@Robert Simon 100%. Music is like a time machine honestly. I love how it brings people together. I was just a kid living in Western NC getting lost in my headphones not really knowing what the rest of the world was about or where life would take me at that time. Thank you for sharing bro and hope things are going good for you. A little toast to our younger selves, cheers
Still jamming POD in my 30s and I started listening when I was about 12. Got to see them live in concert back in 2013 and it was one of the best shows I had ever been to. The amount of energy they brought to the stage was absolutely unmatched. Can't wait to hear more!
Youngsters don’t realize the impact this man & his band P.O.D. Had on the nu-metal game. Even though I don’t follow any religion, they made it cool for Christian’s to listen to hard rock. Satellite will forever be a classic record.
Sonny is a beast on stage !! 99 % of rap artists couldn’t hold a candle to his live energy ! I’ve Seen POD 3 times and the last time was 2019 in Sacramento and they brought the house down ! Much Respect ! Warrior since ‘99
KUDOS to Adam for this interview. I wasn't the biggest fan of No Jumper at the beginning but Adams interview skills have become top notch. Best interview Sonny has ever been apart of.
I loved this interview. P.O.D. helped me through my teenage years when I didn't know who I was or what I wanted to be. They are definitely been a big part of who I am today in my faith. My husband took me to a show recently solely because he knew I loved them and he left a big fan as well. They are all true to who they are and it shows. Very humble and amazing band.
Arguably Adams Best interview in years! Opposing viewpoints coming together and meshing picture perfectly, held together by a consistent flow of conversation
POD and Linkin Park are still my favorite bands to this day yet I’ve only seen POD live, 3 times. I’ve visited San Diego 3 times because of them and I’ve visited the Tribal store there because of them. Sonny truly has a humble heart and a great example for the rest of us that grew up in the church system.
I've never watched your show before.Tonight I watched every minute of it! POD is in my heart!! I seen them live in 99 in Lakeland Florida at a weekend festival called livestock. Badass interview man!
Adam, this was awesome. P.O.D. opened the door to metal for me and Sonny made me want to be a front man. I remember listening to T.F.E.O.S. on REPEAT when I was 10 and it completely changed my life. 23 years later, I'm a die hard fan of extreme music, vocalist for a downtempo/beatdown band and a massive record collector. I owe a massive part of that to P.O.D. and Sonny for not only showing ten year old me that heavier music existed but it could become your life. Thank you. Sincerely, thank you.

Man look. Shouts out to No Jumper, but shouts out to the OG Sonny man! I’m not a usual watcher but I looked up an interview with POD and this popped up. I appreciate Sonny for never switching up, and really setting the tone for Christ in music. Never hid the message, never made anyone feel less than, and stayed consistent. Still an example to me, even in my music today. POD is timeless!
Cool interview. "Alive" is a great song. It's ambiguous nature really lends itself to the listener to think about who/what makes you feel alive. For Sonny, that would be his mother. Her spirit and the support of those who care about him, gave him reason to become his best self. The song "Full Color" touches on this topic quite intensely and also fun. I think some demons were being released for sure. Music is medicine for the soul.. Anyone that's only heard the hits should check out any album by them. They are such incredibly gifted people.
I play your songs EVERY TIME I jam out in the garage or truck cause your lyrics and music truly helped/help me after deploying/dealing with whatever and the verse off “Southtown” “Here in the Southtown, hey, you know that kid don't play Put it down in the streets, will I see another day? If I make it back this time, gots to hold what is mine And thank God that I made it alive” gets me every damn time bro and thats just ONE example. I appreciate you and God bless for giving me that path to channel “stuff.” “ One love (one love)”
Man this was 🔥 AF. Sonny influenced multiple generations at this point and some don't even know it. He is a legend deserving of the title! If you've ever seen p.o.d life then you know wtf I'm talking about 💯
1:39:59- haha! You caught yourself there; and Sonny graciously laughs. God has a sense of humor; even when using His name in vein; as long as there's a little bit of humility. Great show brutha. May God bless you with wisdom, knowledge, and an understanding of Him as you live out your days here on earth. Once you see Jesus, you'll never look back; just like Sonny said.
Satellite album was piece of art! I was 16 back then and a nu-metal kid ofc, but the way they fused various styles, it was mindblowing.. thank you for this interview
These guys are cool in person, I got to meet you guys in San Antonio at a skate park in SA 1998. I worked at the Christian skate park with Pastor Bobby and it was a small out side stage but they rocked!
This is such a great interview. The way you’re rolling up and actually deep into this conversation is pretty epic too. POD was always around and always pretty badass. They have some classics for sure. Hopefully this inspires someone from the newer generations
Fun Fact: Katy Perry sang some backup vocals in POD and performed with them for a while actually. AND Fact #2: POD has been awesome for around 25+ years . I've seen them live at least 12-15 times and grew up along side listening to them over the years and they are just ALWAYS true to themselves and play what they want, the don't follow fad's or trends
First saw them at a church skate park in Texas. Long before they broke into the mainstream. The guys even skated with us after they played. Had all kinds of handmade merch that the guys gave out.
Great conversation! Cool to hear from a musician I admire, who truly have been grinding since the beginning. Bands today don’t have such an inspirational come-up.
I came here thinking I was gonna hang out for 10-15 minutes while doing some busy work, now here I am nearly 2 hours later and I’m not mad in the least. Great interview! It’s been a bit but I’m looking forward to hitting up POD’s new songs.
Im still feeling emotional and so fulfilled from their show in september. Hearing Satellite album front to back mixed w other amazing songs including SOUTHTOWN!!??…I still smile thinking about it. So crazy, i grew up in Cali but didnt see them until I moved to the east coast. Legendary band, no question. Good move adam
Awesome interview, the best one I've seen on this channel by far! I know first hand that Sonny is the real deal. Him and I got almost 50 years of history together. If your not familiar with POD, check out their music, its real on every level.
Yo this the best interview with Sonny ive ever seen Adams asked all the questions ive always wanted other interviewers to ask....POD to me was and is one of the most authentic Rap Rock bands because they really come from the streets.
I think for most fans of The NJ Family we can all agree that by inviting more diversity in personalities and backgrounds that it Enriches The No Jumper Culture.
Being 28 years old the fist music I ever bought I was 8 in 2001 and I bout Satellites on cassette tape… Sonny was such a big inspiration to me growing up…
Although I’m older 45 P.O.D was everything I dreamed of ! I grew up listening to hard rock, Gun’s n Roses , metal , some hip-hop , and I was really into Bob Marley at the he time & they combined everything I loved !!
That would be hilarious cus i feel Adam would be the perfect person to get Fred to actually open up n tell good stories. Plus if Adam brought up Fred's awkward ass sex tape thatd be fuckin incredible
one of the better podcasts of this year for no jumper, glad this was archived damn near hearing music for the first time ever was p.o.d. so this pod really spoke to me wish no jumper would carve a space for alternative music given adam22’s dynamic with these actual musicians is amazing suppose the growing pains wouldn’t be worth it but its worth a shot god bless p.o.d. , god bless no jumper
I thought of Youth of a Nation the other day and took me a moment to remember the name of the band which then led me to many songs and other nu metal bands that I love/d and haven't listened to for ages. It's one of my top favourite genres for sure! I'm stoked on this interview.
Saw them in a West Texas coliseum and I anxiously waited for a autograph late after the show. Grew up listening to them when they first started and meeting them was just way too 😎 cool. Thanks Sonny and guys
Damnnnn never thought Sonny would be on the show! Anyone born in the early 90s or before knows how turnt nu metal/rap rock was back in the day with P.O.D

Big ups for this one! P.O.D. was my first favorite band! Sonny has always been cool as fuck and always remains humble. Aways loved that they're from San Diego like myself
It’s pretty interesting how rock is essential in the Mexican identity too but people still think we only listen to music in Spanish. It’s crazy because I grew up on POD and I never knew this guy was Mexican but all the Mexicans around me all listened to rock and it was a giant part of who we were.
Wow, I was not expecting this interview. Kinda weird, 20+ years being a P.O.D fan and somehow I've never heard Sonny's speaking voice. I enjoy him calling out some of his peers around 1:22:34, lol dude has always been mad real, much respect.
Wtf. How did I not see this. I always keep up on NJ and pod and sonny have been apart of my life and huge impact on me for the last 29 years of my life.
Shout out to my California sisters and brothers. The effect this man’s music had on my city of San Diego back in the early 2000’s is legendary. POD, Mixmob, Limb Bizket, Saliva, Korn, Linken Park, 311, TOOL, Incubis, Deftones, and so many other bands are such big parts of my upbringing. God what a time to be alive. 1:34 Combining rap and rock/metal in a tasteful way
2:20 POD kinda had a different sound before Sonny joined, growing up in rock family then drifted his personal interest to reggae
3:34 POD was formed in 1992

1:09:13 The "Boom" video

I play your songs EVERY TIME I jam out in the garage or truck cause your lyrics and music truly helped/help me after deploying/dealing with whatever and the verse off “Southtown”
“Here in the Southtown, hey, you know that kid don't play
Put it down in the streets, will I see another day?
If I make it back this time, gots to hold what is mine
And thank God that I made it alive” gets me every damn time bro and thats just ONE example. I appreciate you and God bless for giving me that path to channel “stuff.” “ One love (one love)”
Adam is getting the best interviews done recently. Angela White, Toby Morse, and now Sonny. Killin it
I would love to see Chino Moreno from Deftones on here!
POD opened for Godsmack in Houston and the crowd was way more hype for them, it was wild!!
Because Godsmack is garbage! Every song is about staying away or keeping away 😜
Godsmack sucks
Well that's a smack in the face.😂
More Nu Metal interviews please !!!!!
Yea bring Mike Shinoda!!
No Jumper .. IF you bring Fred Durst the whole podcast I'm sure would be BOMB full of stories
Agreed. Chino from deftones would be crazy. Jacoby Shaddix or any of the guys from KoRn would be insane too
Josey Scott, taproot, spineshank, alien ant farm, Jon Davis and Corey taylor
Seven dust
Great interview. I would love to see you have Zack de la Rocha on the pod.
That would be sooooooo dope!
Lol, who? ... jk, such a big letdown not hearing from him during this whole freedom destroying pandemic. Rocha 4 life ✌🖖
I would sell my 1st child to see that!
Man this was 🔥 AF. Sonny influenced multiple generations at this point and some don't even know it. He is a legend deserving of the title! If you've ever seen p.o.d life then you know wtf I'm talking about 💯
I still listen to POD bcuz they're sound is a mix of rock and hip hop and rap. Plus Im from San Diego too and been listening to them since the 90's.
P.O.D. used to be my big sister's husband's favorite band. Plenty of cheerful memories with the "Satellite" CD in the car. :)
Absolutely love p.o.d and sonny is an absolute down to earth guy.
He truly is, I met him yesterday.❤
Adam, Thank you so much for this! I enjoyed this interview so much!
Why aren't there more likes for this episode? Payable on Death are true og's. Uplifting and postive. All the respect.
Love P.O.D. and Sonny. Just went on their Satellite 20th Anniversary tour. It was 🔥🙌🏼
Man this guys so humble I hope people really take the time to hear this man out been listening to this band since 2000s
He really is. I met him yesterday.❤
I grew up listening to P.O.D! So awesome to “catch up” with the interview. Gonna be blastin Alive tomorrow for sure!
I love that Adam gives shine to the OG's of all sorts of genres. Payable On Death have been dope for so long! Bravo guys!
SONNY IS A LEGEND!!!
Desde los 15 años siguiendo a P.O.D. siempre en mi ❤ esta gran banda 👏🏻👏🏻
This is such a great interview. The way you’re rolling up and actually deep into this conversation is pretty epic too. POD was always around and always pretty badass. They have some classics for sure. Hopefully this inspires someone from the newer generations
Thank you for this interview. This interview made me realize back in 99 pod will and always be my team. LOVE
West Palm Beach Amphitheater
Hahaha... What about Coral Sky Amphitheater¿ Was you around back back then?
First saw them at a church skate park in Texas. Long before they broke into the mainstream. The guys even skated with us after they played. Had all kinds of handmade merch that the guys gave out.
I feel so alive for the very first time!!
Great conversation! Cool to hear from a musician I admire, who truly have been grinding since the beginning. Bands today don’t have such an inspirational come-up.
Bro, Papoose and Sonny from POD in the same week? The brand is balling!
One the best interviews. I'm s big P.O.D. fan. Go back old school, jams. There the best and always will be Old School. 💯🤘😎🤘💯
Started watching in 2015… never in a million years did I think anyone from P.O.D would ever be interviewed 😂
Awesome interview, the best one I've seen on this channel by far! I know first hand that Sonny is the real deal. Him and I got almost 50 years of history together. If your not familiar with POD, check out their music, its real on every level.
"When did this crowded room get so lonely." Tattooed those lyrics on my arm in my teen years. P.O.D. music helped me through a lot. Praise God.
let you down is one of the best song.

The most informative Sonny interview I’ve ever seen! Great questions and follow up questions.
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
Prayers out for Sonny, his band mates and their loved ones 🕊️
Yo this the best interview with Sonny ive ever seen Adams asked all the questions ive always wanted other interviewers to ask....POD to me was and is one of the most authentic Rap Rock bands because they really come from the streets.
I think for most fans of The NJ Family we can all agree that by inviting more diversity in personalities and backgrounds that it Enriches The No Jumper Culture.
A true legend. Love this content
All the “back in the day” comments.
I still love P.O.D. TODAY…Warrior for life!
This makes me feel old as fuck… POD is now considered “ classic rock”
limp biskit will never be considered classic rock does this help haha
Tru
Pretty anything rock related is classic rock these days.
@@blankabison1331 Naw, not really...
@@mariowalker9048 right lol rock as a genre is an ancient artifact nowadays
It was awesome seeing you live Sonny and meeting you. Your so sweet and humble. ❤
I'm 68 years young, and I CANNOT get enough of POD...from Mt. Helix in San Diego!
POD helped point me to my King: Jesus Christ.
That's awesome.❤
Being 28 years old the fist music I ever bought I was 8 in 2001 and I bout Satellites on cassette tape… Sonny was such a big inspiration to me growing up…
My teen crush Sunny Sandoval ❤️ because of them I got into punk, ska, reggae, rocksteady.
Although I’m older 45 P.O.D was everything I dreamed of ! I grew up listening to hard rock, Gun’s n Roses , metal , some hip-hop , and I was really into Bob Marley at the he time & they combined everything I loved !!
I used to love POD. One of the first CDs I ever had in 4th grade
This is a great conversation. Thank both of you.
Saw p.o.d a few months ago at a festival and it was one of the best sets I’ve ever seen
Been listening since the "Brown" album! Know your history!!!!
You can not get any more authentic than POD and Sonny!!!
Ayo Adam you should totally interview Fred durst that shit would be legendary 🗣💯💯💯
That would be hilarious cus i feel Adam would be the perfect person to get Fred to actually open up n tell good stories. Plus if Adam brought up Fred's awkward ass sex tape thatd be fuckin incredible
He should, Fred and the boys just released their first album in 10 years and played at Lalapolozza this summer!
And have Zakk Wylde come through in the middle of the interview. That would be epic 💯
one of the better podcasts of this year for no jumper,
glad this was archived
damn near hearing music for the first time ever was p.o.d.
so this pod really spoke to me
wish no jumper would carve a space for alternative music
given adam22’s dynamic with these actual musicians is amazing
suppose the growing pains wouldn’t be worth it but its worth a shot
god bless p.o.d. , god bless no jumper
Well said
I thought of Youth of a Nation the other day and took me a moment to remember the name of the band which then led me to many songs and other nu metal bands that I love/d and haven't listened to for ages. It's one of my top favourite genres for sure! I'm stoked on this interview.
Saw them in a West Texas coliseum and I anxiously waited for a autograph late after the show. Grew up listening to them when they first started and meeting them was just way too 😎 cool. Thanks Sonny and guys
Man I remember listening to youth of the nation and alive when I was 5 years old back in 2001. Good times
Damnnnn never thought Sonny would be on the show! Anyone born in the early 90s or before knows how turnt nu metal/rap rock was back in the day with P.O.D
Was a great album the song satellite he wrote for his mum would have to be his best work.
YOOO Adam you gotta get a interview with Jamie ! One my favorite bands of my youth and still is !! Some thes hatebreed tracks got me through some tough fckn times !!! I love hip hop / hardcore/ punk / reggae and love the hip hop interviews !!! But would love to see some hardcore / reggae / punk interviews !! !!! Keep em rollin homie !! Listen to ya shit while working all the time and helps day go by !!!
Awesome person to interview Adam. Look forward to some more great musicians
When I first heard satellite I had it on repeat for weeks it was the perfect album for that time of my life. glad to see you got Sonny on he's a legend in the game
I remember when Alive came out I was in the 7th grade that was in the heart of Nu Metal aw man good ol days
Big ups for this one! P.O.D. was my first favorite band! Sonny has always been cool as fuck and always remains humble.
Aways loved that they're from San Diego like myself
September 2001 I was a freshman in High school. Me and all my friends coped the album. The Good old days 🔥 Adam dope af for this interview
I know Adam was excited for this interview
Hands down best interview with Sonny, big ups for this one
It’s pretty interesting how rock is essential in the Mexican identity too but people still think we only listen to music in Spanish. It’s crazy because I grew up on POD and I never knew this guy was Mexican but all the Mexicans around me all listened to rock and it was a giant part of who we were.
Crazy how I was just playing “Boom” this morning and now this interview comes up crazy
We are we are! POD is an amazing band Jesus is king
Adam is slowly inching his way to a Fred Durst interview. Either way, I love the unofficial nu metal/rap rock interview series the past few months
Who else did he interview?
BOOM! here comes the BOOM!!
another heater thanks for showing some love the metal and hardcore
Shout out to my California sisters and brothers. The effect this man’s music had on my city of San Diego back in the early 2000’s is legendary. POD, Mixmob, Limb Bizket, Saliva, Korn, Linken Park, 311, TOOL, Incubis, Deftones, and so many other bands are such big parts of my upbringing. God what a time to be alive. Back when skateboarding was cool and spiking your hair was the style.
