20th Engineer Brigade (ABN), Pope AFB, and C-130's...great memories.

I bought a Zvezda C-130J-30 yesterday in Germany. It was the last in stock. Because the terrible Ukrainian Russian war and the sanctions this is probably one of the last available. I also purchased details by Eduard. Looking forward to start with this kit.

Hi Bear, I maintained C-130's in the USAF at Pope AFB in the US in the 70's and have been waiting for this kit to be released for some time. I managed to get one in my hands and am looking forward to the build.
    Very nice review!

Good and comprehensive review of the kit with your first assessment of the parts.
Looks like good fitt and well detailed parts. A large model even on a small scale!
    Best wishes, Mark. Joachim

As an ex RAF Hercules guy I am in the process of building this model. Just finished the flight. deck Decals 4,5,6,8,910 are shown on the plans incorrectly, turn them through 90 degrees with the black rectangle at the top. these are the aircraft circuit breakers and BUS bars.

That is one big model, but remember, a herky-bird is not just for Christmas but for boxing day as well!

I received my model from Jadlam Models at a reasonable price, first impressions for me is that it is a very nice kit, with crisp panel lines, the plastic is also very nice, better than Airfix's soft plastic they use, there is also loads of detail that can be added inside if required if you are having the ramp down, the only negative bits is that the large decal sheet has no backing paper, and it was stuck a little bit to the colour chart brochure, also I noticed on the main lower wings some warpage but that might just be my kit, overall though a brilliant kit and have seen positive reviews on line and else where, I think we will see loads of versions to the Hercules from Zvezda next year

I'm hopeful that they plan on bringing out a J version and with the removal of interior parts shortening them would suggest the possibility of a J-30 or H-30 with stretched fuselage which would be awesome as no other kit manufacturer has attempted this in the past!

@@TheBearScaleModels Awesome news then, I may wait to do a stretched version

I had the Airfix Hercules kit but upgraded to the Italeri 1 because it was a much better shape but still has the raised panel lines. So purchased this Zvezda 1 which arrived a month ago & is a much more detailed kit. I'm still deciding? on the RAF dark earth, light sand & black scheme or the RNZAF white, blue stripe & aluminum scheme which I have both aftermarket decals for.
