I got stuck on a flat part of this slide years ago.No one was behind me or in front of me.My hubby was way ahead of me.You have to go full throttle on the slow sections.
Tried to go as fast as possible on one of these last summer at Crystal Mountain Michigan. Lost control on a curve (bad leaning by me), flipped and crashed hard. Rode three more times after that. Next day I was diagnosed with a dislocated collarbone. But it was fun!
Exactly when you think of a rage you think of people yelling at the top of their lungs and getting ready to fight or something not just saying go and then getting up and going to the front and also I thought the slow people would've raged
@Mark Weis I was okay.. I was very young and was riding with an adult, so he dampened my fall.. But I think he got a little hurt. Nothing big. Not sure if anyone saw us.. We just got back in the track and kept siding! This one was made out of metal.. (it was this track ua-cam.com/video/3XmAAiUnzwM/v-deo.html)
The Attitash slides have a design flaw, after that first turn, it gets very flat, making it easy to stall out if you didn't get a fast enough run up. One stalled person can quickly lead to a whole line of stalls as they try to hand push to get through the flat and get running again. The Bromley slides are a bit better in this regard. (Bromley also has a third track that takes a different line than the other two.)
Elia06 ni, it would look like the finish line but there at the beginning just like Mario cart when you think you've won but you still have to get one lao ahead and you know its over

I've been on this, think it was when I was like 12 I was having a great time, my dad was on the side, and we were going at a nuetral pace, alittle fast I'll admit, but nothing crazy. I was looking at him, trying to catch up. This lady in front of me was going slowly, and let's say I broke a leg and an arm
I,ve been on this very slide at Attitash in New Hampshire and there was this one kid who I think was missing some chromosomes becaause he held the break the whole way down. (I was with my stepsister and brother, my stepsis went first and bro was behind me all on the same track.) I came zipping around a corner with my fucking warp drives on and slammed in to the back of a train of like 15 people. My cart slid under my stepsis's cart. It destroyed my knee. Then comes my brother max speed slams into me. bloody nose for him as he went over the rail and into the rocks. A toddler comes around the corner and presses the bar down on the corner she flies over the edge and into the rocks. Kid is bleeding and her dad stops behind bro and goes to her aid. Guy on opposite track stops stupidly and asks if he needs help. Two kids smash into him. Everyone is either cussing the slow child out or crying. I feel repeated nudges as people keep slamming into the back of the evergrowing train. Employees come up and remove the crying kid forcefully from the track. Moral of the story if you dont know how to ride the fucking ride don't fuck everyone's day up please. P.S. I think that may have actually been the kid who cause this. We were there in the summer for my dads birthday and I remember the kid was wearing a white shirt.
As an 8 year old back in 87 i was concluding my reality on things like He-Man and Voltron. So when my dad took me and my older brother on a slide like this, i of course didn't comprehend real world physics at all. Didn't help that i misunderstood the instructions and i thought pushing down the handle was breaking.... By the time i hit the second turn i was going so fast, i just flew off the slide, my sled smashed into a pine tree, i landed in the grasslands. I just remember looking to my left, and seeing a big cow shit there, i made a uhhh gross-face as i stood up and look back at my dad coming down the slope after me, seeing me off the rails, my sled all bent out of shape next to a huge tree. Only now i know what his facial expression ment: omfg, how will i tell this to my wife. lol.
I was about 11 when I did one of these. A person in front of me was super slow so I slowed down. Someone behind hit me and I ended up getting burned and super hurt. I had to go to the hospital. Just be safe and careful on those things.
Thanks for sharing this & igniting all my happy childhood memories of the Alpine Slide...my Mom couldn’t afford to take us on vacations or amusement parks so she took us here & even while flying out of it, getting bruises & cuts I still had a blast! the best part of the video is where there is a shot of what the under carriage of the slide looks like covered up by words .... Man i love that, can't get enough of it : (
I've never been to this slide before, but I think I get it: If you don't build up enough speed at that area...you don't have enough momentum to make it past that flat area...which is why those girls were sitting there stopped. Notice how everybody was using their hands to move along. Either that OR, they weren't strong enough to push the lever down far enough to make the coaster run without resistance. In my experience...when you push the lever forward all the way...it's pretty much running totally on the wheels. I don't think these kids knew how it works.
Alright so fun fact, while your going down this slide your supposed to speed up at that long part or you pull yourself for ages. I do talk from experience as well with the fact of getting of the track as people have lost figures for doing that.
Palms never sweated when watching a video until I realized theres no thingy holding them back from sliding off the track and into a fall that could kill.
It's not always rage, john fearnley. There's a portion at the Park City alpine slide when you come full bore around a corner and everybody is backed up waiting where injuries probably always happen. Even if you brake hard....there's no way you can slow down. I seriously slammed into someone even though I tried to stop. I felt a little bad, but nobody got hurt so...I mean hell...they have ride times at the end, with your coaster number so people know you are supposed to ride as fast as possible.
I did the one at Great Adventure in NJ 40 years ago. A bunch of friends going full speed . It was actually scary because you could tell you could easily lose your balance coming out of a turn, and you might well fly off the track. I think all but one of us got burns from scrapping the concrete. But boy, what a frill. Above a certain speed, braking in a turn was actually dangerous as the sled would start to swing left and right, so best not to brake and hope for the best.
