I try to mimic your button layout for the 6 primary weaponskills, I assume you use a 12 button mouse from your hotbar layout? Is there a reason you do Bootshine-True Strike-Demolish in one row and Dragon Kick-Twin Snakes-Snap Punch in another row other than personal comfort/preference? Also, does your brain ever have to stop looking at your timers and just auto-pilot the 1-6 of the rotation, my brain feels like a pretzel when I try to settle into the rotation rhythmically rather than focusing on the Disciplined Fist/Demolish timers.
Yeah, I use an mmo mouse. Back in ye olden days all of our gcds had positionals, so my top row were all rear, and the second row were all flank. It does become muscle memory with enough practice
What makes you play Monk? I know you have played lots of other classes at high level like Samurai, Drg etc. As someone who only plays Ninja was interested to know your personal opinion on different melee classes!!
A few reasons, but primarily personal preference honestly - I started out as a monk in ARR and have played it as my main job ever since, so I'm just super comfortable on it. Of all the melee monk and dragoon are my favourite - though usually I'm playing with a Drg comelee so can't really do much on it myself. Sometimes I'll trick myself into thinking "I'm definitely gonna play Sam for speeds this tier" but then I spend a week spreadsheeting it and 2 nights playing it before remembering how awkward it feels and returning to ol' reliable. Thankfully (since HW at least) we've not been in a spot where monk has sucked; in fact it's been pretty consistently strong for a while now, so I tend to just fall back on my comfort pick.
Tea (and ultis in general) are sort of a different beast, typically you'll start off with lunar solar as a base but can tweak things as needed depening on downtime/phasing
I don't know if there is a team comp reason, but is there a reason you didnt use Riddle or Brotherhood until like the first mechanic? Im trying to parse 90+ for 1. Personal satisfaction and progression, but also so I can prep for like ToP.. I'm trying to learn like every nook about monk so I'm just trying to piece together the reason for the no riddle/brother in your opener.
Because the boss dies at 8:10, if we did openers at normal times we'd only get a couple of gcds in the last uses of buffs - we were hoping to go slightly faster too, which would've meant we totally would lose the 8 min use of buffs entirely. To counter that, we did openers at 30s instead, which meant we had full resources in our openers from the get go so that even though we lost the final burst window due to kt, our openers were stronger. It's something you only really do for kt consideration during speeds, if you're just trying to parse you're better off just playing normally and having someone in the group sandbag so the boss dies around 8:30, right after your last even window

Perfect balance what do you use no clippy for 1.94 gcd? what third party tool should I use since I play the game at 60 fps.
I personally use XIVAlex because it does ping+fps stuff together, but doing NoClippy + Reaction is fine too
Mr perfect balance I’m gonna be progging tea tomorrow new as monk. Could I use lunar solar for it or no there’s another rotation ?
