no shit you need a special tool just to open that shit without bleeding to death from the packaging or from the rusty razor knife you tried to use to cut that thing open LOL
I very rarely if at all throw away tools/pieces of metal because I can make/adapt them for other things. I have a lathe, mill and welder, love making stuff out of scrap.
I have a drill bit "drawer" full of dull and/or bent bits, many of them don't have a legible size anymore. I just can't bring myself to throw them out. Secretly I have a fear of one finding its way out of the trash and into a tire.
Every mechanic has a drawer full of drill bits that couldn’t drill through butter but in their there will be a good one after you went through all of them
For those who don't really know....step bits are EXTREMELY useful for thin-section sheet metal. They don't grab and they don't leave nasty sharp curlicue things sticking out. Pretty useful for deburring, as well.
Step bits are especially useful if you need a bigger hole in the end of a battery cable or cable clamp, they don't grab the hole and cause damage like a normal twist drill. They can also remove the burr leftover after making a hole.
Or, just hear me out: BUY THE CORRECT FUCKING SIZE CONNECTORS AND DO OT CORRECTLY AND STOP MAKING PROBLEMS FOR THE NEXT GUY WHO HAS TO FIX YOUR SHIT!!! PS. Bodged electrics just makes my blood boil, it's so cheap to do correctly but it takes hours and days fixing one single cut corner after the fact.
Harbor freights cobalt alloy step bits are legit. Better than the irwin. And they go up to 1 3/8". Crazy sharp and I have not been able to dull or chip it. Oh- and way cheaper. 40 bucks or so for 2, 20 on sale. Poors unite!
Would you be open to donating the tools you don’t want? Before throwing them away! Could def use the extras for the new shop and new mechanics without tools.
He was joking man. It’s a more entertaining video when he dumps a drawer full drill bits away when in fact you will definitely still need them. Unibits are great but they have their limits as far as what you can do with them.

We all know your going to keep those other bits 😂

I love the dirt in the bottom of the tool drawer. 😂
Metal shavings from the drill bits...

maybe this guy likes those triangle shaped holes...
Yeah I used to have one I don't remember know where it went.
I work in a metal fabrication shop. I use these every single day. They're awesome.
I was drilling through semi trailer frames with the mid grade step bit from harbor freight. 1/2" thick, 4 to 6 per trailer.
Laughed out loud when the drawer got dumped.
AvE would be proud
Time!

Genuinely useful advice right here

Just bought some irwin plumbing tools and took longer to open the packet than completing the job
The last ten words had me dying.
Hahaha same here. The delivery was flawless too.
I keep one of those in my HVAC tool bag. 👍🏽
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only guy whose toolbox is a disaster.

Finally a drill bit suitable for my weak parts guy wrists
Make sure ya get a quarter inch drive plug in for added safety.....:

I’ve actually had a few situations where a step drill is superior not many but a few
I too open plastic packages with a blow torch... Lol
That's how i open my cereal
Of course Irwin couldn't have a hexagon shank.. wtf is with these tool companies and their round shanks.. stupid.
If that wasn't an advertisement IDK what is

I have NEVER gotten one of them unibits to cut worth a crap...I'll stick to regular bits
