Wonderful review! I watched Flow at the Denver Film Festival and also loved it! A really daring film that was executed beautifully! Oh and wait . . . .I recognize that shirt 🧐
I'm glad you got to see it too! Oh man, yes it's actually my favorite of the year right now. Amazingly, it's coming to a theater a few hours away from me so Im driving down to rewatch it on Saturday. A very serendipitous zoo purchase 😆
There is an official board game Flow. It just came out in Latvia, so I don't know if it is good or will it get international release. But for sure it is better than E.T. video game.
Really looking forward to this one. As far as my favorite film without dialog, I would have to go with Murnau's the Last Man. I cried myself to sleep for weeks after I saw it.
My son has pretty severe autism. He’s mostly nonverbal. He loves crashy smashy action movies, and he especially loves music biopics and concert film experiences. He’s bored by quiet dialogue scenes. I honestly don’t know if he will appreciate the visual storytelling plot. Is there enough action and/or music that he might enjoy this experience even if he doesn’t understand the story? He liked The Wild Robot. Maybe the last time a reviewer said “visual storytelling” to me was the 2019 movie “1917”. We liked that movie a lot. I wish I knew if he liked it for the story, the action, or both.
It's tough to say with this one. It's definitely got some action sequences (chase scenes, tense stormy boat scenes, etc.) but I wouldn't put it in the same league as 1917 or the crashy smashy action movies you mentioned. It's got a lot of slower, quiet sequences of the animals interacting too. I think your son's enjoyment of this one might depend on how much he likes animals. If watching cute animals interact in realistic, but lightly funny ways would be able to hold his attention, then I'd say give it a shot. But if you think he'd be bored without a ton of bombastic sound or action on screen for most of the movie, then you might want to wait on it. I saw it again last Saturday with a public audience this time and I can anecdotally say that there were several very young kids who were completely captivated by it. I imagine it will eventually get a blu-ray release somewhere down the line, but it's a small enough foreign film that we do run the risk of it not ever being available for home viewing. So, if it's in theaters near you, I would say don't pass up on the opportunity.
@@MainelyMoviesthanks for your review and for this thoughtful response. It will be at our local theater this weekend. I’m glad to hear that kids appreciated it. I’m also glad to hear that you prioritized seeing it again! I hope we can make it. I’m sure his mom and I will like it! I’ll let you know how it goes.
Interested in another wonderful 2024 animated film with animals? *Check out my review of The Wild Robot* here: ua-cam.com/video/Rm96Y3bEdWY/v-deo.html
Stunning film. If you see it, bring a box of tissues. If you have a cat, bring two boxes.
That's for sure!

Oh nice! I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
This is officially a movie I plan to catch down the line.
Nice, hope you enjoy it.
Being reminded The Bear exists just brought me back to my childhood
I don't know why nobody ever talks about that one anymore!

Hopefully this one doesn't have quite the same effect on you haha.
@MainelyMovies I hope it isn't as crushing.

Awesome, looking forward to hearing what all of you think of it!
Art design reminds me of the game Last Guardian
The game? I've never played it, but looking at screencaps, I agree with you!
