ANNA EVA BERGMAN "REVELATION" AT PERROTIN NEW YORK

The first ever survey exhibition of the late Norwegian-born painter in the United States, ‘Revelation’ highlights Anna-Eva Bergman’s own colorful life and prolific career.
Around 1950, Bergman began to turn a socially conscious eye on the northern landscapes of her native Norway. This stage of Bergman’s career was a laboratory of forms, translating the intangibles of the Norwegian landscape- cliffs, stones, steles-into an archetypal, elementary lexicon. Far more than a simple aesthetic evolution of her own practice, this was Bergman’s attempt to reconceive the universe and reflect on the relationship between humans and the natural world.
