Tristan@List25 The Video Guy Had 3 flatmates, and 3 more currently this year. 2 of the first I got on well with and the other didn't like me much. 2nd lot this year, so far *fingers crossed* its all gone well ^-^
Eh, I had roommates that were neutral. They didn't do anything crazy (one was even gone 90% of the time) and I wasn't best friends with them. It was the suitemates in college that drove me crazy lol.
Does she split the bills or is it pro-rated like my 32-year roommate. But I'm thinking of advertising for a new one because she won't match the socks & just throws them in the drawer loose when she does the wash, which we split as a chore.
Nahh when I go to college I will have my two cousins as my roommates since we all will go to the same country together and live together so no problem for me since I know them well 😌 Also I love them even if they have a b***y personality - v -
Thanks so much! Very helpful 1) who showers when 2). No pervert sounds 3) Don’t borrow without asking 4). Refill toilet paper roll 5) don’t gossip or trash talk room mate 6). Privacy. No dead plants 23) Prayer times 24). Decoration rules 25). Communal foods? Replaced within 24 hrs. 26) Set expectations on cleanliness
use your own toilet paper! My fat roommates go through 3 rolls before I'm done with one. prayer times makes no sense since religion isn't a door to open and close. a maid is a stranger in the house - who is accountable if she steals or breaks something? decoration rules and what is allowed in common spaces is a good one -- need to ask other roommates before putting in furniture or boxes in common areas. no communal anything. no pervert sounds - good one. our morbidly-obese 61 year old Filipino roommate played super-loud porn the second night she stayed in the house. When asked about it, she denied it and allowed the others to say it was me.
Not sure what weight has to do with it, thats just ignorant. My one lady is like 100lb and my ex is around 130 and my other ex is over 200lb one thing they all have in common is using multiple toilet paper rolls. That seems to be a common thing with women. Id have a roll of 4 put out each weekend and each weekend there was none left. Idk what women do with all that tp but damn. I can make one roll last a week
My roommate was the worst. Never did the dishes, never replaced any food, always left his clothes around, always had 2-3 people over, girlfriend was basically living here(like 5 days a week), never willing to listen to any valid criticism but when he had any problem, the world had to be put on hold to hear his rant, and worst of all? Always late on rent and ALWAYS trying to cut it lower. Needless to say one of us had to go.
what is up with people that 100% fail to take responsibility yet want their needs tended to 100%? How do they make it in the world? Do people just pay their way so they stop?
@@andrejka_talking_out_loud Fast forward years later the dude was trying to change. He had a kid, tried to get his shit together, and became far more positive and responsible, got a job, was about to go back to school, etc. He got shot and killed by some dude that wanted money from him. Not someone he knew, not someone he owed money too, just some lowlife who's now doing 40 years.
I would recommend writing a chore chart and assigning different chores for everyone each day, but there’s always gonna be that one person who doesn’t stick to it
@@lisbonapartments7203 yeah you might think so but common sense is far from common. I thought so too ended up needing a chart and even then it didn't work, I'm finally tired of being patient
@@African.empress yeah, many people don't mind mice and flies and foul odors and roaches. My current landlord asked us to take the trash out every night before bed (an awesome rule), but she never enforces it.
The only other thing, i would consider is that if I feel like there are ghosts in tbe house feel scared alone. Or if I don't have a roommate to tag team an intruder. But these are just my thoughts cuz i overthink alot
@@GO-cz7cl There is so much compromise for living with people. Beside, I have my best time when I'm alone and doing things my way without judgement from others.
I had a roommate that I had to teach everything to since her mother had always done everything for her, including making her bed. She had terrible friends who let her drink underage (if she gave them the money for the alcohol) and then left her passed out drunk and stole her cigarettes. She was also a prodigy and learned how to play the piano in a week. She'd play the same song over and over and over and...Eventually I bought her a pair of nice headphones to plug into her keyboard and we were both happier. Another roommate was literally hauled away in a straight jacket. She'd stopped taking her medication cause she'd felt better and was hallucinating and screaming. We didn't even know about the meds or her mental health issues. My least annoying roommate used to come home drunk every Friday and Saturday about 2 or 3 am to change clothes while laughing hysterically. I'd slam cabinets and doors in retaliation when she was hung over the next day. We never interacted otherwise because everything in the world seemed to piss her off no matter what I tried. She seemed to like me better after I started slamming the doors. Another roommate was sexually assaulted while camping and I had to talk her into reporting it. I was called out of class more than once to come pick her up after she had panic attacks and had to sit up late with her, telling stories until she felt safe enough to sleep. I had to leave a few months later but kept in touch and flew back for her birthday, apparently the first one anyone ever threw for her at age 20. She named her first child after me. I'm not kidding. All of these roommates were assigned to me and the only complaint any of them ever made about/to me was that I did the chores before they could get to them (can't stand dirty dishes in the sink) and that I watched too much tv sometimes. Oh, and I take really long showers. I'm still friends with most of them even though I'd never have chosen them as friends had we met otherwise.
The Significant Other rule really hits home - my roommate has been having his significant other over all weekend, every weekend for over a year. It's stressful accommodating someone that basically lives there for free. Don't know when she's coming, don't know when she's leaving, don't get notified beforehand.. yeah I had enough and I'm moving out soon (next Friday).
I currently share a house with another mature lady and we get along fine. We had a roommate who had a problem with prescription drugs. We don't have that roommate anymore, may she rest in peace. I was the one who found her after she overdosed. It was very sad. We haven't gotten another roommate since it happened. thank you for list 25. I enjoy it very much
I had a roommate that had his girlfriend move in, then her mother, then mother's brother, then her (girlfriend's) brother. And none of them was paying anything towards the bills, in fact, no one worked. I was the only one in the house that worked. A total nightmare! I finally got tired after 2 months and moved.
I have a horror story. I was living with 3 other roommates, two of them were a couple living together. The routine was like this: one or the other would heavily drink (NOT in their opinion, they were just "relaxing"), then make the loudest noises until late at night. This was the lite version. The heavier routine was like this: they would drink, loudly fight with each other, even hitting each other, insults and smacks flying around. And that was NORMAL for them. The whole time I lived there I did not have a good nights sleep, also because sometimes they would make loud noise early in the morning, I never could guess when it would end OR start. And they would try to convince that I would never find better accommodations than in their house! Yeah, right!!!
never move in with couples and make sure the landlord puts in writing in the lease that no couples will ever move in. I lived with 2 couples (landlord verbally told me no couples allowed, but then allowed them anyway) and that meant huge trouble. When they weren't making each other miserbale, they'd gang up against another roommate.
As somebody who has a 'hot water limit'; it's not so much a hard limit as it is that some homes only have so much hot water at a time - then more water (which is naturally/sitting either cold or room-temp) has to be heated by the house's water system, meaning if you use too much of the hot water, there won't be enough for the next person to have a hot shower. I'm not sure if apartments have this issue though, or if the hot water tank is just bigger for bigger residential buildings. I'm also not sure people who live in-city (connected to the city water system) have this issue either, or if it's a suburban thing.
It depends on the source of the hot water. In some countries there is hot water on demand. For instance, in Brazil most homes have electric shower heads. In the USA most homes heat tanks of water that is then distributed to the rest of the house.
Даниил Бережнов Hot water heaters are extremely common in the U.S. When the hot water runs out, you have to wait for the water to heat back up, which can take a few hours.
Даниил Бережнов Lol. No, we don't have a "limit" from a company or anything. We normally have a hot water tank somewhere in the house, and it only holds so much hot water. After it runs out of hot water, you have to wait for the new water in there to heat up. Some people have these things that instantly heat up the water as it moves through the pipe though, but not most people. We have one though.
I had a roommate borrow car, promising to have it back in an hour. He came back after 6 hours, with an empty tank and scratch marks down the right side. He did not apologize and asked me to add the price of the gas onto his half of the rent! He never owned up to scratching the paint.
Great video! I'm sharing a house with 5 other roommates who broke many of these rules and one day I snapped at them and yelled at them about how there was no rules. Long story short; they moved out and I have new roommates who are moving in and this is a great guide on how to handle the situation.
My roommates dog literally had a “pee explosion” in our kitchen. Without even telling me or cleaning it up, she left the apartment and I walked right into it. WTF is wrong with people?!
same, but i got a decent roomate. neither in college, both good paying full time jobs, both avid PC gamers and into the best new tech. both like to pred dinners, both like to grind for the thing we want. and im about to get the new Honda Civic Type R!
My roommate was a drug dealer. Once while he was out for the night, a squad of cops and Dogs bust through the door and scared tf outta me. However, I didnt know of my roommates business, and when the cops asked about drugs in the house,I said that there were no drugs in the apartment. They had a search warrant and found about 20 pounds of weed in the place. I was then brought in for more questioning Moral of the story, Don't sell drugs in an apartment that you share with another person.
@@SomebodysWatchnYou It must of been very sealed or he doesn't know what pot smells like, cause that is a hell of a lot of weed, not to smell. I have found pipes and roaches (if that's what they are still called) that where hidden in drawers, because i could smell it from about 20 feet away, so 20lbs, lol.
I have the best roommate EVAHHHHH! We've been roomies for over 5 years. These rules are really good. We pretty much follow all of them. It works so well.
I've had both extremes. I've had roomies who have been overly generous to the point of covering rent when things got tough and for whom I've done likewise also. Of course we went on to be lifelong friends. On the other hand I have had roomies with whom I have had fist fights with for reasons such as loud parties at 1 am when I needed to be up for work at 6am
One of my friends used to live with a guy who genuinely had the worst personal hygiene I've ever heard of. He had chronic urinary incontinence, but didn't even have a proper bin to dispose of his adult diapers. Instead, after often wearing the same one for an entire day (and thus, always reeking of piss and having noticeable piss marks on his clothes from overflow), he'd stash them in plastic shopping bags, under his bed. At one point, the other housemates staged an intervention, after one contracted an E.coli infection (contrary to popular belief, urine is NOT sterile once it leaves the body, because it picks up a ton of bacteria on its way out) and they found 19 leaking bags stuffed with used, festering diapers under his bed. This was around the same time he'd stopped paying rent, after "quitting" his job (who wants to buy food from a guy who reeks of piss from 20 paces away??), so thankfully, they were able to kick him out. When that happened, they also got rid of the sofa where he usually slept (probably because his bed was a giant, stinking biohazard), which no one else had even touched in over a year because it also reeked of piss and was covered in little stains 😫 The only reasons any of them put up with it for so long were awkwardness and one housemate's utter spinelessness.
some people have always had bad hygiene, that they either don't notice it or don't think there is anything wrong with it, but others are so depressed that they don't take care of themselves.
Some of mine: 1. Don't proposition their partner. 2. Talk things out before calling police. 3. Respect their health if they don't drink or smoke. 4. No unplanned parties. 5. Keep noise down to a low roar 6. Respect their property. 6a. If you break their stuff, replace or pay for it. 7 pay your rent on time.
I live with someone who smokes and cares nothing about my hatred for it. So much impulsive behavior. I’m too poor to move out and it’s driving me crazy.
I feel mixed about this. On one hand, if it’s cigarette smoke and it genuinely harms you and they for example smoke in the house or don’t go outside or open a window. Then yea. That’s pretty shitty and inconsiderate. However if it’s weed and they just like to smoke and you’re bothered by it for whatever reason, that’s definitely a you problem
My first year in college I got paired with a random person, and we have been BFs since. On the other hand my second year roommate who I choose to stay with because I knew her, or thought I did, turned out to be rude, inconsiderate, and she ate the gift my parents sent me for a holiday when I wasn't in the room. My third year, and roommate, started out great. But it changed when I was folding laundry... She said she was going to bed and all I said was "okay, well I have to get this folded tonight so I'm not going to stop." and she got so mad. I don't even know why? She wasn't going to turn off the light. She had already gotten in bed! I'm sorry but I needed to get my laundry put away or it would have sat in the hamper😖😖😖😖 This year my roommate is as crazy as me and we are BFFs. We paired up because our friends are our suite mates, and there is never a dull moment...unless we are all in class. Lol
Since there is only one bathroom in our apartment, I keep the bathroom door unlocked when I’m taking a shower out of courtesy in case my roommate urgently needs to go to the bathroom. However, most mornings when I’m in the shower, he stroll in and does his #2 while I’m in the shower, I certainly don’t appreciate the foul air foul as it suddenly penetrates the shower. All I can say is “what died in here? “I have warned him that I’ll start locking the door if he doesn’t stop doing that! For some reason, I don’t think I would have this problem if my roommate was a girl versus a guy
During a job I had down in the Grand Canyon National Park, I had a roommate in the employee dorm I lived in who drank a lot and even brought a friend over to sleep with both being drunk out of their minds. Needless to say, it can be rough when one drinks and the other doesn't. Thankfully my experience in the Navy taught me how to deal with the situation.
Yes! Our kitchen is a disgusting mess! If I clean once somehow it becomes my duty!! I live in a dorm and we have a shared living room and Kitchen.. asked everyone to help clean but no one wants to do it!!
Definitely on the gf/bf staying over one!! I had her staying over pretty often, even though she had her own dorm. Ruined the 3 way agreement pretty bad, even though all she did is sometimes take a shower. But if we ever argued she'd pout on the couch instead of being an adult and talk which took up a big communal area and no one wanted to be around that. Got our own place 3 months later broke up with the psycho gf and kind of regretted how I did the great friend and her bf over.
my roommates are pretty great. we've known each other for years before moving in together. we all vape and when another person comes in the house we ask if they're okay with us doing it. if not we don't, if they're okay with it we still regulate how much we do.
Hi, right now I'm in my room it is 12:47 AM and my roommate is banging on some dishes and silverware in the kitchen, some pots too, stacking them in the dishwasher after he cooked some stuff...really banging, no soft touches! Also he wakes up every morning to have breakfast with his daughter that comes over every day at 5 AM before work...a thing that he did not mention when I first moved in...you got it..at 5 AM and that breakfast is not a light one...full cookout...frying stuff, taking out the dishes from the dishwasher and stacking them...TV on in the kitchen...the whole package...not caring that I am sleeping at that time...when I talked to him once at 5 AM and asked him to be more considerate about the noise, because he wakes me up, his response was "I do this every morning man, my daughter comes to eat with me every time, I have to cook and do dishes" and got upset that I told him that he's being loud...like I was the one bothering him...I also can't really confront him about it like I would do with a regular roommate because he is the landlord of the place and basically he owns the house, I pay him cash with no contract...thus the "I have the right to do this" attitude, but he doesn't respect quiet hours...he does the 5 AM cookout till around 6:30-7:00 AM and then goes back to bed like nothing happened ...and this will go on and on...next day he'll be at it again...WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE ME? It would be hard to move too, because I live close to my work place...but it seems like that would be the only option to get some decent sleep!
Replace rule #1 as expect that not everyone has an understanding of these seemingly simple rules.... Some room mates just simply don't care about anything or anyone else.
yep. I've worked with people like that, too. So, how to screen them out? Asking them to show up at a certain time to meet is sometimes a good indicator. If they are late or change the time at short notice, that could mean they are self-absorbed. An accidental sign happened with one roommate - we set out 3 chairs in an empty room for me, the landlord, and the prospective tenant. She sees us both, puts her purse on one chair, sits in the other, and obviously thinks its my duty to stand up the entire time while she and the landlord talk. and she was late.
My roomate stabbed himself at 1030 pm on a sunday evening. As my room is next to his, I was the one that had to deal with it (he was heavily intoxicated). I never got a thanks for it, which for me was the worst part
I live in a shared student house with my best friend and two other friends. We had a rota, for cleaning the kitchen, which two of them shirked completely, meaning that when it was my day to clean or my best friends day to clean, there would be Everest of dishes, which we knew weren't ours because was wash our own thins anyway Eventually we decided to not clean it and see how long it would take for them to do it... Two weeks. And that's only because we spoke to our landlord about the entire thing.
One of my current roommates is a nightmare. Literally will sleep majority of the day, use up most of the things such as toilet paper, milk (especially milk and will drink it lips on the bottle) bread, etc and not replace it at all. She also brings her bike in the living after countless times being told that it's unwanted. Has two of the world's most annoying Yappy little dogs. Constantly pace back and forth to smoke out front of the house (it's a shotgun home so she has to cross my room to do so). And to top things off, does not pay any bills. The "nicest" thing I can say about this person is she did take me in off the streets and cleans up very well, however this living arrangement goes down in the books for me as my worse experience ever living with someone.
Ugh, I lived with one particular roommate who was a complete slob and was also super loud. He'd play really loud music until around 3am and would also have parties every single weekend... I lasted a month before I moved out with how I just couldn't put up with it anymore.
my worst nightmare, was the part where, after the school year was over, I was stuck cleaning after 2 people and myself, because the pther guys just "ran away".
Also agree to what level of public nudity is acceptable. If you wanna let it all hang out you should check first. Also everyone should recycle. It is annoying to sort your own waste then throw a bin bag full of someone else's cans and bottles into landfill.
I clean up my mess when I’m cooking. I clean things up daily. My roommates are a couple and they are lazy asfff. They barley ever freaking clean, and they’re the ones who makes most of the freaking mess! Then when they do clean (rarely) they only clean one part of the room. For example, when I do the dishes, I clean the WHOLE kitchen. Wash the dishes, take out the trash, sweep the floors, wipe down the counters and the stove. Their lazy ass will only do the dishes. We’ve only been living together a month and they’re already bothering me with this.
No.22 : refill the toilet paper roll when it's out Same goes when the trash is full, throw it out and place a new trash bag in the bin. There is a certain roommate who fills up the trash bin & NEVER bother put a new trash bag and throw out the full one. Every single time, WE put a new empty trash bag, she will filled that bin up. Not even once she bother to help clear the trash and put new bag in the bin. I'm sure there are others who can relate to this too.
And my horrible roommate story is I have 3 people living with me who are all friends they smoke drink and smoke up the eat all my food never clean up after them selfs never ask and always touches my things one of them lives free practically he eats off of the other girls with out asking so when I bring stuff home he thinks it's everyone's when it's not I bring everything in my room that I don't want touched but I'm now out of space they always fight blast music and I have a cat who has been in my room for 4 months because their kitten wants to play all the time and mine just wants to sleep so she won't leave and since I have no room left in my room she sleeps all day because she can't play it breaks my heart i think I need to move out after typing all of this out lol thanks the the help
Discuss the expected rules before moving in!!!! There’s nothing worse than being told after you’ve moved in that you can’t “have visitors of the opposite sex” or “cook” certain foods, etc.
In 7th grade, my school went on a class trip to Williamsburg. The trip was fine, but my roommates weren't. We have this weird request system and for some reason, it failed completely and placed me in the room of the three most annoying people in my grade (no one that I chose). They spent the entire four days playing poker for oreos and drinking root beer. So I shut myself into the bathroom in the lobby for hours at a time.
The only rule that ever worked for me wasn’t listed here, it’s “don’t be home 90% of the time.” I went through leaps and bounds to find things to do to stay out the house most of the time
A friend of mine lived with four other roommates at one point and they all agreed on a rule: Whoever does the laundry gets to keep what they find in the pockets.
So, in my dorms, we don't have to share rooms. It's just bathrooms and the kitchen that we share (bathroom with one other person and kitchen with everyone else-sixteen in total). This year, I just share the kitchen, but last year was horrible. I had a bathroom mate that would throw up in the SHOWER and not clean it up. She would literally just leave it there for a few days. She and the other girl next to me got kicked out for bringing people in the middle of the night to party and steal everyone's food. This year I'm keeping all of my food in my room, but thankfully so far the people who are here are pretty nice.
I have a roommate who is 30 yrs older than me and I've known him for 2 years. I mostly do the cleaning (kitchen, bathroom, dishes and the trash) and most times buying the remaining groceries for him if he forgot them. Most of the time he'll cook for the both of us but oftentimes he forgets to wash the pans after he is done cooking and I would wash it. He's more of a "I'll get to it later" person whereas me I'm the "get up and do it and get it out the way" person. But most of the time we get along pretty well. We both have our own rooms we live in a two bedroom apartment.
Number 15 yes! I lived with a morning person who drove me crazy, up and bubbly, playing music at 7am and chatting my ear off. I JUST wanted peace until I had my coffee lol.
Dude... My old roommates used to host D&D games EVERY weekend at the house. I would be driving home, like "yay, it's friday" then turn onto my road see all these cars and think "fuq, it's friday" Once it got old we settled on every other weekend.
Thank God me and my roommate is simple. We live in a 2 story house with at least 2 bathroom, so that problem out the way. Me and my roommate take responsibility for our action and we let each other know what we did. We trust each other and split the bills for housing, food, etc. The way my life going, I feel like I’m going to be a millionaire one day even though I’m unemployed and get paid for getting good grades in college.
You asked for a story, here's a good one! I had a house mate that NEVER locked the door. I would come home more often than not to a complete stranger sitting on the couch watching my tv and eating my food and my house mate was still at work. When I asked each one who they were and where's "Joe" they would tell me, oh I'm a friend of "Joe" and he said I could hang out whenever I wanted, don't know where he is, probably work??? Bad enough? Apparently no! More than one house crasher at a time would start occurring. Then things started to disappear around the house. Last straw was when I came home to find a very drug induced party in the living room with broken shit everywhere, a chick coming out of the bathroom wearing one of my skirts and jewelry, and a couple f*cking on my bed and "Joe" was no where to be found. Unfortunately, even after leaving the house and on to a far better living situation, I still have "Joe" in my life as he lives in the same neighborhood and we have a few common hang out spots. To this day, even after many arguments, his breaking the lease, and the landlord suing him, I have not received a single apology or even a speck of remorse from that hellish man. In fact, he blames me for the whole mess for not setting boundaries for his friends while he wasn't there. Da'f*ck?! He recently had his house robbed blind, and still won't accept that locking the door and having better friends might have changed things a bit. IDIOT!!! Moral to the story... Background check, and references for everyone sharing your space. Oh, and photographing my stuff and renter's insurance might have saved me some grief too.
cant be worse then mine, my roommate had his alarm Clock ring 6am everyday even on weekends. BUT he dident Wake up Before 10 am.So the alarm rang for 4h non stop without him turning it off. After 2 month the landlord finnaly kicked him out. + The alarm was so loud so the people above/under us could hear it.
Gamer Meojs Was he near deaf? Being a "hard sleeper" is no excuse for an alarm that loud. My step-dad has to wear hearing aids (which he takes out at night) and his alarm isn't even that loud. Also how rude, he isn't even getting up then.
i am having the same poroblem,,,but i sleep in nearly sun set and he talk to his family via massenger,,,and always watch like javapnese cartoon on his laptop without ear headphones,,and he has exess energy while i am a quite person,,,i dont know what to do,,especially i have a weak personality,,,GOD help me
I figured out a week in that my roommate that’s not much younger than me is not cut out to be my buddy. He got mad at me a few minutes ago for asking him something when I saw that his door was open. I really wish my feelings wouldn’t get hurt so easily. I’m just gonna stay clear of him and try to get along for the sake of being roommates.
Don't try to be his BFF just make sure you are doing your responsibilities and respecting their space. If he was your friend it would be harder to communicate the issues there might be
Lived with a guy who also moved his GF in -- and lived with a young woman who moved her younger brother in when his mom kicked his smart *ss out of the house. In some cities, it can take 3 months to evict them.
Moved in with someone only to realize they were obsessed with cleaning and don't get me wrong keeping things clean and orderly is a nice quality trait, except when it borders on obessession. Not to mention she failed to mention she had a stalker and expected me to do all the cleaning. Sge also expected me to stay shut up in my room at all times i wasnt allowed to have guests but she had people over all the time and said i made people uncomfortable because i would be downstairs eating and interrupting her company. I couldn't take it anymore and left.
What bugs me is that mine has conditions that are beyond fair and lives beyond those and I don't feel like I should have to say certain things to an adult.
So horror story..... exroommate moved out in the middle of the night without warning and left a dear John letter...... roommate story to brighten things up. Had a roommate who I met in training at work ended up becoming great friends with each other until he left for the military...... now my roommate is my husband and he drives me crazy but I love him so I guess he can stay lol
My roommates boyfriend basically lives here and has a key and that is not okay. She never asked me and he eats all my food I pay for. I’ve told her this and that it needs to stop and all she did was get upset and cry.
I once rented a room at a guy's house. There were 3 people living there (him, me, and another girl who rented a room with a private bathroom). I shared the bathroom with the landlord only... but there were always about 8 towels hanging there, and I had nowhere to hang mine! No idea why he needed so many towels at the same time!
I've had both good and bad roommates. my last experience was good. he did his thing I did mine. there were a few disagreements but overall it was positive. I think being roommates with the opposite sex can help.
Once in a while I have to nag my housemates to do their chores (vacuum, clean their piled up dishes, clear the washing machine n dryer, etc). I'm a light sleeper too so they have seen my scary sleep deprived side telling them to shut it at midnight. I live with five other people. On the bright side, they make good company most of the time n the rent is cheap.
Now this is a kind of stupid question. I'm a high school senior with the ambition of transferring from community college to a higher education. Since I won't likely live in school dorms, I've been considering living in an apartment. My mom says that I will likely need a roommate (*eye-roll* IDK why, I'm much more responsible by myself). I'm a pretty individualistic person - I'll make my own food, do my own clothes, clean up after myself, etc... I wouldn't mind a roommate who is equally responsible and respectful (though I know that won't always be the case.) *Now to my stupid question* - do you make food for each other? For breakfast, do you make food only for yourself or for your roomate as well? Do you prepare a meal and lay it out for both of you? That's one thing I've been thinking a little worriedly about. As I mentioned, I'm individualistic, but that comes from my social anxiety and introversion. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY I will become close friends with my RM, (or will be beforehand), but in the case I don't, I'm kind of dreading those awkward table moments where you're eating and you don't know what to say and you die from awkwardness.I mean, I can't control everything and I certainly can't control someone else (heavens no). *TL:DR* - Do you make yourself food or food for both of you?
umm don't make food for your RM. do it if you want to do for kindness but DO NOT LET THEM USE YOU! NEVER. bets thing to do it to make food togehter eat together and wash the dishes together BTW sorry for bad english

Yes yes yes I want to die because I live with roommate
Sounds like a great adventure :)
I believe you might be a really nice person, a bigger better person than me. God bless you.
I'm going through the exact same thing
I currently share a house with another mature lady and we get along fine. We had a roommate who had a problem with prescription drugs. We don't have that roommate anymore, may she rest in peace. I was the one who found her after she overdosed. It was very sad. We haven't gotten another roommate since it happened.
thank you for list 25. I enjoy it very much
I've had roommates before and two words come to mind NEVER AGAIN!!!! 'Nuff said!!!
Is hot water limit a thing in the USA? In most countries you just use however much you want as long as you pay for it.
depends. if u got a water boiler then the hot water will end
Даниил Бережнов
Lol.
No one should EVER be allowed to borrow your car! They can buy a bike, a peddle bike.
Great video! I'm sharing a house with 5 other roommates who broke many of these rules and one day I snapped at them and yelled at them about how there was no rules. Long story short; they moved out and I have new roommates who are moving in and this is a great guide on how to handle the situation.

My roommate was a drug dealer. Once while he was out for the night, a squad of cops and Dogs bust through the door and scared tf outta me. However, I didnt know of my roommates business, and when the cops asked about drugs in the house,I said that there were no drugs in the apartment. So its a pet cat
So so glad i live alone
I lived in a three bedroom house with 5 other guys, it went so well I have been living alone for 15 years.
Some of these things should be for married couples as well because things such as #22, my dad never does for my mom.
Ew, the horror stories are terrifying.
Chronically Fabulous damn that's alot to deal with.

Short explanation please.

I'm sorry but I needed to get my laundry put away or it would have sat in the hamper😖😖😖😖
This year my roommate is as crazy as me and we are BFFs. We paired up because our friends are our suite mates, and there is never a dull moment...unless we are all in class. Lol
I just moved into an apartment with horrible roommates. This video was perfect.

Helpful stuff!
Moving back out on my own again in a few months with a buddy of mine from the gym. These are helpful tips.
Got our own place 3 months later broke up with the psycho gf and kind of regretted how I did the great friend and her bf over.
my roommates are pretty great. we've known each other for years before moving in together. we all vape and when another person comes in the house we ask if they're okay with us doing it. if not we don't, if they're okay with it we still regulate how much we do.
my best roommate story
is.............
*that I don't have a roommate*
It would be hard to move too, because I live close to my work place...but it seems like that would be the only option to get some decent sleep!
it's a really useful list because most people need to live with roommates at times
not to mention people are oblivious to the possibilities.,
I wish some of my old roommates saw this before moving in with other people.
I live with my best friend, and we have been living that way forever. So this is so relatable to me
Replace rule #1 as expect that not everyone has an understanding of these seemingly simple rules....
I have had roommates that created a pile of dishes and ignored it for weeks.. with the culprits just adding to the pile....?
Oh, that's right. A thousand years ago you showed us your new digs in Florida. I suddenly remember that.

Same goes when the trash is full, throw it out and place a new trash bag in the bin.
There is a certain roommate who fills up the trash bin & NEVER bother put a new trash bag and throw out the full one. Every single time, WE put a new empty trash bag, she will filled that bin up. Not even once she bother to help clear the trash and put new bag in the bin.

I can't wait to leave school! Me and my friends (4 of us in total) have found a house and are moving in as roommates.
good list. I've had some nightmarish roommates
One of my roommates has a dog that craps in the house from time to time.
Do they clean up after themselves? Does it leave a smell?
The only rule that ever worked for me wasn’t listed here, it’s “don’t be home 90% of the time.” I went through leaps and bounds to find things to do to stay out the house most of the time
this was an awesome upload list 25. very helpful. :)
A friend of mine lived with four other roommates at one point and they all agreed on a rule: Whoever does the laundry gets to keep what they find in the pockets.
why would anyone expect someone else to do their laundry? That must've men - the kind who don't care how they look or smell
The way my life going, I feel like I’m going to be a millionaire one day even though I’m unemployed and get paid for getting good grades in college.
who pays you then ? your parents ?
@@generosogaming1507 nope, my earned hard work from serving my time in the military
I'm going to try using this as a backbone for talking to my housemates during a meeting. Once I get them to say yes to talking to me!
Does anyone watch Big Bang Theory? If Sheldon were my roommate, I'd be behind bars for murder.
Louis Riehm I would be sheldon
I would leave the apartment and sleep in penny's room. She's chill. And not an asshole well not a complete asshole
@@EvilRaccoonDM I'd sleep _with_ Penny

That'd be Ananda... Yes?
Yeah, you will never know how bizarre peoples reality are, until you experience it.
God I would freak the fuck out!
There are also PROPERTY Managers that the other side of the renter nightmare.
I think this is a good video for folks who are new to shared living. Good job
My current roommate wakes me up almost every night I talked to him so after I just got ear plugs
cant be worse then mine, my roommate had his alarm Clock ring 6am everyday even on weekends. BUT he dident Wake up Before 10 am.So the alarm rang for 4h non stop without him turning it off. After 2 month the landlord finnaly kicked him out. + The alarm was so loud so the people above/under us could hear it.
Gamer Meojs you do have it worse
Gamer Meojs my god
If he was your friend it would be harder to communicate the issues there might be
Biggest issue i have is them not turning off lights and not locking the door and or forgetting to bring the key.
My old roommate broke about half of those rules, he was fine for the first year then he moved his girlfriend in. it just went down hill from there.
The folks at List 25 would make great roommates, hence the list.
My roommates boyfriend basically lives here and has a key and that is not okay. She never asked me and he eats all my food I pay for. I’ve told her this and that it needs to stop and all she did was get upset and cry.
For all the above reasons, I never have--nor ever will--had a roommate. Heard way too many horror stories.
good list
I think we all want more memes the cat in the videos from now on
Did you guys hide cameras in my apartment and make a video of my flatmate?! Oh my god this is so true it hurts...
I wouldn't mind a roommate who is equally responsible and respectful (though I know that won't always be the case.)
*Now to my stupid question* - do you make food for each other?
NEVER. bets thing to do it to make food togehter eat together and wash the dishes together
BTW sorry for bad english
Nora Storm Yah, meals should be kind of a group thing or you all just make stuff separate
