I want to entry not because of price or reward but actually try to join anything on webtoon to... 1. Promote myself 2. To check myself if my skill is to audience liking 3. To practice Maybe there is more reason but this is what I can think of now. But I can't wait to do it. My baby lovely story will shine (as a firefly)
Honestly this would be a great opportunity to launch a comic and gather eyes even if you're expecting to win. There will be more eyes from the top brass and readers so having a back log of episodes will serve you well. Good luck!!
id be lying if i said the monetary incentive didn't influence me to start working on my comic. but now along side using this as practice i wanna use this to springboard myself as a creator and storyteller.
Stop it, really?? It’s been ages! That’s too far for Webtoon. Has the person released details? And honestly same but im not gonna kill myself over it, work smarter not harder
@@CookiesAreNoiceI'm not sure about the money, but isn't that webtoon still in production? I imagine they would want to release the animation to promote the story once it's ready for launch. The really interesting part is that the two other winners have already begun publishing for over a year now, but I think the grand prize winner stopped giving updates on their progress around a year ago
I feel you on the coloring 😵💫 but having to color minimum 3 x 40 panels is still not gonna stop me from trying to enter!! >:D so hell yeah! Let's do it!!! And best of luck!!
Knowing Webtoons, they're probably gonna get a big cut of the prize. I dont trust them when it comes to money. They're greedy so them giving 1M sounds too good to be true. I heard some ppl who won their contests didn't even get all their prize money. Company is so suss.
@queenofpents3442 They better fcking not mess with that, I wonder if the previous contract had the money as apart of it. That's what I suspect anyways, I would love any of the previous winners to give a tell all.
I'm kinda anxious for this whole contest, but i have a plan set down, I've already written down some guides for the story, I'm deciding to finally work on a comic i came up with when i was in the 7th grade in 2016, if rebranded it and course corrected the story and i think it is good, my target for the contest is to at least reach the 24 runner ups and if my luck serves me well the 12 genre finalists. I've planned out 7 episodes and have finished 4 of the comic outlines, i plan on working on one episode per month.
Looking forward to seeing your entry! I love thriller mystery type stories! 💜 I don’t think I’m going to participate in the contest (I don’t have anything nice to say about Webtoon as a company lol) but I’m excited the contest will encourage creators to get their stories out there!
Aw thank you! And I get it, I wasn't even going to bother myself, but the pros outweighed the cons and if you can use Webtoon to boost your own story, I say go for it. Remember to use them, never let them use you.
I have the same problem. Sometimes ChatGPT can give me good alternatives but in the end, I go by my placeholder titles cause idk. There’s where Dante’s ama came from 😂
I think i might try to enter with my dungeoneering princess idea... Also, i hope i can make friends, connections, and maybe get a small fanbase... Winning money will be a bonus :D
Even if I don't win anything I was looking for an opportunity to rework the intro of my story and then it came along , but thanks for trying to help small creators like us ❤
I'm nervous and scared to join the competition but I want to enter my story in the most epic genre Even though this would be first huge story creation. you're video really covered a lot of key details from a creator perspective. good luck on your entry.
Of course, and thank you! Trying your best is all one can do. Most Epic can come across as intimidating to artists so the fact that you're going for it is impressive! You got this! And remember to pace yourself and take it one step at a time if it feels like a lot.
You’re so kind 🥹 I’m thinking to join so I’m dreading managing social media and producing 40+ panels per episode… Love hearing artists support artists 🤍 Great video!
Ain’t that the worst? You can always ask the subreddits of Webtoon Canvas or Webtoon to see if someone is willing to work with you, or you can just simplify your art for the comic and make it intentional
I totally agree with you on starting to build an audience now, if you don't already have one. I'm considering joining but currently I don't have an audience as I'm still drafting my first few stories. I'm currently writing webnovels, but I'm thinking of adapting one of them into a webtoon for this contest because I think it fits the vibe of a webtoon. I'm planning on releasing both the webnovel and webtoon next year. I wish everyone the best of luck~! Also, I can't wait to read your entry as well
@thingyclubhouse what would probably help is if you posted snapshots and recordings of your progress while dropping hints of your story lore and characters. I always find those videos and posts fun, especially if they have an interesting concept or design. And since the submission is in March, posting a few times a week should give you the moment by the time you post the webnovel and webcomic. Which I’m excited to learn about when you’re ready. Thank you and good luck!
Hi I’m entering the competition! My comic’s name is “Enchantcity” and it’s the first comic I’ve done. I don’t have a built in audience so some advice on how to build one might help.
That sounds great! Wishing you luck! Like I told someone else, a good place to start is posting short videos or posts about your behind the scene progress of your comic while also dropping story lore, character concepts, and a simple premise that hooks readers to the story. Remember to make it sound interesting because anyone can make a story, it's standing out and being consistent that will take you far. I'd recommend starting on at least two social media platforms to gather eyes to your comic if you can, if not, one works too, just be consistent like a few times a week. By the time March roles around, you should have gained some momentum. And have fun with it! That's what most important!
Honestly, if you can hook us in the first three chapters and keep the momentum of the plot going for another two without the big action sequence, I say go for it. Most of the fun stuff may be in action sequences but you can also hook people in other ways. It's all about presenting an interesting premise!
Just means that minimum is 3 episodes but if you create more during submission, than you’ve done more congrats! Just make sure you still have more 2 extra episodes for when they ask when your selected
@@DayDayDoes So could I just upload them one at a time or do I have to upload all three at the same time? Oh and once the competition has ended could you still continue with your comic that you've created for the comp even tho you didn't win? Sorry for all the questions I'm still very new to webtoon and I've DROWNED myself with videos about how the app works 😂
@@DayDayDoes Alright, thank you! I really needed to find someone with more experience in Webtoon. This was really helpful! I might, or might not, come back and ask some more questions if I need help, but otherwise, this was really helpful!
I know! That just shows me Wbt wants an easy built in audience story that will guarantee them profits and interest from the jump instead of organically building it up like previous webcomics in years prior.
On Webtoon? Yes, but you can make it a traditional page and then configure it vertical when you upload so if you want to publish a physical book, you already have the traditional pages ready. It's a lot more work, but some people do it that way. It's up to you.

The good thing is that so long you among the top 40, you already have 5500 guaranteed
Basically! And you don’t have to worry about much because you can either take it and leave and get some publicity
