anyone watching this in 2020 and hoping that they will get back together
the fact they were broken up when this was filmed, but you can tell they still love each other so much
you can clearly see how much they still loved each other, especially Ian loved Nina more than anything. Nina was trying to act normal but you can see that even after they broke up, Nina had still a lot of tention when he was touching her or even talking to her. I have no idea why these two broke up, and I will never understand why two persons that are in love with each other, need to pretend they are not and keep living with regret and the thought that maybe it could have worked out. I am sure Ian will always regret marrying Niki and breaking up with Nina, and I am sure Nina will always feel a little pain in her heart when she will see Ian. Just like when Damon died and Elena said to Alaric "You know the promise that love could be eternal, well, I had that with Damon, which means that for the rest of my life I'm gonna have a hole in my heart where he's supposed to be". In real life that will always be true for both of them, Nina and Ian.

Also, you notice how even though they were broken up here, he was still so great to her, but once Nikki sank her fangs into him he started being a jerk in interviews. If he really loved Nina, he could have waited it wasn't like she wanted to pull the plug on their relationship. It's 2 years later and now he's married to Nikki and still has no children. Also, if you compare interviews Ian's done with Nina vs. with Nikki he looks more in love with Nina than all interviews combined with Nikki.

This was what? Almost a year after they broke up? Obviously they werent over each other yet he was still in love w nina... thats why he congratulate her for her bday and they were so good together until ian who was desperate to have kids and get married got with this nikki girl (a no one) and she obviously with her jealousy turned this amazing love/friendship into nothing.
