The Story of the Youngest Hacker in Rocket League
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- This is the untold story of how the youngest freestyler in Rocket League became the most hated modder in the game. In this video I recount the complicated and controversial history of Crunchy, a player who quickly went from playing with Musty as 12 year old freestyler , to being removed from the BakkesMod Community and banned by Psyonix.

For a 12 yr old, already learning C++ and being able to identify exploits... This is ridiculous. Extremely gifted kid
😮
"identifying" exploits is not anything impressive? The fact he fully programmed a mod for Rocket League with features no one else has though? That is pretty crazy
They should hire this kid
i'm 14 and have trouble learning coding LMAO this dude is gifted
@@lemon66111 I'm 12 and I am very good with C++
Damn that's actually really impressive! Great skills at both RL and programming and also many connections already (even if some are tainted with a bad image). If he matures and puts his skills into good use then I'm going to be really happy for him.
Bro I put this on to eat my dinner to and the genuine confusion on my face hearing my name in the first 20 seconds. Great video dude! Love the video essay / story of type vids
So you're telling me this guy is 12, is a FS god, and a coding/exploiting/hacking genius? Man where did I go wrong
He be crunching that code.
Crunchy actually creates more and new things in one day, than what psyonix does in a decade
Fax, Banned only for making the real devs look like a bunch of 5 year olds that haven’t learned any programming language yet but rather just replace texturefiles for a living (bc that’s what generates revenue in the game)
What a freaking wild video, I didn't expect crunchy to be the hacker offering linkuru the 3-wheeled octane.
He’s not a hacker, he’s a modder
@@boomshacalakaguy8334 He's not a modder he's a script kiddie, he does nothing himself, he just downloads what others have done.
My friend is about to turn 13 and hit grand champ and has stayed there consistently. It's insane how good people are at this game and how much skill they have
Bruh... This kid is like the unsnug hero of good guy hackers. It sounds like he was actually tallented and just wanted to have fun doing his own thing that prevented psynoix (Epic Games) from taking as much money from people as they possibly could.
Crunchy is just a big genius to bypass everything so thats just worlds youngest coder/hacker/freestyler
Dark kind of shatters the previous notion of crazy rl players being 12
Just say they're 8 until the next SSL prodigy drops lmao
I spoke to Cruncy not to long ago on vc. He's stil doing this and now has a deep voice. It took me a while to figure out it was him because I didn't know about the freestyling part. I thought it was 2 different persons until you started talking about the hacks.
That kid legit knows the game better than every pro combined :)
Bro is a freestyler and a coder, he might build a really cool career in the future, meanwhile me a 15 year old not knowing anything, that's funny
for somebody that young, if they aren't doing any harm then I find it okay, if he gives it to others so then they can put sketchy stuff in trade and to scam people, then that isn't okay.
Love how Psyonix actually added 3 wheel gamemode.
Bro is like Albert Einstein in rl. I think he has a lot of wonders yet to be discovered
With that kind of passion, kid can archieve fucking great things if he focus correctly.
Bro can mod and freestyle actually cracked ngl
Honestly c++ is up there when it comes to the hardest, still relevant programming languages to learn. No clue how a kid could have the intellect and patience to learn it.
bruh if this kid really made all that, then he is an absolute genius
Mom look, my face made it into a Rocket Sledge video! I’m famous! 😅
Close competition between you and Pickapixel for "RL's most famous face!" Can I make an suggestion to win the battle? Try a thumbnail where you use your face *multiple times*.
Actually that's a decent gimmicky video idea: "can I beat myself in a crate war"? Record one set of openings and then another so you technically play your self. Even better if you write some banter/dialog so you trash talk each other through the video. Get people to root for Coral Coke A or B. Alternately make one of them an evil version of yourself....Coral Pepsi.
@@Rocket_Sledge I’m way ahead of you man! Check this out! 😂 I gotta do it again some time!
ua-cam.com/video/u8-OBfiH_8Q/v-deo.html
@@CoralCoke ah, here I thought I had original ideas 🙃
This was such a good video, I love this type of content!
Thank you so much!!
So do you still get banned for using crunchys mod or is it allowed now?
they should add everthing in this video to bakkes mod exept ofc spawning in items , you should be able to make ur car change color ingame and have any titles but only for u to see
0:44 his car and the ball are doing sort weird stuff like twitching and doing weird movements, already seems suspicious.
That has to be the most advanced script kid, holy crap
bruh i cant even use pointers properly
what a talent
It's impressive what he has achieved.
funny thing is i watched the bot videos, musty's horse video and also wanted to buy the mod, without realizing a random kid was behind all of that XD
AYO THATS ME 9:26
I remember playing against him after seeing the first video on this channel. Kid is absolutely insane at the game.
And,
Apparently extremely smart outside of it too. Hoped he can use his brain for good and not end up in the wrong place at the wrong time down the road.
When I was 11 I hit triple resets and I just turned 12 and I play on xbox
HIS TITLE BAHAHAH 9:46
if a 13 year old can do it then that means there were already some people who were capable of finding the cheats he found, they just needed to look harder
It sounds like when he’s old enough phsonix should hire him
He's impressive for being able to do stuff he shouldn't at his age
intelligent kid. should put his skills into earning money, not a reputation on rocket league
I’m 11 and I can do a triple reset, fastest ground pitch is 201kph, and creative freestyle I hope this can get recognized
So that’s the guy I got voltage mod from I didn’t even know
Any kid thats starting to code at really young age will be succesful in the future if they wont ever stop coding... I know a guy who has been coding since 7yo and recently he got his first job as a fullstack dev at age of 17 with pretty fine salary for starting position, but now imagine where he will be after 3 years at age 21/20
Idk, it looks like im one of the few with this opinion, but: I personally think we should expell these kinds of coders or at least not feature them in ANY kind of video. Expell obviously just means to not work with them, as they themselfs can just make accounts and use them. I see huge harm in displaying these hacks and exploits. First of: it encourages people to do it more. And second and the more important part: Im VERY afraid of the game losing its integrity. If there is 1 thing I dont want to happen, then it is people getting more educated about how to exploit, hack or get in contact with people that are able to do it.
And while I dont know crunchy, I personally dont think you cant blindly trust people and its almost impossible to know what people do behind the scenes. Pretty hard to tell who uses this for scams for example. So my opinion is and will be: Dont promote this content and stay away from it. Even if the chances are not too high, the integrity of they game could be at risk.
So my kid is 11 and he is in diamond. He plays pretty well. Here I thought he might have been a child RL prodigy lol I guess not! We still have fun playing though!
teach him how to code
@yvngxenvy learn how to code has been added to my to do list
leth also used the 3 wheeled car in private match
That happened after this video came out...coincidence?
i was exploiting in roblox at 11 years ol d and got banned once lol
well honestly, as long as he isnt effecting gameplay i think hes an amazing and really smart kid.
This crunchy guy is a fucking genius and deserves a lot more attention and praise, just imagine the things he can do outside of rocket league, horrible video sledge🙏❤
LOL you watched and enjoyed sledge content.
I would want this kid to keep going and playing around but just tone down the hacks a little more
I’m Confused, so is his mod ban able or not?
Wait they lifted the ban? I've been playing without bakkas since i got ban lol.
And it's not exactly hacking it's exploiting or modding hacking is a whole other thing and takes years to learn I know people who have been actually hacking for 10 or more years and they even say that's just the beginning so it takes tons of time to learn this is more of a form of exploiting game code to your advantage
I have respect for crunchy on becoming youngest hacker. But I'm also sad that this talent went on to also become the youngest cheater.
Tbh its sad that he only like what 13 and swearing and scamming its just sad...
holy shit I don't know If I should be congratulating him or being dissapointed in him. HE IS FUCKING TALENTED. JESUS CHRIST HE KNOWS C++ AT 11 LIKE WHAT THE FUCK
grow the hell up
Wow learning to code at 12 instead of scrolling through tiktok.
i wanna know what is the name of the mod?
they should just hire him
im 11 and cant do that but i can do arial shots and saves and kuxir pinch 100-150 kph 1 i got 234 but not in goal it hit celling 2,5 times
how do I donwload crunchys mod?
Where is he now? And does he have UA-cam channel or discord server?
nah hes gay
@@yvngxenvy💀
He has a discord server where he sells the mod still. He just got a cease and desist letter from Epic Games and everyone who bought the mod is getting banned. I havent even used the mod in over a year but he started selling serverside mods so now everyone is cucked
@@SlinkShad can I have he’s discord please
I am also 11-year-old freestyler but can't do it that clean and well xd
I also started at 9 years old and know java, CSS, and HTML
but this guy is like 3x better than me at all 2 of those things lol
Can I be in a video?
can someone tell me why he got banned from linkurus dc?
He was 11, Discord TOS requires you to be 13.
I mean it may be bad but sounds cool af ngl
I see Sledge story time. I click
Yoo sledge i know a 14 year old ssl he is in my class
oh cool. I'm not really up to date on SSL ages, is that young or common?
I just turned 13 i am c3 atm i have around 900 hours on rl but i am KBM
Crunchy is KBM too!
@@Rocket_Sledge then thats just impressive xD
extremly gifted but doesnt know how to use it in the right way (ADHD in a nutshell) but he turned from a kid to highschooler trying to be "cool" (if you know what i mean)
i don't know how difficult modding/hacking in rl really is, but an 11yo (13 by now?) kid teaching themselves c++ and doing all this is *extremely* impressive. i feel like this kid can go very far.
this video has a bit of the "black hat and then got a six-figure security job"-vibe
She's 14 actually.
@@alexybaddie stop missing the point, hes still young
@@WaraxBestGR I mean, to be fair, Obit explicitly asked "13 by now?" in their comment, so the response that Crunchy is 14 is perfectly valid.
The thing people don't understand about BM is that it gives you a layer where you don't have to know C++ to use. Everything is already coded.
I don't believe an 11 year old would teach themselves c++ and learn RL modding especially at an early time in the scene, either he used a higher lvl API that BM provides or he got someone else to do it and framed it as his. I don't think he discovered any server side hacks, as that requires knowledge about severside exploits and hacking, either this kid is a global prodigy or theres a deeper story to it. In the off chance the mod really was his, I reckon he yoinked code from other mods and collated it.
What a genius kid. I'm sure he has a bright future, I hope he cleans up his act
cleans up his act? lmao his mod voltage has made ATLEAST $30000 and he's only 14, voltage mod will probably be on his resume
lmao, what did he do?
@@shuaibthesensei4553 exactly the only wrong thing I see here is impersonation but other than that it's all harmless and cool 😂
@@IN-pr3lw gotchu
I thought this video would probably be about how he somehow faked his freestyles. Instead, it turns out that he is not only a ridiculously talented freestyler he is a ridiculously talented programmer and hacker.
Of course he deserves praise! This kid is obviously brilliant! In all honesty the coding skills he is developing will probably serve him better in life than any amount of freestyle abilities.
I don't think he is actually causing psyonix any measurable amount of trouble, and if he is, they just need to read page one of the corporate how to deal with brilliant hackers handbook.
Hire him as a pressure tester, pay him very well, and put his skills to work for you instead of against you.
I remember watching a video about someone who learned to cheat / hack / bot in runescape. He spent years mass farm botting and making decent money irl from it, but in the interview documentary he says he wished he would have stopped a lot sooner and focused on the coding aspect rather than the botitng/playing of the game, and focused on education and getting a real job that set him up for the rest of his life instead of farming billions of gp.
Im hoping this kid doesn't end up the same way. Forget the games unless you have spare free time to relax and focus on your education, you could actually be something decent crunchy.
@@OsrsNooby hes made roughly $50k from his bakkes mod addon
@@GradyOng 50k is less than a years salary for some, and how many years has he been working on that addon?
@@OsrsNoobyhe is 13 tho lol

What does that change about what I said.
This kid is everywhere. Top tier mechanics with a brain bigger than leths. If he can stay out of trouble dudes goings places
I don't think he has a bad reputation, this is outright impressive, the fact that he knows he did wrong and is trying to improve, good for him
it took me 4 minutes to realize who crunchy is. Holy cow I didn't know he was 12, I actually know who crunchy is and I even talked to him once about when I found out how to make server side items. yeah i'm glad he's banned because he was taking advantage of other people desperetly wanting to do what he was doing.

what in the prodigy... this kid is actually insanely talented, he could have an insanely bright future or be some sort of criminal master, up to him lol
I was in a call with Crunchy as well during that picture at minute 6:09. (I was not someone in the picture btw) They were using this item plugin and It was actually crazy how he managed to do it. Crunchy is a very smart kid and honestly, did alot of things for fun and as a challenge. Never did he have any bad intentions even though some things were very sketchy lol, I havent talked to him in a while so idk what he is up 2 now.
ya me n him were homies too, i even had the plugin lol
Bet he is waiting for a job offer from Rocket League. Great video, thanks man!
Doubt they'd ever think to hire him given the context in this video.
@@ZUnknownFox fair but he COULD be an asset
@@PlantDaddyGaming not really, most of things he claimed to be server sided werent and are pretty easy to do
Not gonna lie, some of his hacks were pretty good and entertaining.
I JUST WANT RAINBOW FREEPLAY IBSR
Damn. "Tales of my misspent youth" with some very good job options in his future if he chooses to go white hat with his skills. If he stays gray hat or especially if he goes black hat... well let's hope he doesn't.
He's just coding C++, he's not a hacker my guy
@@primecurbside3525 Injecting code into a program that changes the intended behavior of the original program - particularly in ways that goes against the developer's behavior - is indeed a form of hacking. It also affected the inventory of the owner in an online game - part of a database of sorts.
It's not just a clickbait title on Sledge's part. It's not exactly hacking a company for personal data, but it is indeed hacking.
@@girhen That's modding, my guy.
Hacking is gaining unauthorised access to a computer or system. Not injecting a DLL into a game.
@@LukeSaward In the game world, modding is usually recognized as authorized or at least non-malicious changes, whereas we still use the word hacking for more malicious uses. It's well understood, there's no reason to start getting all nitty gritty...
Particularly when the video contains a segment where he IS modifying a system - he doesn't just change his inventory on his computer, he gets around a paywall for items to get them for free. That pretty well fits the description of breaking into the system.
Modding is probably the start for a lot of hackers. I'm a codemonkey these days, and guess what my start was. Battlefield 1942 modding. I have known a few people who DID get in trouble for hacking by your definition, and guess where they started. Modding. There's a huge overlap in the modding, programming, and hacking communities. It's not like the skillset is vastly different, just more refined and targeted.
Psyonix should hire this guy, it’s everything they are missing in the developement right now
Someone with the skills to test advanced mechanics , someone who makes new QoL features , someone who gives us new features instead of just new skins, and someone who actually tests the game for bugs.
Except the fact that he is ynow. 12
Yea laws exist tho
@@moltengears7483 He's older now and can receive an internship
@@moltengears7483 honestly it shouldn't even matter in today's world. There are millionaire 10 year olds making their own income off streaming.
Crunchy is definitely pushing the limits sometimes. However, making exploits known is incredibly important, and it's better if someone without inherently malicious intent is doing it, even if that someone isn't the most discreet about it. But, that doesn't exempt a person from their personal responsibility, and I think proper actions have been taken. It's clear that this kid has lots of potential though!
he could of definitely used it for bad, by scamming for lots of credits with his server side items etc. He could have made a lot of money too, but he didn't. So he wasn't actually bad. Doing what I just said is.
Only people who saw "femboys are cute" at the end can like
lool thanks for pointing that out
@crunchy 🤣🤭🥵
yoooooooooooo shoutout to my based man crunchy
also guess who's in the middle in this screenshot 6:06, it's ya boy lmaooo
[btw I've seen a bit behind the scenes and frankly it almost makes me scared to even open RL with how utterly moronic the codebase is, the only way I can describe it is if in 2015 everyone was spontaneously fired and replaced with people without any dev experience to speak]
Lmao banned
I am on Crunchy side
Okay he 13 now but why tf is his Title Femboys are cute like bro we gotta get him outta that Bubble
Glad your Bakkes issue got fixed. While it would take far too much money to truly fight it, I have no doubt even Psyonix's TOS wouldn't actually prohibit what you did showing off the game files via a mod for one of your videos. I've seen enough of them (including this one right here) that would easily pass muster for "news reporting" and honestly, how is what you did any different than the reporters who go deep with drug cartels to report a story, blurring out folks' faces as they very clearly do illegal activities in front of the camera?
You don't have to be CNN or Kotaku to be a reporter! Keep up the awesome videos on the strangest Rocket League topics!
Thank you!
Learning to code at 11, sure, I did it. But exploits? Like not client-side exploits but server-side exploits? That's difficult stuff. You'd need to fully understand the way rocket league handles things both client-side and server-side. That can give you a few headaches with the source code, let alone uncompiled code.
I did dll injection for my own purposes on an app I use, but that was a slight change in behavior and it still took me 12 hours. Can't imagine how much time that kid spent on rl, that's honestly impressive. I don't think it should be a permanent ban. If I was psionyx, I'd be looking into hiring him as soon as he is of age, at this point he might end up being perfect for a security / technical QA role.
glazer
fun fact, the kid did not alone code the spawning in items thing, was not his own code lol it was a source you could buy. Respect for him finding it, but this kid couldnt code for crap. Been in a vc with him streaming in viusal studio and his C++ coding is pretty crap.
he is 12 pulling this off that deserves praise even if it is "bad"
it feels illegal to be this early
dudes going places mad respect, when push comes to shove he was really only messing with a video game, props to him honestly, not necessarily for his accomplishments but for what he has accomplished
Psyonix, just get this kid to program RL in UE5 pls. I bet he is better that 50% of their programers
I started playing when I was 6, and with 7 years of experience, I'm just almost Champ. I do think it's surprising someone of my age level could achieve such skills as a cheater. I really don't care that he cheated, I'm just shocked at the mere fact he accomplished it. It's very impressive.
Imagine if he started White Hatting? He would accomplish so much.
bro what. I talked to Crunchy a long time ago when I was still doing custom car mods. he helped me sort some of it out
is there a way to get ur own tag without everyone else seeing?
Nah the video ended with my highest praise to crunchy dudes a genius for his age group. And you gotta think how hard is psyonix’s job rlly to give us cool cosmetics year round but they don’t they deliver absolute garbage cosmetics
bro me and crunchy used to play all the time
Wait wtf I thought he would be hacking freestyles that's crazy
From knowing and being friends with Crunchy in my time playing and interacting with the rl community... the dude never failed to impress. It was so cool to see what he did and learn about his life and even the little messages of him being excited to show off how he fixed a bug in his coding. Crunchy if you see this ily
been in call with him before lol hes a nice guy but from vold n shit and all the money hes made theres so much miss info in this video
