP...) such a gifted actor.
Always looking forward to these episode drops btw - keep it up! :D

@@carlogiurizzato2441 I haven't listened to any podcasts or such so I can't comment on that, I just go with what I see evident from the show. It's hard to be too specific here because of future episodes and spoilers, but there's a certain set of scenes coming up that I think supports my take on Johnny. I mean, he may be smart, he is Carmine's number two after all, but he has a bit of a blabbermouth going I would say. :)

Jackie's murder, Meadow's conflict with what her father does and has done, Janice cozying up to Ralphie, Adriana's "new best friend", Paulie and Johnny possibly scheming against Tony, AJ not being able to be "saved" from The Life: all these potential storms brewing, with not one of those people realizing they might be next. All completely oblivious and some even enjoying themselves. At the funeral of a young man who was murdered because being a mobster was all he ever wanted.
      That's a finale! 👏👏👏
